I need to find a good home for my OES.

I need to find a good home for my AKC OES. He is a year and 2 months old. He is up to date on his shots and is house trained. It's going to break my heart to give him up, But he is jummping the fence into my neighbors yard and they have told me twice already that they will shoot him if he jumps it again. These people are not nice people and have cussed me and my children. Please help me find him a home as soon as possible.
I live in SC.

Are you keeping your female? Please have this boy neutered before he is placed....Make that his adoption fee, if you'd like...Or contact a rescue group who will take him in, have him altered and then place him.
I already found a home for my female a good while ago. And his behavior got a lot better almost like over night. He is a very good dog and knows how to sit, fetch, shake and when to give hugs. The only problem is my neighbors. I believe they will do something to hurt him.
If you fear your neighbors will cause him harm, you're probably right so
it's best to get him out before something bad happens. If you're unable to
find an individual to purchase him, you might consider contacting one of
these rescues that assist in South Carolina.

I counted the number of OES on Petfinder today and there are 78 homeless
OES or OES-mixes listed!! I have never seen such a high number before. I
hope your sheepie finds his new home soon. Please drop me a note if
have trouble locating a rescue to assist.
It wasn't that long ago when 30 sheepies on Petfinder was a lot.
I've got to stop checking petfinder and the rescuing/in trouble forums on here - I always want them all. If it wasn't for my husband, I'd probably end up a hoader.
Tammypat,

I am so sorry that you have to go through this. I hope that working together we can find the proper solution with you.

just read your post; we're in Michigan and looking for a young OES to add to our family. I've had OES since 1979, and my Abbey is 9 1/2, we'd like to find a playmate to keep her young. Do you know anyone traveling north? Abbey's Mom
Maybe it's too late to think of this but Samson's Mom (Tammi) in N. Carolina is coming to Sheepiepalooza this weekend and There are several members from Michigan coming (Butterstotch and Floofdog) maybe it's not too late for a hookup?.

Actually, I know Nita already has someone in Michigan that is also looking to adopt. I just did the home check yesterday.
Good Luck!! I hope things work out for you and your pup.
Sent you a pm :D
Wait, Not trying to start drama, is this the same dog that you posted about before? That was jumping the fence and tried to bite your husband?

Also, that you were keeping tied up outside and would not let him in your house?
So are you willing to let people help this time?

Those posts were quite harsh to us, way back then, I agree.

But Tammy has come back here, and there is an OES in need, so we are going to help.

Right folks? :high5:
That's why I said I wasn't trying to start anything. I was just wondering if it was the same dog as I have 2 kids to worry about and if the dog is a biter I just can't take that chance.

I completely understand... any new home has GOT to be right for both the dog and the family or you're setting the dog up to fail.
I knew everyone was going to look at my past posts and think bad. I was going to post as a guest, but felt like that would be deceiving. As you can tell I try to be honest no matter what people might think. I did have a lot of problems with him when I 1st got him, but like I said it's like he changed over night. He has snipped my children when they have been horse playing, But not to where they were badly hurt, never any wounds. I personally think that he thinks they are getting hurt and he's trying to protect them. Because he snips the one that is getting the best of the other. But I will also like to tell you that he does bark at strangers and will even growl sometimes. I believe that it might be a little hard for him to go to a stranger right away. I'm not going to lie and say that he is going to jump right in and be loving cause I don't believe he will. Yes he did bite my husband, I guess it was more like a snip because it didn't leave a mark. My husband was trying to get him back over the fence by picking him up. Also on one incident we took him to the park and as I was walking him on his leash a man stopped and try to pet him and Shaggy almost bite him. I believe he is more protective than what I've read about this breed. I do believe that he would attack if he thought his family was in danger. Besides what I have mention he is a really sweet and good dog. He sleeps by my bed every night and jumps on the door when I leave the house. So we have managed to bond and if I find him a home he will be greatly missed! It's just amazing reading the old post and reading what I just wrote. Well I guess this post and my older posts have probably scared everyone off. I just wanted to be honest.
Does anyone think this is a hoax? i REALLY hope MP doesn't REALLY have a sheepie. I think it is a need for negative attention!

A hoax? I don't know what makes you think that nor do I care! But if its negative attention I need then I guess I came to the right place. :lmt:
If you truly have a sheepie that has bitten or even has the jumping problems, if someone can get him to MO I will take him home and foster him for OESRSE. I have an excellent track record with those problem dogs.

PM me if you need my help.
Tammypat,

People are sending you messages and they are bouncing back to me.

 A simple solution to protect your dog from your neighbour would be to never leave your dog unattended in the backyard.
Your pup is still pretty young, in the right home with the right person I am sure all his issues can be worked out. I commend you for trying to find him a good home. I hope you can hook up with a sheepie rescue so that it works out for all concerned.
I'm still interested if you need someone to take him. Are you answering your pm's?
I believe I have found a home for Shaggy. If everything works out!
Oh, that's very good news :D
Thanks for the update.
The couple that was going to get Shaggy just informed me that they wont be able to pick him untill July 2nd. I need someone to adopt him sooner. So now I'm not too sure. Geez and it's not fair that he has to stay inside all the time. Poor thing keeps whinning at the back door. And my nerves can't take it no more making sure he doesn't run out the door every time its open.
If somehow you can get him to someone that's going to Sheepiepalooza this weekend, I will be able to take him now. I'm sure one of the Michigan girls can bring him for me. (at least I'm assuming they will).
I have no idea what Sheepiepalooza is. Where is located? Maybe I can bring him if it's not too far. I would like to meet his new owners in person just to see how he will react going with them and give them his akc papers and vet records. He took his last heartworm prevention this month. I haven't bought any more since I'm not able to keep him. Also his id number information needs to be changed to his new owners and I'm the only one that can do that. Does anyone know someone in South Carolina that wants to adopt? That might be easier.

Kayti, I know your heart is in the right place. Do you know why rescue groups do not normally place dogs in homes with young children? It is too risky.

Shaggy sounds like a dear, sweet boy. I am concerned that he may not have a really, really positive attitude around children. Even if he did, with the kids he knows, it might not be the same with kids he does NOT know.

And the barking at strangers, and the attempt to bite a man who tried to pat him....That worries me.

Tammy is being very honest, and that is very commendable of her. And it is important that you understand what she is saying, and how that translates to Shaggy's disposition. A fearful dog is not safe around kids...They will have friends over as they grow up, and Shaggy may not be the most welcome to them.

I am just trying to make sure that you know what you might be getting into.
I wasn't saying that I was going to keep him. From what I've read here about this dog it's probably not a dog I would want to keep, but I WOULD rather try to figure something out for him that have him either tied up outside all the time or kept inside all the time when he wants/needs to go out. If he was that bad with people/kids I would take him to my parents house until other arrangements could be made.

Bosley's mom-I'm sure your heart is in the right place too but no need to lecture. :D
I live in sc but I can't foster right now. If there's anything else I can do just let me know. I wish I had the room and time to take your pup, but I still have a pup that I haven't been able to find a home for. So I have my hands full already. I love both of my pups, but I wished I would of know how hard it was going to be taking care of them. I had a Pekingnese for years and when he was gone I decided to get an oes. I had seen the breed on dog shows and in books and thought how beautiful they were. Not knowing that it's a everyday chore keeping ther coat clean and groomed. With work and my kids its become alot to handle. I'm going to hang in there and keep trying. I just bought a house with a bigger yard with a privacy fence, so I'm hoping that will make it easier. Then they can go outside as much as they want. I would still like to find my girl a home, but the longer I'm with her the more attatch I get to her. Good luck finding your pup a home. :D
