Airplane Questions

:bulb:
I'm super-excited as I just got tickets for Bingley and I to go to MT for a visit to my parent's house. HOWEVER I'm really nervous about Bingley traveling by plane. I'd love any encouragement and/or advice from people who have done this before! We managed to get a flight with only one layover, which is for two hours in Seattle. I was encouraged by this as it will be less hot in Seattle than in, say, Atlanta. We're traveling in the hot month of July so bring on the tips!!!!!!

Sounds like it will be a fun trip!

If you look through the airline tip/airplane topics on this board, there are tons of tips that people may forget when answering now (or while you're waiting for a reply). I just browsed on page 2 and found some topics! :)
I just shipped Suzi's half brother to Texas and they only allowed me to put two towels in his crate, nothing else. (Stupid terrorists!!!) If they'll let you put them in, take the cups that come with the crate and fill the water bowl and freeze it and wet his food in the other one and freeze it too. It'll thaw slowly so he has a cool drink and snack and it won't make a mess.
Great idea about freezing his water - I will definitely do that if they let me. I wondered if they would even allow me to bring my own water for him with all the hype about liquids now.
They wouldn't allow any water when we looked into shipping Yuki. Just food, in a ziplock bag that they would give to him. They only allow you to bring 4oz of water for a baby, so I doubt they would let you bring more for a dog. However, I've gotten in 3 times now with a juice box they overlooked, and 3 water bottles because they were so careless.

Is there a place they will put your dog while in the delay in Seattle? ...a place you can see them? We couldn't for Yuki, but that's when they said they'd feed her.

If the flight isn't 8 hrs, hopefully your dog won't pee. A soiled towel with dog on top would stink. I wouldn't want my dog laying on a soiled puppy pad either. Yuki probably would only pee after we land and she sees her daddy, so it would be standing up wagging her tail while she waits for him to unlock the cage.
Apparently my grandma's next door neighbor is a manager at the Seattle airport and he deals with the same flights I'll be on. I'm hoping to have an "in" and be able to see him in the middle!
