Yesterday before:

Last night after 3 1/2 hours of trimming.

It started out as a puppy cut. Let me even it up over here. Oh wait, now this is too long, let me even it up over here. Oh no, THAT is too long again...

Tonight--bath! Tomorrow?

More trimming?

   Been there with a head coat trim, years ago had to put a sheepie away from the showring for a few months till it evaned out and grew, same technique ron, ooops not evan so had a go at the other side, snip snip, till not much left to snip. 8O

He looks great :D Enjoy your bath mulligan and make sure you shake and shake so daddy gets a drowning too.

Love his huge black nose. :D He looks like a big puppy now.
  I understand. I was trimming my Lhaso last night when the other dog barked. I shaved down to the skin, so had to do the whole body. This morning could not find him. Thought he had gottenout though the window. Found him under the spare comforter. I was raining and cold today. Tinker was embarassed having to wear a winter fleece.
Welllll, truthfully I intended to shave him down. Took more than 3 hours.

I'm pretty happy overall even if Mulligan isn't, there's a little bit left to do around his paws. He's very sensitive to having his paws touched so it's a long process.

That pic makes it look like his face has a big bulge it it -- I think that's his paw. Kind of out of focus too. My camera is dying. :(
Mulligan looks great. I' m glad it took you three hours. I don't feel so bad now  It took me about five hours today to clip Mardi down.Clippers wouldn't work because he got pelted from swimming. I had to trim him down with scissors and be so careful I didn't nip him where he was pelted. My back is killing me. I'll have to post a pic . Now hopefully so much water won't disappear from the pool . He was like a huge mop.I still have to touch up his face , butt and legs and feet. When your sheepdog is in full coat do you trim the hair around their mouth so it doesn't go in it? I though Mardi's breath stunk but it turns out it was the hair around his mouth. When I clipped him I notiiced it was apparently getting in his mouth when eating .It was kind of clumped in hard points around his mouth .Gross. Please advice.
Thanks ,
herbgirl
Mulligan looks great! He's so cute...

how come you don't post MORE pics of him...hint hint! :sidestep:
He looks so cute and clean and love that nose :D
He looks great, you did a good job :)
I love his eyes.... eyeliner always looks so nice on the blue eyes...
Tasker says "SHORT HAIRED SHEEPIES UNITE"

Great job, it's nice to see some pics of Mulligan!!!!
What a nice job! He looks adorable!! What a rare opportunity for us to see a pic!!!!!!!!!!!
Ron, he looks great!! I know all about the ''easy and quick trim''...im just going to even up on the left side..oh shoot...lets take a little off the right side...oh no, well we can just take a little more off the top.....hehehe...before you know it you have a nekkid sheepdog! :D
Aww, he looks great!!!
Not very happy in the second picture... but they all seem a bit embarrassed when they first get their haircuts.
Thanks for posting more pics of Mulligan, he is so darn cute! :D
AWWWW! :D He looks great! I just love the shaved down sheepie look...Im always reluctant to do it, but then once its done Im delighted!

Does Mully do the "OMG Im so LIGHT!" run around thing that my dogs do? Abby, especially always acts like the weight of the world has just come off of her

Merlin does the dance of the nekkid sheepdog after he's been shaved. He actually HATES  being in full coat. He's a totally different dog when he has short fur. Normal happy go lucky sheepie when in short coat....when he's in full coat he just bumbles around...not much playing.

Its taken a while for hubby to realize its ok if our dogs arent in full coat. He now says he actually prefers the puppy clip (he still doesnt like the shaved sheepie)
Mulligan looks adorable. Mine love being shaved down and seem to gain extra speed when they are shaved down.
Mulligan is such a cute sheepie, nice doo too:)
I thought he was looking good in the first picture! It's my favorite length. Second is fine, he looks ready for summer camp now.
Here is a side view, after his bath and nail clipping....
I still need to do some trimming cleanup -- or not! :D :D :D
It's growing already. :)

Notice he's looking at me, but he's already half headed towards mommy...
Yes, the boy dogs gravitate to the mommies, the girls are daddy's little dogs......at least that's the way with the sheepdogs here.
He looks great!!! But is that a saggy nub roll I see???
I've always said he looks like Pepsi.
There's not much saggy on Mullie, but his skin is loose around his ribs (he was about 15 pounds overweight when we got him) and he doesn't seem to have that really nice tuck he once had. Maybe a few too many treats. Of course this was taken after dinner time. Maybe I'll starve him for half a day and see how he looks then!
He looks great, hey ron mine need a bath and nail trim, wanna another lot to do? Only take about 2 hours to blow dry and I still hate doing nails. :P
lol Elissa, i was just thinking he kinda looked like panda...but then again panda and pepsi could be cousins 8)
Wait, so was the first one the puppy cut and you got out of control? Or you were cutting him down from the first one?
Mulligan, you look mahhhhhhhvelous!!!!

 Always on the lookout for another saggy nub, huh?

Ron, he looks great! He definitely doesn't look pleased in the last picture, but he looks cute! More Mulligan!!

The first pic was the "before" after about 1 month since I last shaved him (and the groomer fixed it) just before the NEOESR picnic.

This time we did it all by ourselves. I did the shaving, Joan gave the after bath and held him while I did his nails and the last bit of between-pad cutting.

(/brag off)

Not exactly "groomer quality".... but I never claimed to be good at this

Ron, you did an EXCELLANT job. I keep mine in puppy cuts or longer just because I can't get the shaving thing down right.... Mulligan looks great! Even his feet, and that is the hardest part....
Naaaaah, his feet aren't very good, that angle was particularly flattering I think. There are a few tufts here and there. It's just not worth a fight and his discomfort over it... it will grow anyway.

Maybe in a day or two I'll take a pair of scissors and try to trim one or two while he's gnawing on new bone or something.

Jake was also very paw sensitive... well, he wasn't at first. Then we took him to a groomer who cut one of his nails in half -blood everywhere- right in front of us. After that, very paw nervous. :(
OK, you asked for it...

None of these Butt Shots really looks right -- the flash washes them out and the depth of the real thing just doesn't show.

To groom him properly, I have to stretch his skin away from the bull's eye and get lots of hair that grows toward the center of gravity there.

Props to Joan for holding him still long enough for my dying camera to try to focus.
Wow - I'm actually impressed! It looks to me like an even trim - good job!!!
All of his pictures look like he's soo sad... he's not! He doesn't look sad in person, unless he thinks it's bath time! sigh...

I'm beginning to think he's camera (or flash) shy.
Gosh - I think you did a great job, Ron. It's really hard to get it even on the feet, especially.

Mulligan is a handsome Mama's boy.

I think he's embarrassed to be named Tinker!! :P  (Just kidding!! It seemed too good a line to walk away from.)

Mulligan looks happy in his first picture. Maybe the sad thing is just his Zoolander/Blue Steel theme face.

I agree!

I have no clue what this means.

Maybe it is just going to take him a few days to forgive me for the grooming session.
Jill, come explain the Blue Steel concept.
He looks happy to have some hair off! Love that expression in the first picture.

We keep our girls clipped at 1 inch because of the Texas heat. Plus, the grooming is a real chore as their hair gets longer. I admire those who maintain the true OES shaggy look.

Good one!

Here are some more Blue Steel images

I really thought it was more Le Tigre but I see where you're coming from.
The cut looks great!
