New England Specialty

The NEOESC specialty is Sat., June 2 in Wrentham, MA

Anyone going to be there? Nice size entry this year.
Respond to this topic here on forum.oes.org
Guess I am the only one going.
Hi Jo-Ann,

Do you have more info on this? Where in Wrentham
is it being held? What time is the event?

Thanks!
Hi,

Sure, it is at the Crackerbarrel Fairgrounds.

OES Sweeps start at 1:15 and regular breed classes start at 2:00.

The NE club has a lunch, raffle and it's always fun. I sure hope Betty makes her sheepdog cupcakes!
I'm pretty sure we need pictures of the cupcakes :)
Nope JoAnn, We're going to be whelping puppies here this year!

You guys have fun....... What a fantastic entry you guys have! Sounds like the ones when we were back there that I have pictures of and remember....

Ali
Ali,

I know you do show up, but I think you have other things on you mind... like puppies.

The cupcakes are amazing and taste good too. I'll try to take a picture.

I was hoping to meet a couple of you guys there, but I guess you are all going to be tired out from your big week end.

Hope your week end is great and hope you all take lots of photos.
OK, Joan and I are thinking about a visit. A few questions come to mind:

Is it all outdoors or indoors or a combination thereof, and what is the admission, is there a website about it, where the heck are the Crackerbarrel Fairgrounds...

I think we may have been members of NEOESC for a year back in 92 before the split between NEOESC and NEOESR. Neither Joan nor I are sure about that.
Ok, there is a website for NEOESC, guess what it's URL is? duh

It's OK Ron. No Duh necessary. I knew they were working on a site, didn't know it was up yet. Thank you for the info.

Hope you guys can make it. Let me know. It is outside with a club tent. Admission for parking. It is usually about 100 degrees or 40 degrees with rain and wind. I am spoiled with so many indoor shows in W. Springfield, MA.

Hope this year is perfect weather.
Jo-Ann,

Are you a member of NEOESC?

I assume that Joan and I would need to be sponsored to join...

I'm also going to PM wadepuppy, she is listed as secretary there.
Have fun with your ENORMOUS entry in Massachusettes!! What great numbers! We will be in PA, had to stay local since I have a sound gig that night.
Guess we'll have to wait and see you in Michigan for the National.
Michigan, yay!
Please tell Rick Tocco Deb says hello! (He's pictured on the front of the NEOESC Specialty link with Quincy, who is Frank's dad & Rebecca's brother) Most likely he'll be showing his dog Auggie Doggie ,(Seathwaite's Cartoon Character) has the greatest temperament & is very cute too!
Hi all,

Let's see. Ron, sure I'll sponsor you and Joan if you'd like. Wadepuppy is secretary. They area small group and the few member do a great job. I'll be stewarding, come and say "hey".

Maxmm.... will miss you. I figured you would go to the Phil. show. Mickey is entered and you could have finally met the little goof.

Verveup, I will say hi to Rick. I am sure he will be there after the great win he had last year.
Joan and I are going to try to show up at the specialty at least for a little while. Yay!

43 entries! Holy moly! It will be hard not to bring Mulligan.
Wow, 43 entries 8O That's huge!

I'll bring my checkbook, bring an application! :D

What time does everything happen? I see sweeps at 1:15 and breed classes at 2:00 -- is there anything goin on before and after? How long do things normall last?

They need to put times of day on that page...!
Usually lunch is after breed, but because breed isn't until 2:00, they were talking about making it available before sweeps. Not sure, but can check. After breed there will be the raffle and get together. IF breed starts on time it should be done around 3:30 or so.

I am planning on getting there around noon to help get things set up. Hope it isn't too hot. Supposed to be close to 90 here, but, hopefully, cooler in Wrentham.

See you then!

As an average, it's about 2-3 minutes to judge each dog. So the sweeps will probably end right about the time for the regular judging to start. Regular judging will take more than an hour if all of the dogs show up.

Correct, it is usually 25 dogs an hour. The only hangup is last year the specialty before OES ran, if I remember correctly, 45 to 60 minutes late.
I understand they have a larger group too. That's why OES are on so late. Just in time for late afternoon thunderstorms. I am there, so it has to happen.

I don't see times and ring info there; do I have to click on something to see it?

EDIT: OK, under "Judging Program" gives the time and the ring.
Wasn't that Ron showing Mulligan in Ring 15????

Very nice meeting you Ron and Joan! :D
MY pleasure!

Joan and I left before the showing started -- they were at least an hour late getting going and I just couldn't take the heat anymore. Poor doggers!
Very hot to show OES in this kind of weather. Lots of ice packs & fans help though...

So who won???
I'm curious, too! How did it go? How was the local show for you, Mandy?
HOT, HOT, HOT!

OK, My bad.... even stewarding I didn't get the correct names of dogs. Marnie's dog who won Westminster (I think) won the Breed, Heidi, owned by Madeline Erickson was Best of OP and Sandy and Kay Woodard's boy was Best of Winners and WD. A Shagshadow bitch was WB.

The judging didn't start until LATE. The 1:15 sweeps started after 2:00. Breed started about 3:30. It was not the most comfortable situation.

The TT ring was as far from the OES ring as possible. By the time we walked to that ring, Mickey was pooped and really didn't show well. He was such a good boy and sat in his crate with his fan while I stewarded. He we very happy, as I was, to get home at 7:00!

Sorry this is so long.
Here are the results for the New England Specialty if anyone is interested..
