Anyone going to the Chicago OES Specialty tomorrow?

Just wondering... only 7 OES will be showing... :(

Our breeder is judging.

Oh man, I have a previous commitment or I would go! This is the first I've heard about it. Do you know where it's being held?
Grayslake, IL (Lake County Fairgrounds Rt 45 & Rt 120)
There are only 3 OES entered on Sunday.

Deb
Leaving for the beach tonight or we'd be there. :sidestep:

Gonna miss everyone next week!
Will you be there, Deb?? What time? If you are going, I'll see what we can do about rearranging schedule. Don't know if I can though (chiropractor)

No, I wish I was because I have a bunch of family in Dekalb, plus our Norfolk, Haggis, will be in the show handled by Ernesto Lara. He's showing in the Terrier Specialty Saturday. (Different dog show, same location). Hopefully (fingers crossed) he will win one of the days, and then he'll have his championship completed.
Deb, if you have family in DeKalb, then you should visit them in October and come to ShepieFest! 4!!!!!

Good luck to Haggis tomorrow. I wish I could be there to see him complete his championship.

Yes, hopefully sooner than later! I really like the Dekalb area plus Chicago is a great city too.

I wish I could see him get his championship too. That's what stinks about hiring a handler, although I got to see him get his first major and that was nice.
YES!
LeAnne is there with Chewie. Uncle Luca is there too. They were the only 2 OES shown in todays's show (Friday). Luca of course beat Chewie and went to group. No group placings today. :(
Chewie is entered tomorrow in the specialty - I believe only 3 dogs are entered. Pretty crappy entries for a specialty!!

Anyway, LeAnne drove out Thursday after work, is staying with Chewie's breeders Marnie and Kristine and they are having fun. I had to work and do a previous TDI testing commitment this weekend..... :(
Little Breanna went with - she is loving all the dog show stuff. She already is a super little dog trainer - does a whole hour obedience class with her uncle's min pin at age 4! (and he even listens and work for her too.) Can't wait until she is 9 - Jr Handlers - look out!
NO :( Toooo far to go. :P

Best wishes for Haggis Deb, we are keeping fingers, toes and paws crossed that a new lil Ch. for tomorrow, what a bummer you are not there to watch just in case he does get it. :?
Deb- best wishes to Haggis to finish today :D :D
I know it is supposed to be beastly hot too, hope all goes well. Pictures????
I talked to LeAnne today. The show went well. Jere Marder's bitch (sorry - don't know the name) took best of breed. Chewie got best of winners and best of opposite. And got 1 more point!! There were 6 OES shown.

LeAnne said there were lots of nice prizes offered by the Chicago club. I guess the windchimes are great! I can't wait to see. They didn't bring cameras with, so I will have to wait for the show picture they had taken to come.

How did Haggis do?
Congratulations to Chewie, how many more points to go to make him a CH ?

Well done to Chewie and LeAnne, can't wait to see the piccys . :D
Chewie got 2 points in his 1st show in January, this is his 2nd show. He has a whopping 3 points now!
So what does that mean? How many points make up the Title?

(Can you tell I am from O/S and have no idea  )
15 points are required. :D So we still have a ways to go.
How does a dog become a champion in Oz?

A lot more complicated, here goes.

Best Dog and Best Bitch is awarded Challenge Points, 6 points for the challenges and 1 point for every OES entered. Example, Challenge Bitch 6 points - Other Bitches entered say another 5 in the classes so another 5 points added to the challenge. Same applies for the dog and the dogs entered in classes.

Best of Breed gets the added points of the Opposite as well onto there challenge certificates.

If you take out 1st in Group then your breed challenges are changed with a group Challenge of a maximum of 25 points.

100 Challenge points needed to make the title up of Ch.

A dog cannot be awarded the title under 12 months of age, say you already have that 100 points then 25 must be gained after 12 months of age to gain the title of Ch.

Confusing EH 8O
Well I did give the overly simple version.
Winners dog and winners bitch get the points, also based on the number of each sex shown. For example - with dogs - 1 point for 2 dogs, 2 points for 4 dogs, 3 points for 5 dogs, on up to 5 points for 8 dogs. There is a similar scale for bitches.
Someone else will have to jump in on majors. There are majors - getting 3-5 points at a show. I know that at least one major is required to attain a championship - eliminates the possibility of going to only low entry shows and getting your championship!
You actually need at least 2 - 3 point majors to get your championship in the US, so 6 of the 15 points have to be in major competition levels. Each region of the country varies on how many dogs/bitches, for each individual breed, entered equals a major competition

Congrats on Chewie getting another point today! :D

Jere's bitch is CH Divine Miss M who has been doing quite well in group competitions recently.

Haggis didn't get winners dog yesterday, or today, but I heard he showed really well. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
Also, the majors must be under different judges. Dawn, is Chewie from Masqerade?
Yes, Chewie is a Masquerade puppy. He is out of Kristine L's female Mad Money (Maddie).

I saw Kristine and Gale showing their 2 girls in rally - I was in the same class with my basset Simon. Their dogs got 1st and 2nd place in our rally class - very good for 2 OES!! I knew then that I wanted one of the pups, if the aunts worked like that!!!
