average amount to feed

I know it's going to vary some but Mater is about 15 months old now and when we got him he was just over 60lbs, I know he's more now as you can't readily feel his ribs anymore (YEAH!!!) but I'm not sure how much since I don't have a scale he will fit on. lol

But anyway, I know I was feeding him too much so I'm trying to cut him down a bit so I was wondering how much you feed.

Our vet had said Lucy needed to gain about 15 pounds (she was about 55 lbs) and suggested that we give her 2 1/2 to 3 cups a day. I'm assuming once we reach her goal weight we'll cut back just a little.

I know we can bring the dogs into our vet at anytime to use the scales. Just a thought if you're curious...
My Maggie is a very active 2 1/2 year old and she eats 4-5 cups per day (divided into two meals) to maintain a skinny 70 pounds.

Chumley is a fairly inactive 10 1/2 year old and she eats 2 1/2 cups per day (divided into 2 meals) to maintain an average 70 pounds.
Clyde eats 4 cups a day. Sometimes he doesn't finish every morsel by the end of the day, other times he does. In the winter, that may be too much but in the spring and summer when he's more active, it's good.
