changing eyes

Darcy's eyes are grey/ for showing this is not good. Tonight we had Darcy to traing school and they told us to put a drop of walnut oil in each eye. This should help turn them brown. Has anyone ever hear of this. Is it safe?

I would not be putting anything into her eyes, she is young and they all start out with sort of a blueish grey hue to there eye colour and it changes. You will never now if you are doing something there that could be detrimental to her eyes and whatever the eye colour turns out to be, it will be that in the end regardless no magic potion will change that.

Sounds like darcy will keep that eye colour as being 5 months old, sounds like she has what is called a "Pearl Eye" colour, which is two blue eyes, the blue eyes come in China (deep Blue) and Pearl (greyish very pale watery blue) both colours are acceptable for showing. If it is a pearl colouring then it will look a bit darker when she pigments around the eye rims.
Could it have been a joke? Walnut oil is not safe for the eyes.
If the person was serious, I would avoid them in the future.
I agree with Mom of 3.....I surely wouldn't be putting Walnut Oil in the eyes. My dad has a walnut tree....and the oil that comes from the green shell before the walnut is ready for eating...stains....and dad accidentally rubbed his eye while he had some of the oil on his fingers....it burns!!! I think I would stay away from even thinking about doing it. Just my opinion.
Sorry but that's insane, eye color is determined genetically and not environmentally. I would not put anything in her eyes, some oes just take longer to mature, including final eye color.
THANK YOU ALL, both hubby and I thought this was crazy. but I had to ask. No matter what ANYONE says I will not use it. If her Eye color changes to dark on thier own, ok, but I WILL not let them tell me what she has to be to show. Madeline might not agree but she had never heard of this before either. I will not let it happen. I know we co-own her BUT I will not let her use this on her. THANK YOU ALL
Deana when they refer to the light eye being objectional, just so you know it is referring to the Brown Eyes, no goldie colour or hazley type colouring a brown or chocolate colour brown eye is preferred, the darker the better.

As I said if darcy turns out to be the "Pearl" colouring not a problem there for her in the showring, perfectly acceptable. :D

You wonder where some people get this sort of crazy notions to pass onto others. I am astounded and god help those dogs that end up with walnut oil being dropped into their eyes. 8O
Oil in the eye? Makes me cringe just thinking of it.
Ask the person who suggested it to try it out on themselves first. Have them let you know if it works. They'll probably have a hard time finding you again since they'll probably wind up going blind.

There is nothing I hate more than people giving incorrect advice that can have potentially harmful effects.
