Too HOT for the beach????

In over 50 years of coming to Edisto I have never seen it too hot for the beach but this week it just may be. Record temperatures (104 yesterday, higher today) with no breeze make it TOO HOT to stay more than a short while.

I'm not even taking the boys outside except for potty trips. WHEW, I don't know how people live in this climate. It's too hot for even the frogs. I got in the shower last night and found two tree frogs chillin in the shower!!!!

It's ok though, I brought lots of good books and my knitting. My daughter and I just might HAVE to go shopping at the outlets (airconditioned) :D

104!! I would be miserable. It was too hot for me here yesterday, I don't know what the temp was, something pathetic like 30C lol.
How do you cope? I would be in the freezer 8)
Ginny--seriously. It is SO hot around this area (within a few hundred miles!)! It is so humid, which is really the killer. I love summer and have always been a beach girl and tan and all that, but I hate southern summers. I'm almost as pale as I am during the winter b/c it's suffocating.

I wish I could say it's going to cool down, but I think all week is supposed to be this hot. GO SHOPPING!
You're right -it's miserably hot down here right now. It's really too much to even be outside for longer than a brief potty break. The humidity and heat are both HIGH which makes you feel like you're suffocating outside. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's going to change for a least another week. Glad you've got a good back-up plan. :D
Ginny, it is steaming hot here too. Last night we went to the park and there was practically no one there. We passed less than a handful of walkers on the path. The few dogs that were there, including Harry, seemed to be handling it okay since the sun was down but it was kind of creepy since normally the park is very active.
hehehe.....i have only one word for you....BABY!!

actually 2...sissy baby...lol.....

oh and "Welcome to my world!"
Yeah, but out here the humidity is 99%! Makes it WAY hotter feeling than that 'dry' desert heat
I'm a big baby at 30 to 35 in Canada, which we do not get to much of. we usually like 20-25 I think I will stop complaining now.
then again, i just realized that i complain a lot about how cold i am....and how hot i am....i have a narrow window for comfort...perfect day temp is 85-95...perfect night temp is 65-70 8O
Hi I'm weird...I love the heat  and get depressed in the winter. I love to be outside and to sweat
Been there last summer, now it is winter and I am complaining about the cold now. :P

Hey are we allowed to call you "Jelly Butt" now? Since you have been stung there?

Ginny white vinegar on that area after the sting, neutralises the pain when a jelly fish decides "Hey here is a butt to sting"

Been there not on the butt though, it is painful and even life savers here on the beaches have vinegar handy for those blasted jelly fish stings.

They just pore it over the area straight away.

Suppose we cant expect a picture of the sting site, 8O it is a family forum here

Poor ginny I'll give you some sympathy. :ghug: After I stop laughing
Ouch! I'm sorry to hear you got stung. I remember a couple of years ago, my SIL got stung by a jelly fish when we where on vacation at Myrtle Beach. He said it really hurt and we had to find a life guard to put something on it to stop the pain.

Aussie and sheepie hugs.....hope you feel better and your vacation improves.
Cute little diddy Ron

Jelly Butt? I THINK NOT

The "locals" have their own cure, it involves dousing the site with alcohol and then sprinkling meat tenderizer on it  I'll stick with vinegar thank you very much.

The boys are settling in nicely. My Dad's cat is not real happy but, he'll get over it. The cat spends most of here time under my Dad's bed. The boys just wanna play!!!!
Oh Ginny - how awful! Those jelly fish stings are so painful. I hope the vinegar helped and you're feeling better.

Does this mean you won't be back in the water today? :? Maybe taking in a movie in a nice, dark air-conditioned theater would be a good idea. :D
You should have had the nice cute lifeguard pee on you, Ive heard that that neutralizes the sting
Oh my gosh Ginny! 8O

Ow! :twitch: Ow! :twitch: Ow! :twitch:
