Weather's Looking Grim for Sheepiepalooza

Man, I keep checking and checking but the best we seem to be getting for the weekend is scattered thunderstorms in St. Louis. That is a serious bummer for all of us coming from far away-- well, for everyone really. I may reconsider the trip if the forecast doesn't change by Thursday. I'll be really sad if the forecast doesn't improve but I'd hate to coop the boys up in the motel room for 2 days or, worse yet, soak my 2 full coated guys and spend the rest of the weekend blow drying Bear to avoid mildew.

Yes, I am wussing up...

Oh Jill noooooo

We are keeping our prayer line going as well as crossing our paws. They keep stressing two things on our local weather channels:

1) That if there are showers they will be intermittent

2) To keep an eye on the forecast because the rain prediction is not definite

That being said - I hope you can still come - but the weather is not something we were ever going to have control over and it was our concern when we planned this months ago.

In the meantime we have a lot of stuff planned - including London running wild in the motel room. 8O Actually I did a visit to two of our Saturday locations tonight with my adult son and he said "Mom if the rain holds off I think this event is going to be a lot of fun."

Now I am going to add another thing to my list to worry about. :(
Jill -- It will be such a shame if you can't make it but I totally understand with the grooming burden. Do the boys have raincoats? We could pack some for you. . .

As you all know, perpetually short-haired Maggie loves MUCK. She spent tonight playing with Ziggi in a soggy field during a rainstorm. She was digging her shoulder into the mud and rolling gleefully with her legs in the air. She came home brown and stinky but a hot shower fixed her right up.

So count us in, rain or shine.
Boo & I are still coming too. Boo's looking forward to chasing Maggie through the mud. He, of course, will still look squeaky clean, 'cause he's Scotchguarded. Well, that, and he doesn't LIKE to get dirty. He does love to chase Maggie though!!

Jill - don't wuss out! I agree with Judi on the intermittent thing. If the raincoast Val brings don't fit, I always have garbage bags in the car!
Hey - anyone have sheepie sized raincoats available by them????
I checked here and the stores either are sold out or don't stock them that big. I need 2 if anyone can find them!!!!
I got Guinness a neo-paws rain/body suit from AZAR trading out of Ontario 1888 DOG SHOE, they have hoods and shoes but I just got the suit. Too bad I won't be using it in St Louis :( :(
I've got extra raincoats and I will bring them. Not sure how many. I will count today. My favorite is by outward hound and is intermittently available at Target.
LOL, There's gonna be a run on large & extra-large raincoats today.

Thanks for the Target tip, Val!
Alright MRS. BUTTERSSTOTCH (tee hee) listen up!

A little rain and mud is not going to hurt Clyde - his "miracle hair" as we like to call it will right itself after the weekend with one good grooming session.

As for Bear, can you say PARTY!!!!!!

If Bear gets wet we are going to have a "cord blow drying party" at the hotel each night. I personally will come with my dryer and extra extension cords. Bear will have more womens hands over him than a Chippendales dancer!

As for you, do you MELT when it gets wet? :sidestep:
What Judi said!
Lol. Rain doesn't bother me too much, and I'm not even too worried about Clyde. It's Bear. We finally got the moldy stench out of his legs from the wet winter. Unfortunately, also, he's way too big for any raincoat I've ever been able to find. A Great Dane size coat won't even begin to wrap around him.

And Judi, I know you couldn't plan for the rain-- of course you couldn't. I'm not whining abut it like you guys picked the wrong day! I'm PO'd at the weather gods for potentially jacking up my trip.

I'm seriously having a war in my mind over this and it's stressing me out something awful!
We have a professional groomer's blow dryer that we will be bringing with us along with shampoo, grooming brushes, etc...

Hey Judi, Is there somewhere up there that has a do-it-yourself grooming places where we could bath the dogs if needed?

We don't own any raincoats so I guess I need to go see if I can find any.

Guess me wearing white is not a good idea huh?

Depends on how much attention you want!
We'll be there come hell or high water! Three sheepies with short, medium and long hair... we don't care if they get wet and muddy. Hey, we're taking hubby's SUV!

Bringing lots of towels, 4 hp dryer and all the grooming stuff we can fit in the car. See everyone there! :excited:

Perfect! Maggie would love to help add some splash to your outfit! 8O
Hope the weather cooperates for all of you! Sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun.

I forgot to answer the question earlier. Yes there are several places you can wash a dog. They may not stay open late but I can certainly help you find one.
Any problems with wet dogs, bring them back to the house and let them dry off there overnight. Anyway:

IT'S NOT GOING TO RAIN - THE NUNS ARE TAKING CARE OF THAT FOR US - O YE OF LITTLE FAITH!
PS: I have a large commercial sink in the Basement big enough for any dog, and I'm open 24/7. Plenty of towels. I knew there was a reason for waiting till after Sheepiepalooza to install that hardwood flooring! :D
Thanks val for the target tip - i forgot they have dog stuff.  And i even bought Simon's awesome winter coat there too!

I have an outward hound raincoat for Simon - they are the best!! :D
I ordered an Outward Hound foul weather coat today, so I've done my part to ensure that it doesn't rain!
While I hope it doesn't rain, I'm also hoping that it's not extremely hot!
Just remember Murphy's Law of Special Events....I EVERYONE brings raincoats and umbrellas....warm dry weather is assured!
Sending good vibes for nice sunshine over there from here.

If not then "Dry as a bone coats and gum boots needed"

George hope you have heaps of towels ready to go.

IT WONT RAIN, NO IT WONT RAIN, NO IT WONT RAIN ON THE DAY. :plead:

Send the rain here instead we need it. :D
I did get a little discouraged when I saw the weather report but it's not going to keep SamSun and I from coming. Gas prices hurt me a lot worse than a rain shower does. SamSun just got a nice grooming today so his hair is not too long. Everybody just keep praying for beautiful weather. You know how the forecast goes, it changes everyday.
Just do what I do...avoid the weather reports altogether. That way there is no bad weather...lololol
It's pouring here now - we are in a flash flood advisory.

Rain here, rain at Sheepiepalooza - I figure we might as well be there having fun than sitting at home! :D
