kayaking vs. windserfing

My husband and I sea kayak for many years now. We went out yesterday and saw a bunch of guys windserfing! I never saw them before, it was really windy, so i guess that's why they were all out. It looked sooo good!!! I want to learn. Anyone has any experience with this? I know nothing about it, so if anyone knows any good companies to get the equipmnt from that would be great. Oh, must have a doggy coment, Mopsey loves the beach! LOL

for your first time i'd suggest a rental.

i can't speak for windsurfing, but i know surfing is MUCH more of a rush of adrenaline than kayaking (IMO), most big beaches and tourist spots have rental houses where you can acquire for a short time all you'd need.

shouldnt be much over 100 bucks for the day, so you don't get ripped off ;)
Hmmm, really!? Around here windsurfing isnt a big thing, from what I saw. The beaches in NYC, Brooklyn, specifically doesn't have those rentals. I am going to go and see anyway, 'cause I never looked for them before, so maybe they are there? Anyway, I was just checking out the sites that sell the stuff and its not cheap. My kayak cost around $1700 five years ago. The thing is, its not fun to navigate during high winds and big waves. If you go over, your spray skirt is holing you in, and you better not panic and slip it off while you are underwater very very quickly, or your fishfood. And its not easy getting back in the boat, especially with waves around, because the boat will take it water, and you have to either pump it out, or turn it over. Both are not fun. Anyway, when I was watching the surfers, when they fell off, they just got back on, and it looked so easy. I know its because they know what they are doing, but still. Thanks for the suggestion. I was reading a bit about it and you can go as fast as 45 mph!!!!!! Yeeee haaaa! This is probably a project for next summer, though. Going back to work on Monday. Yuck!
there's a privately owned (but publicly accessible) beach on rhode island, some drive from NYC that definitely has all sorts of rentals, depending on weather conditions they get some really good waves and some decent winds too...if i figure out what its called ill give you the name if you want to look for it.
Oh yeah that would be great! Thanks Ed! :D
I love the new avatar, Marley! You both look beautiful! Stormi and co.
Thanks! LOL She's a hoot! Well, we couldn't get into the vets today. We were waiting for a long time, and he kept getting these emergency cases in, and the receptionist asked us to reschedule. So, I asked her to let the doctor know that I want him to call us. He did, and asked to bring in a urine sample at no charge! She peed on herself today again, while sleeping really hard. I have been reading up on the causes and it looks like it could be stones, or UTI (don't think it is), or low muscle control. But she does it only in her sleep, and not always. Never at night. I am so confused, and worried. Will get the sample to him tomorrow. *sigh* Don't know what to think. She is so young. Wrong topic, I know, but I am venting. :(
Marley & Mopsey

I would doubt that they are stones at her young age. But a UTI is a possibility.

Tyler had stones removed last year, he was 10 at the time. One was huge, three others were the size of dice and squarish to boot. The large one was the size of a door knob. My Vet said that often a UTI can be the begining cause of stones but diet is also a contributor. Kiera had some issues when we first got her, she is 5+ at the time and would pee in the house. At first we thought it was due to her adjusting to the new household, then I noticed that she had blisters on her belly. I took her in to the Vets. She had a UTI and skin infection, staph was the bacteria, not good. but we got it cleared up and no more incidents in the house.

Just some thoughts
Hmmm, thanks Tylersmom! I brought the urine sample to the vets yesterday, and called to see if the results were in just an hour ago. The vet was busy, and sais will call me back. I am very anxious, bacause i think her belly feels very warm, and i ofcourse am now obsessing about the possibility of her having a fever. What is the normal temp. for a dog? I am thinking of measuring it at home myself. She hasn't eaten much today. The vet better call soon or i am gonna go to his office and knock the door down. LOL
Marley,

As I remember it is 101 or 102 for normal. Higher than ours, as I understand one reason diseases dont pass easily between species. The Vet tech should be able to tell you if she has an infection to put your mind at rest.
did the vet call back?
