B is still not able to get up

I took her back to the vet and they said she needs more exercise. When B is
up she walks but falls down because her lback is not strong enoufg. She doen not like for me to work her legs, the Dr said" it should not hurt, she just wants to be left alone, she is 13'". He said to put her in water therapy, well no where around here is there a place like that, except Sat Antonio. I can't go there but once a day every so often because I can't be off work. I have looked for a horse trouth. They are only 24 in deep but B is 26 in tall. Noone I know has a pool to put her in. Any suggestions? Dr said not acupunture. Please help me. I know she wants up but she is just not strong enough. She had the surgery middle of March

A horse trough! What a great idea!

I don't think it would be a problem with the height (though I don't really know what a horse trough looks like, but I can imagine)... you don't want her over her head, I don't think! Just the water will help with some buoyancy.

But there needs to be a treadmill maybe.... what would you do with her in the tub/trough filled with water? I guess she'd be forced to stand up (being partly supported by the water) the whole time she's in there. Also you'd have to watch her carefully in case she gets too tired. 8O
You might write to Cesar Millan to see where he got his big doggie pool-
wish I had one of those!

What about looking for a pet rehab facility that boards?
Not a first choice, as we have our Sheepies because we want to be around them. But when you think back for what it did for Chum, I would do it in a heartbeat.
Hi,

I'm so sorry you are having to go through this and especially with an older sheepie.

The horse trough sounds like it might work. You may also think about purchasing a doggie harness - they are light, wrap around dogs body and attached with velcro and have long handles which allows you to support doggie's back end when they need to get up.

I purchased mine from http://www.entirelypets.com

hope that's the url but a search online for entirely pets will help.

Thinking of you and keep us updated.
