I am currently enrolled in puppy class with Scarlet and grade one class with Avalon. At dog school we have to teach the puppy to go pee on command.....right now we are at the stage to just say your phrase as the puppy is peeing....you can say what ever you like....I chose "go pee"

So as Scarlet is peeing I have been saying 'go pee' for a week now. So its time to start telling her BEFORE she pees...to "go pee".

Yesterday I was doing dog school homework with Avalon in the house with all the dogs as a good distraction for her. Scarlet runs to the back door, she needs to go out. My youngest daughter says "I think Scarlet needs to go outside" I told her ok, I'll unleash Avalon and take them all out.....my daughter says to Scarlet "Do you have to GO PEE?" as she says this....Scarlet pees on her foot. Shocked

I guess I can say that Scarlet understands the command "go pee" Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing
Laughing priceless Laughing
Haha... careful what you wish for!

ROFLMAO!!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing
Did you give Scarlet a treat? Cool

Laurie and Oscar (we sign "potty" in our house Smile )
ah what a good little girl Very Happy
WOW - I say that's making progress! And I bet you will think twice before saying that inside again!!! Wink
Thanks for the laugh Laughing Laughing That was priceless, now you will all have to be very careful of the PEE word inside. Laughing

I use "twinkle time", sounds better with the neighbours then, then me yelling PEE outside. Wink They already think I am the nutty dog lady next door. Wink

LOL Mine have all been taught to pee and poop on command and my neighbors probably get a laugh out of me standing outside in pj's talking to giant Tucker puppy "Ok go poop!" "Hurry up and go pee!"
If he doesn't respond to go poo, or poop, I have to resort to saying "ok do a poopy" and although I sound like a moron, it works Laughing
Smart girl! Laughing Laughing Now you'll have to retrain her not to pee in the house.
What a good girl! Laughing

I tell my crew to "go pottys". They will then start serious sniffing and find a spot.
Edgar hasn't done that, but we've caught ourselves almost saying the phrase inside a few times and been careful not to.

In our case, the phrase is 'Go hurry up'. My sister in law (who raised Rotties once but now just keeps Aussies) trained all her dogs with that phrase. It has the advantage of not making you feel quite so silly while holding the leash of a dog who must sniff every blade of grass at a rest stop before selecting the ones he wants to decimate.

On the plus side, it sounds like you're dog is making good progress.

I guess she gets an A+ on her homework.
What an incredibly smart girl you have there!

When I trained my Bichon, I used "Hurry Up", and that worked pretty good. However, one day I was babysitting, and my friend's daughter was taking forever to pick up the toys, so I said in a very toddler-friendly chipper voice, "Hurry up, please". Brooklyn was walking by, and immediately stopped in her tracked and squatted. Laughing
hahaha!!! That's funny!!
