I've been reading a lot of posts today with opposing points of view, some almost hostile.
I just want to say that I love my sheepies, and I don't care where they came from or what their pedigrees are. It's sad that so many dogs are unwanted, for whatever reasons, but a person who truly cares about his/her pet wiill accept them, flaws and all, and do their best to help them through any medical or aggression issues. All I know about Cooper's background is that he lived in the Chicago area, and he is a wonderful, healthy dog, with a great temperament. Lizzie came from a breeder here in Iowa, the last of her litter left and the runt. No, I didn't check the bloodlines, or the breeder's background. The point is, I was willing to accept her, as my pet, flaws and all, and work it out. She's a great dog, very sweet, a few minor health problems ( low thyroid and an eyelid that rolls back which occasionally causes matting in her eye), but I wouldn't give her up for the world!
So, SMILE and enjoy your sheepies!
I think we all feel the same way! Some of the posts referring to "mill dogs" were only suggesting that they probably wouldn't be good candidates to breed and/or show. I think we are all just trying to make sure that people are educated about responsible breeding and the serioius consequences of puppy mills. We all have our passions - and sometimes our emotions come out very strong in our emails. Embarassed

I'm in no position to judge anyone elses dogs - and never would!

I have 3 dogs - Brittney who I have no idea of her background - we adopted her from a family who just had a baby and couldn't 'deal" with having a sheepdog (actually - they had two - the boy went somewhere else). Presley who is from a horrible breeder in our area (didn't know any better at the time) and Sydney who is from God only knows where - I got her from Rescue - and she's deaf! Presley has an AKC registration - which to me means absolutely nothing! As her mother, I can absolutely say with no doubt that she would be laughed out of a show ring! Smile

I couldn't love my girls anymore than I do! Although - I wouldn't ever get another one without thoroughly investigating the breeder first! I am lucky with Presley - things could have been a heck of a lot worse! Other OES from that breeder have had severe health problems - including hip dysplasia, deafness and aggression issues.

I've done just about everything wrong you could possibly do - so I just try and help others learn from my lessons! Smile
