Pandas vet visit..

I took Panda in this morning for a Dr.'s visit after a week of on and off diarreah and vomitting.....she has excess bacteria in her rectum...cant remember what she called it, but panda has a significantly higher amount....so, they took some blood work and sent us home with amoxicillian and endosorb...2x's a day for 7 days....

We will get the blood results back on monday...so fingers crossed that it isnt anything more than an out of whack rear end....

All in all, the cost was NOT bad in the least...$186.00 for a full cbc, stool check, 2 antibotics and metacam for her leg...

This stuff just makes me nervous, I hate to think that anything is possibly wrong with my baby.

Hugs for Panda and Darcy!!
Hope Panda is feeling bettersoon! :)

Getting some probiotics would be a good idea too... help balance the gut flora....
I hope she gets better soon. Poor Panda baby.
Stacey, is endosorb a probiotic? if not what is it? by prescription or otc?
I hope Panda feels better soon......
and hugs to you too Darcy :D
So sorry to hear about Panda's problem. :(
I hope she'll be feeling better soon.

I'd FOR SURE start a probiotic when giving antibiotics. We're still battling yeast problems after our Panda was on antibiotics for about 5 months. It's best to try to prevent the problem with a probiotic if possible. But ask your vet before starting her on it.

Not sure if it's the same stuff but you might find more info about endosorb here... it doesn't sound like a probiotic to me but I'm not familiar with it.

Endosorb Diarrhea Suspension - 4 oz.
Antidiarrheal-AdsorbentActive

Ingredient(s): Contains activated attapulgite, 750 mg, per 5 mL (teaspoonful) in a base containing pectin, magnesium trisilicate, water, flavors, and sodium saccharin, (an artificial sweetening agent).

Indications: Activated attapulgite is a specially treated mineral clay that adsorbs toxins and toxic materials present in the gut of animals with symptoms of diarrhea. This adsorbent action helps to relieve the irritation, discomfort, and cramping associated with diarrhea.

Dosage and Administration:

ENDOSORBâ„¢ Suspension is made to help alleviate the symptoms of simple diarrheas in animals. If the diarrhea is caused by, or associated with a bacterial intestinal infection, then appropriate antibiotic therapy should be started as soon as possible. Animals being treated with ENDOSORBâ„¢ Suspension should have access to fresh, clean drinking water in liberal portions. Shake well before using.

Leg? Is it related? Vomiting and the runs from pain?
Poor Panda girl. I'll cross my fingers to get rid of whatever it is she has as quickly as possible, and have her back to her sweet sheepie self. Sheepie and Aussie hugs.
Poor Panda I'm so sorry she is sick. I hope she feels better soon :ghug:

Where's our Panda update???

I want to know that our sweetie is feeling better!!!

Hope all is well . . .
Panda is feeling MUCH better! She is acting like her normal hyper self...which is a relief...the toy basket was upended 6x's last night....which means Panda is Panda again :D

Ron, the metacam is for her right rear leg/hip...remember a few yrs ago when she jumped the 2'0'' fence and didnt clear it? Well, ever since then she has had on again/off again limping in that area...the vet really cant find anything...2 sets of xrays .. all is clear...but she does get a little inflamation on that side...the metacam works wonders...she usually takes it about twice a yr....
I'm so glad to hear she's feeling better today. Did you find out anything about the probiotics? Did your vet recommend one?
no, i forgot to ask...her blood work came back great, so its not an internal infection...another big sigh of relief....she just has the poops........

ill call about a probotic...
