Here we go again!
Forest Fair was ONE of my biggest summer shows......now its time for the VERY biggest one: The Tanana Valley State Fair in Fairbanks. We leave in 10 days 
Ive decided to start panicing early. 
So...heres the countdown: I have 12 silk paper collages to compleate (in various stages of not-very-far-along), paper that still needs dying, some Silk paper still to make, about 60 block prints to hand-color and put torn paper borders on, aprox. 45 pieces to frame, lots and lots of shrink-wrapping, plus packing and getting ready for a 2 week camping trip. Oh...and did I mention that Scott hurt his back lifting the 5th wheel hitch into the truckbed, and Nathan (my assistant: the one who was puking last time) fell down our stairs and hurt HIS back too. 
The OES forum cheering section worked for me last time, so, please, bring it on! |

Actually, both guys are on the mend, and working hard to get us ready. Ice packs, muscle relaxents and Ibeprophin are a way of life around here .
I got a pretty fair chunk done today, but decided it was time to stop when I realized I was cutting a Muskox out of my Wooly Mammoth paper (they are totally different colors). |

| The countdown at present:
we've decided (after a surprisingly short debate) to leave on Saturday, rather than Thursday!  ...So, 7 days left. It dawned on us, that with our new, smaller and much more maneuverable 5th wheel, we don't have to be so concerned about getting to the fairgrounds before any of our neighbors do.
So with one week left, I still have: 7 silk paper collages in various stages between "just needs the finishing touches" to "OMG, I'd better do the preliminary sketch" ....I still have about 50 prints to hand color, and of course, all the shrink-wrapping, pricing and packing to do.

Oh and we would like some more pictures from the show when you get there. We liked the last ones a whole lot. I hope that doesn't add more pressure to you. |

I often wish I could do this....but, unfortunately, most of my work is too fragile to have "naked" at an outdoor show  Dust, humidity and the constant threat of kids with cotton candy make it a risky thing
My friend Karla does keep working on her watercolors at Tanana, but she does it in a secure "back room" that they add on to their booth. What I DO sometimes work on at the booth is needle-felting, and also handpainted X-mas ornaments. |
Of course you can do it  The cheerleaders are Luke and Rosco wearing letter sweaters |
