Hair Loss

Oliver has started loosing hair, which I expected some hair loss. But, it does not come out in single strands, there are little tufts of hair that come out. I can not find any bald spots on him. Are the strands of hair just balling up as they come out? Is this normal?

How old is Oliver?

Also, is he neutered?
Is it shedding due to the onset of warm weather? This time of year my carpet is absolutely COVERED with Tasker hair. I vacuume it up every night and when I get home the next day there is a layer of hair over the entire floor.

Is he itching and scratching? If so it could be allergies.
Oliver is only 15 weeks old.

It is getting very warm, so in my rookie opinion he is shedding with the warm weather. He is scratching, so much that I looked to see if his skin was dry, or if he had some kind of bite on him and I didn't see either. I also noticed that he's been sneezing about 5-6 times a day. (I freaked out over that one, and the vet said it was nothing to worry to about.)

Does it still sound like allergies? Seems like a lot of sheepies have allergies. Should I go to the vet? I have a vet appointment next Monday for shots...or should I go sooner?

Thank you so much by the way!
Could he be playing and catching it on things? Yanking out a tuft or two? OES don't have a shedding season so you really shouldn't be seeing much of a change no matter what the weather is. If he's scratching, he could be pulling it out but it isn't natural for it to be just coming out on its own. It may not hurt to check with the vet to see if he is suffering from allergies.

Hmmmm, someone forgot to tell Tasker that. EVERY spring we go through losing of the winter hair like clock work and he isn't even outside that mcuh.
Oliver could be blowing puppy coat, any signs of a lighter grey imerging across the shoulders, up the back of the legs or top of the hocks?

Best to also have him checked by a vet to make sure it is not allergy related. If you are at all worried a blood test for a thyroid problem also as thyroid problems can lead to hair loss.

OES do not shed like other dogs, sometimes when they are changing coat, 2 stages there puppy to a junior coat and then junior to a fully mature coat, so at this time you might get extra hair/dust bunnies around or on the brush when you groom.

Tasker may have other health issues contributing to his hair loss, seasonal or not. A healthy oes really doesn't shed, no matter the time of year, especially not a puppy.
A pup that age isn't even really changing coat yet, so I'd guess he's itchy or catching it on something.
I thought he was way too young (15 weeks) to be having his adult coat come in, and we haven't had any mats (we brush daily for practice).

I'll ask the vet on Monday about the allergies and thyroid problems. Thanks guys! My vet already thinks I am a worry wort, I just don't want anything to be wrong with my puppy!

He won't be getting "adult" coat yet but he will start to gray. At that age, it's more color than texture.
Thanks ButtersStotch. I have seen some grey come in, but I thought maybe I'd just never noticed it before. Makes sense now.

No not adult coat but junior coat starting to imerge there, sounds like that is what is happening with him and why the extra hair around.

One of mine was completely light grey at 4 months old, there all different in age when they start to change from the puppy coat.

Another thing, what type of pin brush are you using? Some of them can be too hard on the coats and pull out more or snap the coat then a softer pin brush. Make sure the pin brush you are using does not have those little ball thingys on the end of the pins. There not suitable for grooming an oes coat.
