Coming to Garden Grove California-Need Recommendations

Hi all! There's good news in our house again...Steve received his promotion at work! This means we will be going on a business trip mid-Sept. The hotel is a Hyatt in Garden Grove, CA. I'd like to stay on a few extra days and do something nice that doesn't require a lot of driving. I've looked online at some B&Bs, but I'm just not sure. Can anyone give me some hints as to good B&Bs or nice hotels on or near the beach? There are so many places I'm totally overwhelmed and need some help. Thanks!!!

Congrats to hubby!!!! :clappurple: Good luck on your trip, I am on the east coast so I can't help but maybe Elissa could.
I was looking at these two places...no idea if they are in the same vicinity:

Ah Stacy, you lucky girl! Sounds like fun. I don't know much of anything abotu California, except that it smells like rosemary, and makes my throat hurt  And they have an amazingly good seafood restaurant that I don't know the name of. Just that it's in the mall at Pomona, CA. (I went to see my sister graduate from college a few years ago in CA)

Have a great trip!!!
WOO HOO!!! Congrats to Steve!!
The B&B in Laguna looks really nice!!
Laguna is beautiful and very close to a lot of things.
Santa Monica is about and hour and a half north of Laguna.
I have personally never been there.
But spent a ton of time in Laguna and LOVE it!!!
Also Laguna is very artsy, so I think you would really enjoy it. :D
Thanks!

Elissa, do you live closer to Garden Grove than Los Angeles? I'm hoping this is closer to you. I will have Wed & Thurs to myself :D
CONGRATS to him!! I agree... so lucky!! :)
Ooh! congrats to Steve!

Sept will be a great time to be out there. I googled Garden Grove and based on where it is, I'd say anything like Newport Beach or Laguna or Dana Point would be great places to go, that aren't too far driving-wise. Really, anywhere on the beach is going to be good. Huntington and Seal Beach aren't really that 'nice' of beaches...that's what laguna and newport are for.
Ooooh, go to Balboa Island. It's a really cute little island off of Newport Beach (it's an island but barely, it's like 20 feet from the mainland). They have little shops and restaurants and in one shop they have a few sheepdog items (like a clock and a tile).

Garden Grove isn't that far from San Diego, but it'd be a drive (like probably 2 hours). Although, I think Darcy's gonna be in Oceanside in Sept...hmmm...
Congratulations to your Hubby and have a wonderful time :D
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Suggestions from Joan:

Crystal Cathedral
Robert Schuller's church.

Downtown Disney
A nice walk, stroll...(especially at night) maybe a restaurant.

Catalina Island
Sea life, scenery. Nice hotel there, too. ($$)
Thanks, Everyone!

Steph, you are in San Diego now? I must have missed something.

I believe Darcy will be in Oceanside earlier in the month. Elissa is very excited to have so many visitors in Sept :D
Nope, not in San Diego...YET. Less than 5 years! woohoo! countdown begins 8)

Just like to promote it :D
