Anyone know of any puppy sitters in Rochester, MN area??

Hello. We're a family of 6, 7 if you count our new puppy. We live in a small town in Illinois and this is our first sheepdog!! You all helped decide on his name the other day - Wrigley is his name and he's 8 weeks old.

We weren't going to get him until after my surgery (surgical biopsy coming up on the 17th of July. Anyway, we wanted him to stay with the breeder until after my surgery but all the pups are going to their new homes this week so the breeder told us we could take him home when we visited for the second time on Sunday. That being said, she also said she would meet us halfway to their house before we left and she could pick up Wrigley and take care of him while we're gone. This would be great but now that we have him and have been working with him on getting used to the crate, etc., we're wondering if we could find someone who has sheepies closer to where we'll be in Minnesota. I guess we're feeling like we want to be as close to him as possible. Our breeder is actually the opposite direction from where we're going and Rochester is already a good 7 hour drive for us.

I know this sounds like poor planning, my surgery and everything but this was something that couldn't be avoided......I hope you don't think badly of me for picking up our Wrigley a week before I would have to leave him.............

Anyway, we were wanting to find out if any of you knew of someone in the area of Rochester, MN that we could pay to take care of Wrigley. He does great in our van with all of us and so we'd love to be able to let him be with us for the trip and that way, avoid being away from him too awfully long. You all know better than we do, what is your opinion on this subject??

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

I live fairly close - a bit over an hour west of Rochester.
We are in the country, on a farm near Janesville, MN (you can check it on a map).
I just placed my foster 6 month old basset in her new forever home yesterday, and would love to babysit an OES pup. :D
Dawn,

I'm so excited that someone is interested!! I just really want Wrigley to be close to us, as strange as that may sound and he's just melted right into our family!

I would like to see exactly where you would be as far as us driving up to MN. We would be leaving on this Sunday, as my pre-surgical consult is on Monday, the 16th with my surgery the following day. Maybe we should talk on the phone?? If you really would want to, of-course, we'll pay you - just let us know how much you'd like to take care of him for us.

By the way, we really like the name of your sheepdog - so cute.
I PM'd you my phone number. I am at home today. You can get your PM by clicking on the words at the top of the page - right above the "google search" box. :D
Wrigley & Family- I met Dawn, her family and her dogs at Sheepiepalooza in St. Louis a few months ago. They are wonderful people and Wrigley would be in great hands! I hope the arrangement works out for you guys. Best of luck on your surgery.

Dawn- lucky you to have the opportunity to keep a baby sheepie around for a while!! :hearts: Get a whiff of that puppy breath for me! :D
Yay!!! We get to babysit Wrigley. :D :D

I can't wait to meet you guys and baby Wrigley on Sunday. It will be a treat to have such a baby visit us. Todd is excited to have him here too. Yes, can't wait to smell the puppy breath.

Dawn and Todd,

We just want to thank you again, before we even meet you for offering to puupy sit for us! We are so excited that Wrigley will be in another sheepie lover's home. I'm going to post some pictures in the pictures section of Wrigley for everyone to see, that is, if I can figure this out!!

I don't think you really took any pictures! I think your just saying that to buy time! I'm waiting (not so) patiently and I haven't seen pictures yet!! :P
Really, the pictures are pending. I uploaded 7 of them this morning!! :)
Where are those administrators when you need them??

Oh, the sweet skunky puppy breath......
He is laying next to Chewie and I. Chewie is getting his brush out on the grooming table, Wrigley is laying between the legs of the stand dryer. So cute... don't you all wish you could see him.....hehehe

Ps - I see Ron is on.... maybe he will approve the pictures..... or else he feels evil and is holding out on all of you!

Uh huh, sure!! Blame it on the administrators!!

Seriously, I'm glad your having fun with Wrigley. It was so nice of you to puppy sit for his family. I hope they are having as uneventful of an experience at Mayo as possible.
ok ok ok
AWWWW!! What a cutie! :hearts: What does Chewie think of him?
What a beautiful boy that Wringley is. Those blue eyes are gorgeous. Chewie and he are going to have a great time. :)
So glad to see that Ron finally woke up this morning!!!
Please keep the pictures coming.....Wrigley and Chewie are adorable together!
OMG.. not fair!!! sheepie baby in the house
Ok, here are some pictures :D
The brown/yellow smudge is from hiding under the Camaro - Chewie was a bit overwhelming to Wrigley at 1st!
Image
I kept missing the good shots of Wrigley jumping on Chewie - I always got the after-bounce. Also - Chewie is wet from getting washed of after the most recent dip in the pond. Therefore, he's on the cable to dry and not get into trouble!

Wrigley was facinated with the bathroom. He was checking out the toilet - I bet he never has seen one this ugly color before!
Image
Then he had to chew on the little foot lever for the garbage can... :D Sorry for the bad color on this one - it was dark and the flash was the only light.

Wrigley has been a joy. He and Tazz are playing now - Tazz is 8 pounds or so - so they are pretty evenly matched. He tried to get Tipup the cat to play, but Tipup just swatted him everytime he walked/jumped/licked him!

Wrigley is lucky pup - he has a great family to take care of him, play with and grow up into a great sheepie boy.
What a cutie!!! I want to puppy sit!!!! Or at least see one in person.
I just saw this thread. Didn't think to click on it due to the title!!!

SOO CUTE! Love the toilet
OMG.....That is so unfair!!!!

Why can't I live where puppies need to be puppy-sat?

He is absolutely adorable and looks like he is coming along well after the scare he gave everyone!

He and Chewie look great together... :D
OK, I have MORE PICTURES pending approval  :D

I will post these in the pictures section this time!!

Wrigley is a good boy. He has been peeing and pooping normal, no puking. He has a good appetite (still on the canned prescription stuff) and has normal puppy energy. :D
I just saw this thread Dawn, and while I think you are for the most part responsible I would not have given such a great endorsement as Missing Murphy gave you. But alas, the sweet pup is in your hands and it is too late now. Because after all you lured Harry into your evil "Beauty Parlor" at Sheepiepalooza and got your hands on his "masculine" head. I would have felt compelled to mention that to Wrigley's mom, him being a BOY and all! The only good thing I can say is that Wrigley does not have enough hair on his head for you to mess with. :sidestep:

Actually, I don't live very far from them, being in St. Louis so I am a little jealous that you are getting to watch him. Give him a squeeze from me.

Cute pictures! By the way, it is summertime and swimming in the pond is a natural thing to do, so maybe you should untie Chewie! He is too cute (and sweet) to be restricted from pond swimming!
LOL, Judi - very, very funny.

Chewie has been in the darn pond twice this week already! If we didn't have a big 3 day show the end of this month, I wouldn't really care that much. We are on clean patrol from here on out though! He will have to be deprived of his pond adventures for another 10 days...... :)
Thanks for the pictures!! It sure looks like Wrigley is having a terrific time visiting you & Chewie!! :P

I'm so jealous!!
I'm so happy to see that Wrigley is doing well and in good hands. He is a beautiful blue eyed beauty. However, have you ever seen an OES that was not beautiful. How wonderful that you sat for him. Whenever these dogs leave us it is a little sad, but knowing they have a good home is the best remedy. I'm very happy that the family was able to keep him near in Mn. It looks like he and Chewey hit it off quite well.
