If you have an entire litter of puppies that have loose stools and you suspect were exposed to coccida and the meds aren't helping, I would make a visit to the Vet immediately. It could be parvo and not coccida...tiny baby puppies could dehydrate quickly. You have to seek professional medical care at once for those babies. Good luck. |
Thank you for your reply! The puppies did not have a problem with loose stools until 8 days after the Albon. Thats why I was wondering if it was the medicine. Do you think some yogurt would help? They are acting fine, eating, drinking...... The mom was tested and was negative, but I had another litter that was exposed to Coccidia by the mom I guess... thats why the vet put the other litter on Albon....just in case It happened around the time the water started to recede here in Texas, the vet thinks something just washed up.
I was just wondering if it was common for Albon treatment to cause loose stools. Thanks, Kim |
I echo Ashleys thoughts, take the whole litter to the vets asap.
If they have been on Albon for 10 days and only 2 days ago the loose stools started then something else is happening there. Hope all turns out oK ![]() |
Thanks! I will take them to the vet ![]() ![]() |
Glad hubby enjoyed Melbourne, we are a friendly bunch here ![]() ![]() Keep us posted on how the litter is going and best wishes at the vets. ![]() ![]() |
If I remember right, some of those de worming meds and meds in general can cause loose stools. But they should be checked anyway. I keep a bottle of Pedylite in my house at all times. Its for human babies when they are suffering dirrareah and it is water like but keeps them from getting dehydrated. you can find it in the baby section of the grocery store or drug store. I get the unflavored one.
Hope all went well at the vet. |
