Hey,

I am trying to teach Cee-Cee my 12 wk poodle how to walk with her harness, but when I take her outside for a walk she just sits. And I try to get her to walk with the harness on but I have to drag her... Any suggestions, I don't want to harm her if I drag her and force her to walk.. Sad

What should I do???

By the way this is the ONLY web-site that has answer all my question.. THANKS A MILLION Very Happy

Cee-Cee will appreciate all you help.
Sorry, I can't answer you question, but wanted to welcome you to the forum. I didn't take Oliver out for walks until 16 weeks, after all of his shots were given. Treats worked well when we started though.
I would start inside. Let her wear the harness and drag the leash around for a bit. Then try walking her inside since she might feel safe. Use treats to lure and reward her. You want it to be fun for her so try not to drag her.
I second starting inside. You can also let her wear it for fun and then let her romp outside without the leash, wearing the harness. It might be a gradual process - it might happen overnight!
George went through a phase where he refused to go out for a walk at all.

he would sit down at the end of the drive and not move!

We were advised to encourage him out but not to drag him. he had to explore the surroundings on his own terms at first and then he would get further and further away from the house! It worked it took time though!

The problem we have now is getting him home Confused
