Thanks to everyone for giving me heads up and sending me pm.
I know you asked for no replies, but i think this thread is a good idea. The path you are having to travel now will undoubtedly be rough and exhausting. Being able to check this thread should instill hope and help you to remember that you are loved. I would say a great majority have never met you, we have only witnessed your words and they have been more than enough for everybody to feel your strength and good humor.

You and your family will be in my prayers.

Shannon M.
Hi I'm so sorry to hear whats going on..I know I haven't been on the forum very long but I think you are one of the funniest people. You are going to make it. Everything is going to be ok. This happened to my Mon 13 years ago and she has a sense of humer just like you. Try try try to think positive.
You are in my thoughts
We love ya Darc! :hearts: :ghug:
okay, thanks a lot!! i was doing great with no tears until i read all of these....i should have worn water proof mascara (btw which ISNT water proof in salt water..but thats another story)..

I love all of you and appreciate every single word, prayer and advice that you all will give me. It really does mean a lot.

Im still kinda walking in a daze at the moment, but im sure that will pass.

i am going to keep a ''diary'' of sorts on the other section...i think it will be good for me and for anyone that may go thru this as well....

who knows maybe Ill end up with full C cups AND a nose job... 8)
Sending hugs :ghug: and kisses (some sloppier than others) your way Darcy. You will be in our thoughts :ghug:
Hmmmmmmm perhaps we could start a poll on "how big should Darcy go"!!
well, i sure dont want to look like dolly 8O remember, im relatively small boned!!!!
Darcy,
Mine are way too big for me.... I'd be happy to give you some.
My back would be happy too.
actually the whole breast thing is a side thing. i mean they really only are there to hold up clothes, at least in my case since i dont have kids.....im more interested in the possiblity of the nose job that would accompany the other surgery.
ONLY YOU DARCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You go girl, GET IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(((HUGS))))
What does the nose job have to do with anything? But, I HIGHLY recommend nose jobs...I love mine :hearts: So...if you do get a boob job AND a nose job, you'd definitely have to move to San Diego then...I think they're a mandatory requirement for women living there...

On a diff. note--I'm thinking about you and at least they didn't make you wait long to get the results...there's nothing worse than not knowing and having to wait. You're a strong girl and you'll get through this! Love ya sweetie! :hearts:
Wow! I'm just catching up on this post and I'm stunned.

Darcy, you are most definitely in my thoughts and prayers!! :ghug:

Don't feel like you have to be strong all the time. We're all here for you anytime you need us!
steph, i have always wanted my nose fixed.....but have been too chicken to do anything...when i broke my nose this spring, i actually tried to go ahead with it....but, i actually went to a ''moral'' plastic surgeon that said that it wasnt necessary...go figure......

So, if i am going to be under and in pain anyway, lets just get it done with all at once......boobs, nose....its all about cosmetics anyway.....
I'm behind ya 100% Darcy, GIT 'ER DONE. When I had my hyster I begged the surgeon to do a tummy tuck, he was "moral" too

Then I need to give you the # of MY doctor! I broke my nose and also had really bad allergies so they did a CT scan and saw the most deviated septum they had ever seen...so they were going to do surgery for that...then I said, I have this bump...and she said SURE! Maybe while you're in San Diego in Sept! Then we can be nose buddies 8)

I believe they'll do up to 3 procedures at once so maybe you can pick one more thing?
Hmm, how about a butt lift Darc?? Not that I'm saying your butt is drooping but you know that when you get older EVERYTHING heads south
Darcy, Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. My cousin went through it 5 years ago and she is doing great. Her biggest concern was that they wouldn't let her keep her artificial nails on during surgery. I know you will come through this even stronger. I love how often you make me laugh. Maybe some of us will be able to do the same for you.
Darcy, have you told this nasty little "c" word that it picked the wrong body to invade?! You are so strong and determined it doesn't stand a chance. You are in my thoughts and prayers for a full and speedy recovery. We are all here for you anytime you should need us!

:ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
You know... whenever I receive bad news I use that as an excuse to BUY SHOES!

(but in all seriousness I'm sorry to hear the news- and we'll be thinking of you until you beat this!)
Darcy,

A dear friend is going thru this right now. It's a long road with several nasty potholes along the road. The biosy was just the first. Now that you are primed to go........things slow down now. Actually from biospy to lumpectomy was 2 months (man, I'd be chewing the door frames) and then another 3 months before they started chemo! She's thru chemo with the hair loss....when it started falling she just shaved it off and went with hats. Now she's in radiation......that's the one that zapping her strength.

So it's a long road, but you know all of us are here whenever you need to vent, cry, laugh, etc.

Now as for Dolly Parton.......you are taller than she is.......she's less than 5 feet tall.....and surprisingly small boned. As one who knows there is life beyond DD's.......stop at C cup!

:ghug: :ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
Darcy,
I'm sorry to hear your news!!! You have a wonderful attitude about this!!! So many women forget there are worse things to lose than possibly a breast, such as arms and legs.

You have a beautiful face, but more importantly, you have a beautiful spirit, and that's what people see when they look at you. ALWAYS remember that!!!

Cancer is not something we have to fear as much as we did twenty years ago. I have a brother and sister that both had very large tumors, and both are still living very healthy, cancer free lives. One lost a kidney, the other lost her female parts.

Lean on those you love, this forum, but go to the Lord for His love, strength, healing powers, and especially His comfort.

May God bless you, strengthen you, and heal you.
Pam
Hey Darcy,

Just wanted to let you know that Lee and I are thinking about you. :D
this has been a HUGE wake up call....my girlfriend jen who is an er doctor said....''well, this is about the time that you REALLY give up smoking..." :? So, I have 4 more left in the pack, then thats it! I cant bear to just throw away the 4 left 8O but im really on board now.....also, she is a much better Catholic than me, but I told her that church is now going to become a regular......as long as its not 8 am mass.....

thanks again everyone....you really ARE the best!!!
Dear Darcy,

I just got caught up to speed on your situation. (I always seem to be lagging behind everyone else!)

Well...you've got the Jewish Prayer sector cornered here!!! We will be praying for a complete, speedy and easy recovery.

If there is anything any of us can do to help you through this (we do have the power of numbers with us!) we are all here to help.

Don't Catholics have a Saturday evening service? Seems a lot of college kids do that service-maybe better suited for you!
Well, crap, that's not the best news. :x All of us here are praying for you. (I'm still in denial, but the 4-leggeds are taking this very seriously.)

It's too bad none of this involves Emergency personnel.

Looking at the parishes around you, you are in luck. Most have several services on Sunday and one on Saturday. Your only concern is English or Spanish, LOL!

We Greeks, it's once a day, that's it....of course it'lasts a lot longer.......LOL!

Good test of a husband's metal........sorry you get to do the testing.
Sorry to hear you're going through this. Sending very positive, healing, thoughts your way!
Darcy,

You are in my prayers and my heart. :ghug:
Oh, Darce. I'm sorry I'm reading this so late. We are always thinking of you...

Yes, there is usually a Saturday night mass :D
Darcy,

You are one of the most special people I have ever had the good fortune to meet! Hang tough girlfriend! We all stand there beside you! :ghug: & :hearts: from Hannah and Copper!

Yeah, but that's not the same as Johnny Gage or, say, Roy DeSoto.
Darcy,
Sorry to hear your news. But you will beat this. My friend is a survivor of breast cancer and is doing wonderfully! She looks and feels great. you will too.

And about the smoking...I am on day 4 of being smoke free. I am using a drug called Chandix. its is a wonderful help and no nicotine. Maybe it will help you? believe me, I never thought I would go a day without smoking and its been four already.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

A friend just emailed me listing all the medals she won this week in Senior Olympics swimming! This just a month after sweeping in all the gold medals in her group at National Senior Olympics! She is a 15+ year breast cancer survivor. We went when she dove into the pool and lost her prosthesis right in front of me......hello! 8O

Diane.......Great News! One day, one hour, one minute at a time.
We're lifting you up, Darcy. Keep hugging Panda!!!

Watchout for that Marianne woman's hugs... she might crush you all by herself!

I hereby offer you my big bearhug, but a warm, safe, gentle loving one for you to snuggle into.

OK, that creeps even me out... Still it's the thought that counts.
Darcy,
Just wanted you to know that I will say a prayer for you.I was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was thirty. I had 15 out of 22 positive nodes. I had 6 months of chemo and an autologous bone marrow transplant. I am only sharing this with you so you know that there is hope. I am 43 now and haven't had any problems since. If you ever want to talk e-mail me and I'[ll send you my phone number.
Love and hugs ,
herbgirl
Oh, Darcy! Boy was I surprised to come into this thread and read this. I'll have my fingers crossed that things go well. It runs in my family, so it's something I always think about. Big Hugs to you girl and lots of positive thoughts!
When you're ready, Women of Faith have an OUTSTANDING video on breast cancer. I believe the narrarator (sp.?) is Nicole Smith, a survivor
Thoughts and prayers headed your way.

And when you take Panda to the beach next summer, be sure to wear sunscreen - and reapply often. You're going to be more sun sensitive for years.
Darcy, I have been away for several days and just read your thread. :(

We are also sending lots of prayers, love and hugs your way! You can beat this girl. I think your diary is an awesome idea.

:ghug:
Darcy, I have been waiting for the right thing to say...and then I saw this:

Darcy,

I have been out of town so I am a bit late too., Sending warm thoughts and hugs from Maryland to you.

I have a friend (sorry if you are getting fed up with hearing this) who had a terrible time with her cancer (it was in her stomach) but she says the real fight was with the doctors, the admin, the organisation and finding people to help out. They all said there was no chance of her surviving chemo, she had lots of it and the cancer was persistent. She lives on her own and had nobody to help her out 24 hours a day when she really needed it between being in and out of hospital. I know you have family there to help you out, so get them to deal with some of the admin issues at least, don't try to do this on your own.

My friend fought to get good care, fought for the best drugs many had told her it was pointless taking (she later found out this was a money issue, so she had to fight for the drugs) She fought to get second opinions and the journey was a rough one. These extra issues were where her family could (should) have stepped in to help, making phone calls, collecting medication, files, arranging journeys etc.

She is now back at work, manages to do most of the things she used to although lifting things is hard for her and is just as bright and full of energy as she was before the cancer. I saw her when she was at her lowest, when she felt ready to give up, but she was strong and kept battling. AND she didn't have oes.org to support her! Please remember we are all here to help you, you are not alone. And please get your family and friends involved in a practical way NOW.

You are in my prayers xx
Hugs and prayers comming your way Darcy :ghug: We are all here to support you :!:
Keep your chin up Darcy , sending good thoughts and prayers your way
Sorry been off-line - honestly Darcy will you stop at nothing for new boobs, I've got plenty, so I can send some of mine over. I'm thinking of you, have a few friends who have been through this too and they've had their ups and down, but they're definately on the up now - keep smiling hun xxxxxx
Hugs and prayers to you Darcy.
You're positive attitude and outlook during this journey will take you a long way.
If we can do anything from afar, anything, please let us know.

I often claim my last b/f told me I was flat chested and I responded by saying...awww get off my back!
Nyuck nyuck...that one's for you, Darcy, hope you had a chuckle! Didn't even borrow Ron's book of jokes either.

Remember think positively and laughter makes the best medicine.

Thinking of you.

Darcy,

Watch a lot of comedies. Laughter stimulates whatever is necessary for good health. I might have you beat on the lumpy head! It's probably an excess of brains  .

Go Darcy :cheer: :cheer: I believe in you!
Darcy....we are all praying for you.....you can beat this :ghug: :ghug:

I agree that the unknown is the worst! Although the known is difficult at best.

One thing I know for sure is that you will remain the beautiful person inside and out that you have always been! Soon you will realize that too!

:ghug:
I just read about your situation, and I just wanted to send you :ghug: and let you know you're in my thoughts and prayers. You have such a wonderful spirit from your posts - it'll see you through this. :)
Darcy, hang in there girl, with your attitude and courage you will come through with flying colours :ghug:
Darcy, prayers and best wishes. You have several good support systems already and don't forget your local breast cancer survival groups. Most areas have very active groups through the American Cancer Assoc. Sometimes it helps to talk with people that are going through the things you are dealing with as well as survivors who have completed their therapies......Kathy

Wasn't Paul Lynde a real SOB in real life??????
Yep, that's what I've heard. You could see some of it on Hollywood Squares.
Yes, but he was also in "Bye Bye Birdie"...
i like ''bye bye boobie'' better....

champagne, hor devours, and lots of loud and lewd jokes!
Don't make me bust out laughing.
Maybe we could arrange an "online" party..... a kinda BYOB (bring your own boobie or bottle which ever applies  )
That's a good one!

Whenever Joan and I go to a party, she always brings her own boob... moi.

I still can't believe you're going through all this, D! I'm glad you have such a wonderful husband there with you. Hang in there and definitely see a doctor if you're having pains in your chest! I hope you can enjoy the weekend.
Joahaeyo wrote:

Ditto, but I'm going to guess it's most likely caused by an anxiety attack.
Big :ghug: s You know where to find me if you need me.
Love you Darcy!
Thinking of you, wish I could hug you in person. Stay strong & always positive, hopefully it is only all the stress there of the last few weeks catching up there causing chest pains. See the doctor too.

Luv ya Kiddo. :ghug:
It has to be STRESS causing the pain. You have enough for 10 people right now. Forget taking the bottle to a party, run a hot bubble bath and pop the cork.
Darcy, I am sure the chest pains you are feeling is anxiety related. The first time I had them several years ago, stabbing pains, I thought for sure I was having a heart attack. Went for tests, etc. and ultimately it was stress. Still have them from time to time, but usually they go away after a day or two.
Talk to your Dr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i did! he said that my chest xray looked fine. he also said that i should stay on the chantix, but if i would feel better off of it, stop it on monday....BUT he would kick my butt if i started smoking again!

He thought it was anxiety too...but honestly, i dont feel anxious....just these pains.....
I'll come over and kick your butt too if you start up again, there might be a whole oes.org group ready to line up behind you and kick your butt if you light up  .
Gets boots on just in case and hums..These boots are made for walking..(and kicking butts) and that's what they're gonna do....

Hey Darcy, I must have been offline when you were still doing kitchen renos can you show me the link? Is your fabulous kitchen finished? Is your stove still in the living room? Inquiring minds want to know! :D

Marianne
Hey Darcy,

Don't forget, you SURVIVED A KITCHEN REMODEL!!!

Need I say more? I think you know what you're made of.

Of course you're stressed, it's a lot to go through in a short time and to quit smoking at the same time that alone is stressful.

You can do it. We know you can. :cheer: :clappurple:  :go:
hehe..actually brian and i were just talking about that! Its ironic how small and inconsiquencial that whole thing was....yeah, we are both made of tougher grit than that....

mar, click on my camera...i cant find the thread ....all the pics are there :D and yes my family room is just a family room again.....i am a happy camper!
Darcey lots of hugs, my mom had to lose an arm due to cancer lots of tears and fears BUT the things she has learnt to due is only WOW. She was 26 now 64 and doing great.
i got my hair cut yesterday. Rachael cut off 6 inches. It sits about an inch above my shoulders....its actually really cute..I know i will miss the ponytail....i mean, when it doubt, up it went!!

I must say that it feels a lot healthier. and has a lot of bounce...we are already planning the next stage which will be a version of victoria beckhams inverted bob....
Instead of the ponytail, just remember, there are tons of cut baseball caps!!!!

In fact, I have one that says, "Woman who behave, rarely make history!"

If you like...I'll get you one :ghug:
thanks deb...youre a love!!

I have a question for all of you....does anyone have ANY idea how long it takes your hair to grow back to a ''normal'' length??????
Darcy wrote:

If only our hair would grow as fast as our dogs  I would wonder if the drugs that would make it fall out or thin would affect the growth rate too?...at least for awhile. I think 1/4 to 1/2 an inch a month is normal for humans.
Darcy, do you prefer constructed or non-constructed baseball caps? (I think that's the term... the non-constructed ones don't stand up in front, they conform to the head more... I think)
Holy Moly, look at this:

Everything you ever wanted to know about baseball caps
anything that fits a pea head.......i have a super tiny head...my eye glasses are actually kids frames 8O
did you say PIN head
just call me Zippy
thinking of you Darcy

i want to see your new haircut

Darcy - my next door neighbor was diagnosed two years ago (about this time of year). She finished her chemo treatments sometime in late January or early Febuary of the following year (2006).

She now has hair long enough for a short bob. So, I'd say you're looking at about a year to a year & a half for regular hair length to grow. :?
Darcy...maybe if you are really nice Panda will let you borrow her hair extensions. 8)
Friend just completed chemo and already she's sprouting new hair! It's baby fine but then she's going thru radiation so still not med free. Her eyebrows and lashes remained in...good thing because those brows just don't come back right once they are gone.

She's been told her new hair will come in curly......she can't wait!

She's been wearing big brim hats and looking mighty cute.

As for hat sizes, both my hubby and I are cranially endowed......he has to buy all hats from a super size hat company.......and I can't wear most women's hats.
I'm a newbie to the list, but I ALWAYS get a kick out of your posts. Pawsitive thoughts and prayers are with you!

Chris, Katie, Fergus and Lita in KS
You are in my prayers, if you need anything let me know.

Well THAY'S s coffee spitter!!!
Oh don't forget all those cool hats you get to wear to match your shoes!

Thinking you always resembled Audrey Hepburn and now get a chance to model some of her hats from those retro movies. Don't forget the sunglasses too ...you'll look FAB U LOUS dawwwwhling! 8)

Hi Darcy,
You are in my thoughts! My husband has Medulary Thyroid cancer (rare)diagonsed last August. I well know the triumphs & scary moments too!
My Mom had breast cancer. She said treatments were like having a part-time job! But it is so worth it! Just want you to know you are not alone! It stinks, but what can you do? Never, never give up! Hugs,
Ohhh forgot to mention I just saw pics of your new lovely kitchen..sigh it's gorgeous and you did a fabulous job!

Marianne
Darcy, we still love you, but we need another thread!
