Wrigley being hospitalized tonight at our Vet's office

Hi. Just wanted to ask you all to be thinking and praying for Wrigley, our new puppy. He started vomitting yesterday and we took him to the Vet. They gave him antibiotics, etc. He still was sick today and we took him again and his mouth and nose were really dry. I couldn't get him to drink and I was panicked. They said they needed to hospitalize him immediately and do bloodwork and give him fluids, etc. I'm just sick about all of this. As most of you know, our family will be leaving on Sunday to go to Mayo Clinic because I'm having a surgical biopsy of some lymph nodes. I can't make the mental "switch" in my head from Wrigley to our trip, etc., we don't even know what will happen with him....................Got Sheep, are you around??
Respond to this topic here on forum.oes.org
Oh no!!! Poor Wrigley! Did they give you any indication on what they thought might be going on?
They thought that this was just a virus. The vet gave him a shot of antibiotics and then had us start some antibiotic pills every 12 hours. Now, they really don't know. She said that they'll have to see what the results of the bloodwork are and also see if he starts to pep up.

I don't know what could have happened.............I do know that he hasn't been very bouncy and bubbly like you would think a puppy would be. In fact, he's not really any hard work at all. We have 4 children, age ranges are 8 to 5 months and you'd think I was crazy getting a puppy, I know. But, I knew I could handle it. This though, I just feel so torn about it. I don't feel like I can leave town without him.............
Don't panick, he is at the best place he can be with the vet, the fact he is vomitting now and still not well, being his young age, they would want to get an IV into him pronto to keep his fluids up so he does not dehydrate..Little ones can go down real quick when not well and not drinking so am glad the vet has him at the moment to help there.

I am so sorry to hear about all this and we are sending you all the very best of wishes and blessings we can muster.

Stay postive, I am sure all will be OK with wrigley, he is in the best of care and hopefully it is just a virus that can be cleared up soon and the bloodwork comes back OK. And I am thinking of you too and hoping all will be well there.

Hugs to you all at this stressfull time, prayers sent from downunder :ghug:
Poor Wrigley! :( Sending lots of prayers and good wishes.

Keep us posted on his progress....Abby and Bert are sending lots of sloppy sheepie kisses his way too.
I'm at work (since 7pm) and will be all night. I check in here between patients, so if you are up, Amy, you can call me or leave a note here.

I am so sorry Wrigley is still sick, and now dehydrated. he definitely needs the fluids, so it is really the only choice to be at the vets.
:ghug: to you all and Wrigley. :hearts:
I am so sorry to hear you and your family are going through all of this at this time. My prayers are with you and Wrigley, for both of you to get better. Please keep us posted. My prayers, best wishes, positive thoughts and cross my fingers are coming your way. :ghug: :plead:
thoughts and prayers to both of you, Hope all goes well :ghug:
OH DEAR!! I hope you are ALL on the mend SOON!!!!!!!!!
Being at the Vet's is exactly what Wrigley needs. Ask them if they provide boarding so he can stay there getting well and be good as new when you return from your trip. There is no reason to stay home if they can hold onto him and monitor his condition. I am so sorry your puppy is not well but hopefully he will pull right out of this. Think of the vet as a mini spa retreat for your puppy to get the rest, fluids and medications he needs to get better.
We got up and called the vet at 8:00 this morning but the Dr.'s don't come in until 8:30, so we have to call them back then. We just feel so sorry for the little guy. He's very sick and our kids are pretty worked up about this. Our little girl, Emma, who's 3, thinks that we had to give Wrigley back. She's not understanding that we're going to pick him up when he's better.

I think our real frustration right now is that our breeder is sort of pushing this off on us, saying that the other pups are all fine, etc. However, when we picked Wrigley up, he wasn't acting "well". We asked her about how he was not active, etc., and she said that it was the heat that particular day. It happened to be 95 degrees and so humid.

The thing is, we would never give him back.........we have gotten so attached to him, just this week.

I think you're all right though, I know he does need the fluids, etc., and he's in good hands. It's just hard to see a little puppy go through all of this right now. It seems that it will be hard for him to adjust to everything?? Coming to a new home, then being hospitalized and then coming back to our house. It's just alot for him to try and adjust to. Just when we were getting him used to everything.

I was also really excited to take him to Dawn's house. It just seemed like it was meant to be and with it being so close to where we are, and Dawn being so nice and wanting to watch him, it just took all the stress off of us. Well, I have to start packing our family up - our 5 month old won't take bottles well and my surgery is in 3 days. Just can't wait to be back home, pick Wrigley up and hopefully have good news about my biopsy.

I will miss the forum and all of your support while we're gone. I'll post when I hear from the vet.

Thanks for all your well wishes for Wrigley.
I hope you get a good update from the vet today. I will check back for updates on Wrigley.
Good news, good news!!! That is my wish. :D
I'm so sorry that Wrigley is feeling poorly. He is at the best place he could be....what a great mom you are for realizing he needed to be at the vets.
Good luck with your trip and your surgery.....we'll be thinking of you and your Wrigley.
I know that it can be super scary when something seems so out of the ordinary with your kids and/or pets.

Wrigley is in the best place right now. Hopefully all he needs is that course of antibotics and he'll be your bouncy puppy soon!

Take care of yourself and Ill say a prayer for all of you!
Any update on Wrigley??

Wrigley's family- Best of luck at the Mayo Clinic. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
I hope he's okay. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Best of luck and lots of prayers for you and Wrigley.
I'm so sorry he has to be at the vets, but that sounds like it is the best place for him. Positive thoughts for your family to have great results, all of you.
Hello to all of you and many thanks for your prayers and well wishes, too.

We got to pick up Wrigley at 12:00 today!! The vet put him on a soft food that mostly consists of rice and said to keep him on it for two days and then start him in on regular food. They gave him more antibiotics and fluids and let me tell you, we now have the puppy they've always dreamed of!! He is such a DIFFERENT little guy. Really jumpy and happy and energetic, just as we thought he would be! He's so happy - I'm telling you, he's just so much fun to play with. Dawn is going to have a terrific time with him!

He did throw up on the way home from the vets and at first, we were really worried but quickly figured out that he must have been a little car sick. I think that now that the virus is gone, he's going to be fine. He hasn't thrown up anymore today and we've fed him two more times. We're just too hapy!

Now, I just need my tests to come back negative for Lymphoma. I'm hoping that this biopsy is just Mayo Clinic being REALLY cautious. To say that I'm scared is an understatement but I'm trying to not think about it too much.

Thanks to all of you for your support and advice - it has meant alot to all of us, especially Wrigley - slurps to all of you and your dogs from him!!

Will post more pics when I get home and hope to see some that Dawn takes while Wrigley is with her!!
That's great that Wrigley is feeling better! :D

Wonderful news about wrigley. :yay:

Now hoping it will be the same news happening for you, will keep those positive thoughts flowing. :ghug:
What great news! :D Yay Wrigley!

Now Im praying its YOUR turn for a clean bill of health....hang in there! :ghug:
Well, we're off tomorrow morning to MN. I just posted this long response for all of you but something must have happened.

So, this will be shorter. Basically, he had a virus of some sort and the fluids last night and more antibiotics made him well today. He's on some sort of soft food that consists mostly of rice, for the next two days. He's a bouncy, energetic and wonderful puppy now. I can't believe the transformation!! He must have been sick when we picked him up but we thought it was just the heat. He's playing with all of his toys and our kids are just having so much fun with him.......we all are!!

He did throw up on the way home from the vet but I guess it was just being car sick because it hasn't happened since. So, he will be going to visit Dawn tomorrow and I'm so glad she's still willing to take care of our little guy! He had a bath tonight and let me tell you, he's a big fluffball. I really thought he looked a little too skinny, once I saw him wet but maybe it's just because I've never had a sheepie before?

Anyway, we're leaving in the morning - nervous about my biopsy results, etc., but Wrigley has put so many smiles on our faces and so many slobbery kisses, too.

Thanks for all of your well wishes. I'll "talk" to you all when we get back. I have a sneaky suspicion that Dawn might post some pics of Wrigley - Wrigley is soooooooooooooooo excited to meet Chewie and the rest of the gang!!

Talk to you all soon!
Glad Wrigs is feeling better...now on to you. All of my good thoughts and prayers are with you!!

hugs,

Darcy
Yay Wrigley!

Imagine that! The Cubbies were on National TV playing on Wrigley while you were playing with Wrigley!

(Everything posted fine... don't use the back button after you post! :D :D :D that MAY be causing some effects.)
Great news for baby Wrigs!! 1 down 1 to go... good luck to you now.

We all hope you will get a clean bill of health. We are also so happy that Wrigley only had a virus. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this stressful time. I know how soon you can love a puppy. We love Nigel already...and he doesn't even get here 'till Wednesday. Thinking of you. :ghug:
Great news on Wrigley! Way to go sheepie boy! You can't help but smile when they are bounding about. My prayers, positive thoughts and cross fingers go out to you for a good result from your test. :plead: Plz keep us posted. Have a safe trip.
Yay Wrigley!! That's great news. :clappurple:

Hope your test goes well!!
Hi,

Sending positive thoughts your way and I'm so happy for you and your family that Wrigley is back to being a bouncing baby sheepie!! You had a lot of things on your plate so I'm glad you got some smiles when Wrigley was going to be okay. Now it's your turn, take care of yourself and will be thinking of you and your family.

Marianne
So glad to hear that little Wrigley is feeling better, and sending positive thoughts your way for your medical tests.

Laurie and Oscar
So glad to hear little Wrigley is feeling better...A ginger snap cookie will help if he gets car sick...I give them to my puppy when we are travelling. They are the regular ginger snap cookies humans eat...actually I use the "gluten free" ones but if your dog is okay with gluten, the regular ginger snaps are great for nausea.

Hope you have positive results on your tests as well...You and the family and or course Wrigley are in my thoughts and prayers.
Diane
