What's your favorite Sheepie knick knack?

I know you collect them. We all do. We can't help it. Our enthusiasm for our beloveds spills over into all areas of our lives. We decorate our homes, our shelves, even our selves with all manner of statuettes, paintings, cup towels, Christmas ornaments, etc. What's your favorite?

It's hard to see them, but I collect sheepie polymer clay ornaments!

My favourite is my Royal Doulton Sheepies...I have two...one is glazed and one is unglazed.

I also have quite a collection of Coopercraft sheepies in assorted sizes. Most of my coopercraft and other sheepies I have gotten thru ebay.
i dont collect anything..(besides shoes)....i leave that up to Brian....he collects too much stuff as it is........and i have to dust it......I want a maid..... 8)
DEFINATELY my MERRYMACS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to downloqad (or is it upload??) a pic and will post when approved.

Look at that!!!!!!!!!!!!! Approved ALREADY   There are a couple that got cut off the Left side of the picture.

I started my Merrymacs back when Kaye was having the rescue auction and have been addicted ever since. They have all come from e-bay at a fraction (well except maybe the rescue ones which lots of folks here were bidding on  ) of the cost. They are all from the shaggy dog collection except for the two in the middle. The little white one is in deference to Ty and the Cocker Spanial is in memory of my cocker Buffy who has been gone about 13 years now.
While I have the little miniatures and all the big stuffed, and various bone china cups, my favorite is a print by Anastasia Bunte. Plus it's easy to dust........thinking about what Darcy said.
So far.... I only have a stuffed Sheepie and a Sheepie picture frame.

I don't know if this qualifies for a collectible, but when I got Barney as a pup and began brushing him, I deposited the hair in an empty 50 lb dog food bag. I'm still using the same bag for both Barney and Maggie - have never emptied it. So unless you want to consider the furballs vacuumed up from the floor and the stuff they leave at the groomers, I've got all their hair in one bag since I got them.

Uh, George...what are you planning on doing with all of that hair??????? 8O
Hey - I'm saving Chewie's too!!!!

I am going to have it spun into yarn and I am going to knit myself a mitten and scarf set.

I have a friend with stuff knitted from her Samoyeds' hair - neck warmer, mittens, facemask cap, headband. Also, Chewie's breeder has a scarf from OES hair. They are soft and super warm.

As an avid knitter I always thought that would be a WAY COOL thing to do!! But I lack the know how to get it from furball stage to useable yarn stage!!!
I have a few odds and ends... I have a few stuffed sheepdogs, and a few coffee mugs with sheepdogs, my favorite being the one from Terry Dennis in Australia :) I would have to say my favorite is a clay sheepdog that my daughter made in school a few years ago :)
My m-i-l tried to make me something out of Maudie's hair (our first OES). She has all of the equipment to do it - the cards (brushes) to straighten the fur, a spinning wheel and such. She has done sheep's wool, over the years. But she couldn't get it to work on Maudie's hair - wrong texture maybe.
Someone who really knew what they were doing could probably have done better.
I'll think about it, George. Right now I kind of want it to be Chewie's. I may get impatient and change my mind though!

I may have it spun with a little wool and angora. I've seen and felt Golden Retriever hair spun like that and it was wonderful. :D
Just as an FYI, in case anyone is interested in starting a MERRYMAC collection. There are currently two listed on e-bay, I have them or wouldn't be spillin the beans  . This is the second time they have been listed so I suspect you could pick them up at a great price.

Me too, shoes, dusting, maid! I'd rather have the real live Sheepie sitting on the shelf (yes, I've found Ellie sitting on a shelf several times). 8O
I don't have too many things, just a few very precious ones.

But! I do have the Ty Beanie Baby Fursten Sheepie in my car. He goes everywhere with me! And I bought them for my kids as well!
I only have 3 sheepie stuff animals. My Mom has a HUGE sheepdog collection which I keep meaning to takes pictures of. Next time I there I'll take some snapshots.
oh my, someday i will take a picture of some of the items. There isn't a room n the house that doesn't have some picture or other of OES in it. But then i've been collecting for over 25 years!

As to the hair. It has to be mixed with another fiber............ wool or alpaca etc. I started spinning a couple of years ago. I have HUGE amounts to be spun and i just havent picked up my wheel in a year since i moved here to the new house. I even have another whole gigantic box of hair to be sent off to be cleaned and carded (too much time for me) and mixed with wool. I even have 3 alpaca pelts sitting in the box. Guess i need to do this... then get busy.

Ali
My giant stuffed sheepie from Dulux Paints. :D

Image

MERRY MACS, addicted to them.

And a mantle clock with cute lil OES on it, just love it. :D

Image

And sheepies hogging a couch statue.

Image

Not to mention all the OES pictures and plates (run out of walls to hang anymore  ) and all the statues.

I AM NOT ADDICTED, I AM NOT ADDICTED. :twitch: :sidestep:
Lisa, I AM IN LOVE WITH THAT CLOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ali - do you know the mixing percentages of dog hair to wool?

I like wool, so I could stretch out the dog hair percentage - especially if I add in angora to the mix. :D

My current favorite mitten/scarf set I knitted is from a blend of wool, alpaca and angora. Dyed blue, and the fibers each picked up different amts of dye. Very cool!
Hi Dawn,
a bit sleep depraived here........... I THINK i did a 60 dog hair 40 whatever. the angora sounds wonderful!!!!

I'll tr to take a picture of some of my yarn i've spun. i have knitted shawls and felted mittens and slippers. I don't have the patience to do a sweater......... maybe this winter, lol.
