Travels Back East with Bosley and Dixie

We left Toronto on Tuesday, June 26th, and got back Saturday, July 7th. We left with a van and a small camping trailer to go to the Atlantic Provinces, specifically for a family reuinion in PEI. We did around 3000 miles.

We left with Dixie sleeping with my son and his friend, in the back of the van.

We camped a couple of nites in the rain, then reached the bridge to Prince Edward Island. It is the longest "something" bridge in the world, at 13 kilometers.

Here we are at the Welcome Center on the island.

We got settled into our cotteges, and met up with my brother and sisters from Alberta and Montreal.

Image

Then we started our week-end feasting on seafood. Spencer sauted up a whole mess of scallops and we steamed a pot of mussles...MMMMMMM!!!!

Image

The next day we went to the local fishing wharf.

Image

We picked out our fresh lobsters. These are about a pound and a half each.

Image

Then we cooked up our lobster dinner out at the cotteges.

Image

The next day was clam digging on the cottege beach. We also found a local market where bar clams were canned. Bar clams are HUGE.

The scenery is breathtaking. I took this just because it was so vivid. A storm was moving in.

This was taken from the front yard of the house my grandfatehr lived in...where I would visit him as a kid and the church we would go to.

We left PEI and drove to Nova Scotia where we stayed with Brenda (Dudster) for 2 days. It was so nice to meet her and her family. Small workd---Her sister-in-law works for the same company as me, and we know some people in common... Details of that visit are in another thread.

During our time there the boys went to Halifax to sight-see for Canada Day. They split up temporarily, and Spencer's freind got mugged. He was only roughed around a bit, but got his Ipod and wallet and money stolen...

Then we left and started on our way home and had a car accident. Details are in another thread. We had to hotel/motel it from there, and the dogs did great.

We stayed a couple of nights in New Brunswick. While walking a bit in Woodstock NB Dixie had the major runs on the sidewalk. It was very embarassing, and she got it all down her leg. We had to wash her off with baby wipes and water from the river....We will always say that Dixie left her mark in Woodstock.

We spent a nite in a motel just outside Edmunston, NB. It was a very quaint log cabin type. This is the front office of the manor.

We then reached Quebec City and met up with one sister. We visited my mother and left the boys at the biggest water park in Canada.

Image

Then at nite we took a stroll around Old Quebec with the dogs. We got stopped by so many people to pat the dogs, and ask about them. Many folks were interested in Dixie's bandages..

Here we are relaxing at the motel.

I found out that there are many, many places that accept. Out of the several hotels/mothel we stayed in there was only one that had a pet charge...It was $10. There was no restriction on size or type of dogs, and all the mangements were so friendly and very accpeting of the dogs.

We have found that Bosley and Dixie travel very well, and even though Dixie would still often only do potty once a day, she adjusted well to the rooms and both dogs slept soundly every nite.

We were very proud of both of them.

Although we did have a one-day delay due to the accident, and Dixie got hurt, we just kept on and still enjoyed our trip immensely.

Nicole: Thank you for sharing your vacation with us. It sounded like it was very enjoyable, other then the accident and the mugging. I hope you enjoyed the Family Reunion also. The first shot with the boys and sheepie is very endering.

Thank you again,
Great trip (all things considered!) and great travelouge.

Thanks for sharing!
What an adventure! I'm so sorry about the accident and the mugging :( Thanks for sharing!
Those are awesome pictures, Nicole!
I don't even know which ones I like the best. :D I love clouds and storms, so I do really like that one! The bridge is cool too, ...well I could just keep listing each one!
Too bad about the accident and mugging, otherwise this sounds like it was the perfect vacation of all time.
WOW, what great pictures and what a wonderful vacation (except for the accident :? ). I 'm so glad that you are all home safe and sound!
thanks for sharing the photos Nicole and glad you had a good time (other than the accident) My visit to PEI got waylaid till Sept :D
Beautiful pics! :)
That was quite an adventure, I felt like I've just been vacationing myself from my chair. Glad the trip was great except for the accident.
sound like a great time love the pics
Great pics. I'm glad Dixie didn't have any trouble traveling again after the accident.

Regarding the runs, Frank still has sloppy ones after we travel in the car. I always have a poop pack handy in the car: Both Terry Cloth & Paper Towels, baby wipes and a couple of bicycle water bottles which are great for hosing off the back end if need be. It's always fun to do this at public places like rest stops, etc. where everyone is watching.
Nicole, those are great pictures. Thanks for the travelog - I really enjoyed it!

What a good idea. I am going to have to make one of these for our future travels.
