I should just rent permanent space in this catagory

OK so stella is accident prone. She completely sliced her entire back leg open two nights ago. Serious wound. One night in the emergency room and vet visits everyday for a week or more... then once a week after that. Poor little girl is in such pain. She and zak were playing and she was running wild- she ran close to the house and caught her leg against the water spicket and completely gashed her leg from the top near her groin to well below the knee. I have never seen anything like it. I have been a mess. She just now can sit down... she literally spent the whole day after, standing motionless in the same spot cause she didn't want to bend her knee.. or whatever dog's knees are called. The vet says her leg will be fine but look for a long healing.
I need to get a new credit card with her name on it.

Ohhh no. Poor Stella... and poor Mark!

Please give her an extra rub for me. Behind the right ear, please.
Poor Stella! Give her a big hug for me, carefully, without moving her knee.

Mark, you deserve a big hug too. And a winning lottery ticket
ah poor girl, hope all goes well
Definately a winning lottery ticket, mark I am so sorry to hear about stella, a stiff drink for you and a gentle belly rub for stella.

Sending plenty of these your and stellas way.

:ghug: :sidestep: Plus a good bottle of Vino for you, you need it
Oh no!
Poor Stella and poor Mark!
I guess you can say good thing it hit her leg instead of cutting her stomach open... Ok, I am a bit morbid...

I hope you and Stella are feeling better soon.

Chewie sends Stella girl a big :hearts:
Poor Stella...hopefully things will heal real quick. Big hugs for Stella

Jeez... it makes me hurt just hearing about it.

Boy, do I know the feeling!
Aw, poor Stella!! And poor Mark! Watching them in pain is definitely not my idea of a good time. I hope she heals well enough to move without pain soon. :ghug: How many stitches did she have to have?
Oh no, I'm so sorry that happened. I can just picture it and feel your pain with you having to see her suffer like that. I know it sounds funny, but can you kind of help "tip" her over to get her off of her feet but without bending the leg? To me, when they can't sit down, it's one of the worst things because you feel so helpless to assist them in such a seemingly simple thing.

I hope things improve soon.
POOR STELLA!! I hope she is BETTER soon!!!
Amount of stitches? I asked that question and the emergency room laughed- the answer was, we don't count after so many..ugh

RE: Tipping her over- I tried, but she stood firm. I thought the best thing to do was let her handle it, since I had no idea exactly how she felt.

Update: She is sitting and laying down now and doing a really good job leaving the stitches and drain alone, but will not eat a thing.
I am going to cook chicken for her today, maybe that will work.
Oh, then there's always peanut butter...
Thank you all for your kind words..I am so tired of always posting sad news... i tried not to do it this time, but I realized how much those kind thoughts do help.
Mark
Hi sorry to hear about that... I know you must feel her pain and we feel yours :(

Oooooooooo... too much empathy in reading this.

Maybe sit on the floor with her and watch some TV while you feed her some of that chicken. Maybe she'll feel comforted just having you close by and decide the chicken sounds pretty good.

Please keep us posted on how she's doing.
OW! I second the idea hand feeding her. Sometimes it just tastes better when you get it from dad. And don't feel discouraged. Sometimes we go through phases where nothing goes right. It will pass eventually.
Poor mark and stella  i hope she feels better soon. id try hand feeding her as well...
Poor Stella......keeping our fingers (and paws) crossed she has a speedy recovery!
Poor, poor Stella! How is she doing?
Yes, we definitely need a Stella update. A Mark update, too.
omigosh! i don't know how i missed this thread!! poor girl! i need to go read and catch up and hope there has been some good news. . .
oh crap!! no good news! I hope sweet Stella is feeling better and has started to eat. . . Gosh these sheepies are such a worry sometimes.
I completely missed this one too.
Poor Stella and poor Mark!!
I hope she's healing well and has started eating!!
Please let us know how Stella is doing?
I've been thinking of her and hope she's doing better.
I missed this too! Poor Stella...I hope she's feeling better by now.
Poor Stella!! Bless her heart. That sounds so painful. :(
How's she doing? Is she eating okay?

And how are you?? :?
Hey everyone. THANKS so much for your concern. I have been working 20 hour days on a book project, so Stella and Zak have been at my brothers in Big Bear for eight days and they just got home. It was so strange without them- this is the first time I have ever had to send them away, but we were shooting at my house and it would have been too crazy.
Stella is doing very well, just had all her stitches removed today and the doctor says she shouldn't have problems with her leg. It is still a bit swollen, but healing nicely. I'm so glad she is home.
I will have to post pictures soon, cause when she got back from being in the mountains, she was one giant tangled mess. My brother is so amazing with the dogs, dedicating every minute to making sure they are happy, but with his concerns over her heating up too much he wet her down a lot, without combing her out, so you can guess how she looked when she got home.
Well lets just say, stella now is quite unrecognizable, completely shaved down to the skin!
I am going to have a serious talk with this little girl about her being more careful in the future. She is becoming very timid due to the fact that whenever she breaks loose for a little fun, she seems to always get hurt.
BTW- The hand feeding WORKED! That was the road back to her eating on her own. Thanks for that tip!
Mark
Yay!! I am so glad she is doing better. And I look forward to pictures.
I'm very happy to hear she's feeling better. That's terrific!! Do post some pics of her with her new hair cut. :D
Hip hip hooray for nekkid Stella! :D :D :D

I'm glad things are getting back on track.
I just came across this today... be sure to tell Stella that my Stella says to get all better!! My Stella is also quite clumsy, although fortunately she's never had any serious injuries as a result. I just looked at your pics, and I love the picture titled "Two Stellas", it's such a sweet picture.

Emily, We need pictures of your Stella!
