Breena had E- Coli

Hi guys- I just thought I would up date you all on Breena's urinary problems. She has still been having problems all summer and we have been to the vet for x rays for kidney stones, vet exams, multiple visits and finally a culture. The culture found that she has e- coli. No clue how she got this ( possibly a puddle or something- I try my best to keep her out of them but she could have snuck a drink) or even how the symptoms would vary from the urinary thing. She is on a new antibiotic and I'm hoping this works. The xrays found no other problems- no bladder or kidney stones and her bones are great. Just keep your fingers crossed that this treatment works - I want my puppy well again.

Hope she's feeling better soon. It's no fun when your dog is sick.
Hoping Breena gets well soon!
What good news you found something you can treat!

I hope Breena is feeling better and doing better soon.
Sending hugs to both of you and hoping breena is on the mend real soon.

Love her name too
Get well soon Breena! Hopefully Doc is right this time!
I'm so glad you finally got a correct diagnosis!

Thoughts and prayers are with you as Breena recovers. Big hugs to you as well, having 3 sick dogs in the house. :ghug:
Get well soon Breena!

Copper experienced this. He had no symptoms. We found out through bloodwork. He had treatment and was and is fine. I guess it was probably he loves to dig holes. I think the sprinklers washed urine and fecal matter into the water that drained into the holes and he loves to drink from any puddles in the yard.

So I'm sure Breena will recover just as Copper did! Just keep an eye out for puddle drinking!

Another thing I had caught him a couple times opening the toilet lid and drinking. The only way I was able to stop that was to keep a large object on the lid and keep the door shut. Unfortunately they are levered handles so he can open the door. So you might want to keep an eye out for that trick as well.

Get well soon Breena!
I hope Breena feels better very soon.
Now that you pin pointed the problem, I'm sure the meds will help. If you leaev a water dish outside in the heat, you can pick up bacteria als well...just a thought.

If taking antibiotics, I giev a pepcid ac before a meal and the medicine after the meal and some yogurt. the pepcid ac coats the stomach which cna sometimes get upset with antibiotics and the yogurt helps keep the "good bacteria" in the system while the meds get rid of the bad...
Hope all is well soon.
