I'm new, be gentle!

Hi, my name is Emily, and I have a sheepie named Stella. She was sort-of a rescue dog. I found her on the classifieds at my work, selling for only $100. I was curious as to the low price, and when I called they said they couldn't handle her and were on the verge of sending her to the pound! I rushed over, gave them the money, and my new life as a sheepie mommy began. Stella is wonderful!! She does have some issues with her behavior (she is extremely hyper, so much so that it makes training her difficult), but I have been assured that eventually she will mellow out. She is 1 year and 4 months old. We are open to any and all advice :)

Welcome Emily, and Stella too!!

As you know it seems that Sheepers don't start to settle until between the ages of 2 and 4 years! I am so grateful that you saved this girl from who-knows-what, and I'm glad that you've found our little corner of the web.

I'm looking forward to pictures!
Welcome to the forum! :)
Welcome Stella and Emily!!

Find a good obedience class in your area and give her lots of love and attention (AND EXERCISE) and she will settle.
Hi Emily!! Welcome and yes they can be hyper :excited: but such great pets!! Exercise and classes work wonders!!
Welcome Stella and Emily from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Welcome Emily and Stella! Bailey has become much calmer recently, and he's 2 1/2. So you have plenty of hyper puppy time left with Stella! You'll miss it when it's gone. I agree - training classes to teach YOU how to be in charge, and plenty of exercise to use up that puppy energy. Good luck with your new family member, and Welcome!
WELCOME WELCOME! Please post pictures. I am also waiting for my sheepdog to get calmer...he's 18 months old.
Greetings Emily and Stella! Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on finding eachother!

LOL, that's quite alright... it was bound to happen eventually :)

Thanks for the welcome!
WOW, thank you all for the wonderful warm welcome!

I bought a Gentle Leader for Stella, and we tried it out last night, and she was FABULOUS on it!! We walked for almost an hour all around our neighborhood, and I had no problems with her. After that she was so calm in the house... I think she's going to do just fine, now. I am going to change my schedule a bit to get an early morning walk in as well.

I have some behavioral questions regarding Stella, but I'll post those under behavior to try to be consistent.

Thanks again for the welcome... it's great to meet all of you!
Welcome Stella and Emily - from Bingley and another Emily! :D
Welcome Emily and Stella! :D
Welcome Emily and Stella, from Chris and Drezzie in PA!

If Drez's hips were good, at almost 14 she'd STILL act like a puppy!
I don't have any pics of Stella to post yet (they are on my other computer which is not working). But here's a link to a very short clip of her on YouTube. There's also a few video clips of my kids and my bunny on there...
