Red hair around his neck!!

Any suggestions to get this stain off Barney?

We took him for a walk yesterday and it was REALLY hot. We brought water for him, but he wasn't really wanting to drink from the bottle, so we decided to dump it on him  to cool him off for the rest of the trip. Well, his brown leather collar 'bled' onto his nice white neck fur. I was so embarrassed--it looked like he had some major wound on his neck and he was bleeding  So now he has a ring of brownish red around his neck.

It will fade!! I washed a couple of foster girls I had once and their pink and purple collars bled onto their necks - it eventually faded. Sorry I don't have any quick solutions!!!
george has a blue and red collar which used to always dye his fur a nice shade of pink!

It fades!
Cameron said we should put his collar in different spots around his body and then he'd look like a candy cane!
    At least he's got a good sense of humor about it.

Have you tried washing it with a whitening shampoo? Leave it on for about 15 minutes, then rinse.
Steph,
it really does sound like barns and panda were made for each other...panda has a permenant pink stain around her neck in the summer....her red leather collar, even after 3 yrs still stains......i wouldnt worry about it too much....blackening shampoo seems to help, but wont get rid of it......think of it as a ''cool'' doggie tatoo......panda and barney are the co presidents of the club.....
I do the same stuff I'd do for a dirty beard. Maybe a wash with Woolite?
lol--I've never done anything for his dirty beard! Except take him to the groomers!

Just think what a amazing xmas card that would make
I always thought barney was a sweetie, now I know he is as a giant candy cane.
Stella's Gentle Leader is red and it leaves a big red mark across her snout and around her neck. I wish there had been a warning on the packaging... I would have opted for a different color, lol.
Lots of rednecks here! Sorry, couldn't resist.

A guy on my Komondor board had the same problem. He wrote the company and they paid to have him professionally groomed. Might be worth it to check it out.
You know, maybe that's not a bad idea. I'd rather have the company offer to exchange the GL for one of another color (they have a fawn colored GL that I think would work much better). I don't have my original receipt, but maybe it's worth asking them anyway.

Oh, Ron......

I have a basset board too. :sidestep:
If it helps, this is my favorite board, though. :)
I could create an all-breed board with different sections for each breed.

I could appoint members from here who have multiple breeds as the moderators for their other breed section(s), so you can spread the mantra....

...and oes.org can finally control the doggie world! MUHAHAhahahahaha

Oh pooh, was that out loud?
That would actually be great. I hate the way the Yahoo groups are set up. This is so much easier to navigate!
A dirthy beard!!!. Nigel needs a cure for it. I tried blueing shampoo, but he wasn't very cooperative. I send him to the groomers, but would so like a way to keep his beard and neck white instead of dog food brown. For all the rest of the time. We might like to use him as a therapy dog if ?/when he can pass the tests. No one but us can enjoy the brown/wet beard.

Can someone give me a step by step in beard whitening????

We would be so gratefull. :clappurple: :hearts:
Peroxide in a spray bottle works.

Don't use peroxide on OES whites. It'll turn them porous and brittle.

Ditto!! And that goes for several others. I love this board! :clappurple:
Well, I'm sorry to hear of the "bleeding" collar but am glad I'm not the only one with the problem :) My OEs has a black collar and his neck looks dirty all the time! Wasn't there a commercial at one time for a solution for "ring around the collar"??? Or am showing my age
