Fox

We had the vet come out Friday and put Fox down. (in my file, he's the one next to the red bow dog) He could no longer stand. He had been pooping in the house and each time he'd get up and go to the door in embarassment. Friday morning he couldn't get up after his accident. We called the vet who came to the house.

After the deed was done, the vet (who might weight 100 lbs) and her assistant loaded Fox onto the garden cart, took him to the back where Paul had dug a grave (prior to his surgery). No way I could have done that by myself!

That leaves us just one Pyr, Glacier, (the head shot in the file) and of course MO, Jack and Harry sheepies. Feels strange with only 4 dogs.

So all those sheepies at the Rainbow Bridge now have Fox, who preferred the sheepdogs over the other Pyrs.........but who kept up his Pyrness by partaking in the daily Pyr-bark session to keep away Boogie men.

I'm sorry for you're loss. It's so hard to let them go, but reminding ourselves that they're in perfect health and no longer suffering seems to help.

Susan, I am sorry about Fox. He was a very dignified looking man. I hope your heart stops hurting soon.
I'm sorry to hear about Fox. It sounds like he lived a fine, happy life with you and all the dogs. Making the decision when it's time to say the final goodbye is so painful, but it sounds like you did the right thing for him. May he play and bark with all the others at the bridge. :)
May Fox's memory be eternal.

Susan,

Im so sorry to hear about Fox.....my thoughts are with you.
Thank you all for letting me mention Fox here. He was a rescue, found in Taos, NM begging for food at a local grocery store. The rescue lady asked us to foster him.......well as often happens, the fosters become family.

A more loyal dog you could never find. We called him the Great American Crotch Hound for the way he greeted strangers....he'd head right between legs waiting for a neck and shoulder rub, he didn't like head rubs except from his family.

The remaining doggies are a bit somber, they know one of the pack is missing. I've noticed Glacier is also moving a bit more slow.......the last Pyr. She is also unknown age, but at least 8 and maybe more.

Thank you again,

susan
