Curved Shears?

I was looking in my favorite pet catalog and I came across the clippers and scissors and said to myself.... "You have to be kidding!!!"

There are so many shampoo's, types of scissors and clippers. I'm an amateur(sp?), and I don't know what I SHOULD be looking for.

I was told curved shears.....Which ones ??? lol
Clippers??? Which set ??? ....lol

There is like 50,000 of them

Yep, curved shears were my first big grooming investment. Great for feet and butts. 8O Luckily, I had a wonderful breeder who is also a hairstylist help me in selecting a pair that was the right size for the job and fit my hand nicely. I'll bet Matisse's breeder will help you select one. :-)

Your best bet is to shop a reputable vendor at a show (saves shipping costs). If you find a great pair of shears you can also make a note of it and check catalogs later for the best price.

BTW, There's a fabulous shears manufacturer in Orlando (Geib Buttercut). I tried a Geib thinning shears at PetQuest in KY last month and bought it on the spot.
I've noticed some pairs are $150.00 and up to well over $200.00. When I'm told I'll find which one works best for me I'm ok with that, BUT, I really don't know of a good pair to START with!

I will look when I go to another show....
I just like to know that I'm prepared and on the right track here!

Thank you :D
you really need to hold them and if you spend good money on them you probaly will never have to buy again. Just do not drop them or use them on anything else but hair, it does make a difference.

I absolutely agree.

I bought a couple pairs of shears from eBay that were a total waste of money. With everthing I spent on them, I could have had a very nice pair of shears that had a lifetime guarantee. Live and learn.

Next time you're at a show, as you're visiting your friends that are showing, ask to check their out to get some ideas. Ej's right, until you actually have them in your hand, you don't know. I ordered a moderately expensive pair of straight shears and I really don't like them. I kept them for awhile thinking I'd get used to them and never have. I wish I would've tried some out first myself!
I found it easier to use my straights and let my wrist do all the work. No need for two really expensive pairs of shears. But, I imagine that I should be working on that because my wrist will pay for it in the long run!
