feeding an old OES

We have or should I say have been under the loving guidance of Baxrer the Wubawuab.
He is nine years old and since he was a pup ate Innova Large breed for puppies, large dogs and now seniors.

Until a few days ago, he ate it with no concrens, mixed with cooked chicken, beef, pork, ham or cheese (He at times ate beter than I did). for the past several days he will not touch his food if it is mixed with the Innova; the aforementioned additions he will eat, no problem, but not mixed with his food.

Is this senior stubbornness, did he dicuss his meals with the local dogs; has anyone else had this problem?; will it resolve itself? or do we need to explore a new food?

Is it a new bag of food, or an old bag?

Maybe the food smells bad for some reason, and needs to be tossed?

Good luck.
Has it been really hot where you live... maybe causing him to be off his feed? Has he lost weight?

Maybe it's an off batch of food. You might try picking up a small bag of the same food to see if by chance the one he's refusing has a problem. If that doesn't work, try a different variety. If he still won't eat and has lost weight, he should be seen by your vet.

Hoping for an easy fix!
Simon did this. We and the Vet have nooooo idea what the heck was going on with him. He lost almost 10lbs. We finally got some soft food and fed him that for a few days and then started mixing in his dry food. The dry alone he still won't touch. He never did this before and has never been a finicky eater. I'm just glad he's now eating. When this food is gone, we are going to try something different and maybe thats what you need to try. Its worth a shot.
I have an almost 12 year old who eats no matter what so I do find it a bit concerning that your pup would suddenly stop eating food he previously liked. Unless, as someone mentioned, your weather has been unusually hot or you have just opened a new bag I would call the Vet tomorrow.

Is it possible that he has figured out that if he refguses to eat you will give him the "good stuff"?
