Two years ago today, Jill & I brought Mr. Bentley home to Michigan. Remember how I drove all the way home while Jill was in the back of the van with Boo, cutting out the mats?
He's bald today and I love it. I love seeing the expressions on his face and being able to spend time with HIM and not his fur.
Remember how he had me in tears for the first I don't know how many months and most days I didn't even want to come home from work?
That's long gone. He's grown up, matured, and isn't a butthead any more. (Man, I'll probably regret putting that out there!)
Remember how he & Kayli would go at it?
That still happens, but it's infrequent and usually based on silly misunderstandings. As Kayli ages and gets slower, Bentley seems to be very tolerant of her moods and aches & pains and also looks out for her around doors and corners.
Bentley still barks his head off at dogs on TV and squirrels in the front yard and now he calls for Kayli to come bark with him. They share the floor on the side of the bed at night; Bentley starts on the bed and then, after much debate, he eases his way to the floor in a way that doesn't disturb Kayli.
He lets me pet Kayli for longer periods of time these days and when I come home at night, it's often Kayli on the couch, not Bentley.
He loves to play with Otis. Bentley will chaw on Otie's back and then Otie will bat at Bentley, who can't believe this is happening and jumps in a circle. Then it starts all over again.
He still is a relative solitary fellow who gets overwhelmed after a while. He's a counter-surfer extraordinaire - and that extends to outdoor dining tables, LOL. At class, he insists on critiquing everyone's performance and then shows them how it should be done. He hates the long line and once it's on he forgets everything he's ever learned.
He takes treats with a gentle touch and will do anything for a carrot.
It's been an interesting 730 days and I wouldn't trade most of them for anything!
I think I'll go take him for another walk.  |

Aw, Jil, I can't believe that gorgeously white, well-behaved dog that accompanied you to Sheepiepalooza was ever a butthead!

I had to smile at your memories as I do remember when you posted regarding all those occurances. Give that boy and Kayli a big kiss on the nose for me! Carrots!!! Merlin, Blue and Panda love their carrots too!

Marianne, I thought of you the other day when Bentley let me wipe out his ears!!! Woo Hoo!! It was a miracle!! While I didn't spend a whole lot of time in there, I was able to wipe out the yeast buildup he likes to accumulate. (No infections, just buildup.)
That same day he gave me no problems when I cleaned the fold of his lower lip AND he let me touch the Dremel to his nails. It wasn't turned on, but he'd never even let me get close with the tool in my hand.
Thanks everyone, for the congrats! I really feel like I've accomplished so much with Boo, I even put that down as a "personal accomplishment that has changed my life" on a job application. Ha ha, only you guys would know what that really means.
