Panda is sick....

Panda had diarreah the other night, I thought it was from the left over prime rib that i gave her...(she has a sensitive tummy for rich meat) anyway, yesterday she seemed a little lathargic and didnt eat her breakfast...kept her inside all day...brian and i ran some errands, came home fed her dinner, which she ate..then took her for a walk.she was all happy and racy during our walk...she didnt poop but i thought that since she didnt eat breakfast there was no cause for concern....

Well late last night brian went to use the computer in the guest bedroom and stepped into a poopie explosion... 8O

This morning, she didnt eat breakfast again AND she didnt eat her cookie...which frankly has me freaked out....she never turns down a cookie.....

I gave her a half of an immodium and scheduled a vet visit for wed am, but is there anything else besides chicken and rice that i should do for her????

Awww poor Panda!

Diarrhea alone is miserable but not too worrisome. Could just be that her tummy is still upset from the fatty meat. Or it could be a bug that requires antibiotics. If she starts to throw up, you should take her to the vet right away.

I start with rice water before moving to the chicken and rice. Ron has the rice water recipe here. Gives the tummy time to settle down.

In the meantime, lots of gentle neck rubs are in order . . .
Poor Panda!! Boiled rice and rice water for the first day, add boiled met the second or third. :(
My vet always tells us nothing but water for the first day, give the digestive system a chance to calm down.

Poor Panda! Give her a big hug for me. Sue
Poor Panda. I hope that little sweetie gets better soon. :plead:
Poor Panda Girl..  . Hope she feels better soon..

Murphy and Dud send her BIG kissess!!!
Don't worry too much. You're doing all the right things and I'm sure she'll be better in no time. I'd worry more about Brian stepping in poo again...
Yah as soon as Laika has upset tummy no food for a day. Best thing to do.
Poor little Panda girl!!  I hope she feels better soon.

Been there, done that - not fun. I agree with the rice water recommendation. Let us know how she does at the vet!
Poor Panda! I hope she gets better soon. and um....didn't Brian notice there was an odd SMELL in the room?
We just went thru that with Scarlet.....she had diahhrea in the family room and my carpet is ruined. I've cleaned it 5 times now and the stain keeps re-appearing...oh well its all good I wanted that carpet gone anyway
I gave her the rice water the first day and then rice and a tsp of canned food the next day.
Poooor Panda!

Barney is very sad that she's not feeling well. He says he would love to nurse her back to health.

It's so scary when you see them deviating from their usual eating patterns.

Give her a hug from me (and slurp from Barns).
Poor Panda! I hope she feels better soon. Poor Brian's foot. Ick.
Oh no. I hope she will be all right.
Poor Panda. Give her a big :ghug: & to get well soon.
Whenever George has an upset tummy I give him scrambled eggs!! He loves it and it mends his tummy quickly!!
Hope she feels better soon!

Ditto....
Poor Panda baby! I hope you feel better soon. little sheepie girl. Big sheepie hugs/ :ghug:
Poor Panda! :( Get well soon, sweetie! :hearts:
Hope Panda feels better soon. I have given Fred Gerber Rice Cereal for Infants, mixed with water when he has had the runs in the past. It helped a great deal to bind him a bit.

How is Panda tonight?

Hopefully you came home to a Panda who is feeling better and begging for cookies again :)

Or at least not leaving them all over the house for you in different forms. :(
At the last vet health seminar I went to, she recommended nothing but water until 24 hrs after diarrhea.
Ditto to that no food for 24 hours only fluid, it just helps the system not to be more aggrievated.

Hope panda girl is feeling better soon and hope brian got a good foot scrub  Poor Panda, yucko brian you have my sympathy also. :?

Hugs.
panda sounds like she is in good hands nothing worse then being sick
Aw, the poor girl :( . Is she any better today?
poor panda

Hope all goes well at the vet
I gave Panda rice/rice water last night...she ate it all...we went for a short walk. She didnt seem too into it...slept the night thru....this morning more rice/rice water and blocked off the better part of the house...the only places to poop are the kitchen rugs and the family room rug....hopefully there will be no poop at all....she did eat a cookie this morning...it was only after i gave it to her that i thought...''hmmm maybe i shouldnt have given it to her??!!"

ahh well, one little cookie cant be that bad.....btw her poop is about half and half....so at least its better than the alternative!
Yay Panda girl!! Good work Darcy!
:ghug: Poor girl. Keep us posted.
Hopefully you come home to a clean house and a well Panda!!!!
Panda is much better....her stools are back to normal and she is starting to act like her goofy self again...thank God!!

I didnt take her to the vet yesterday because all seemed normal...her temp was normal and her eating habits are back....i think she had a cold or something....but boy does it scare you when they start acting completely different from their usual selves!!

Thanks everyone!
Glad to hear she's back to normal!
Glad to hear Panda is feeling better :)
great news! :phew: :phew: :phew:
Yeah Panda! While Barney was supportive of her while she was sick, he gets grossed out easily and much prefers her being well...
:clappurple: :clappurple:
Phew!!!
I'm so glad. :D
Glad Princess Panda is better!!!!!!!
Good news Panda Girl. I am so happy to hear you are feeling better.
Phew!
Glad Panda is back to herself. It's so difficult
when they are sick. Good to know she is feeling better!
What is it with all these dogs with diarrhea lately? Stella has been shooting it out like a garden hose for two days.
Vet in the morning, but something tells me it's the medication she is on.
Glad Panda is better!
High 4 ( can't do 5 without a thumb) on a successful recovery from Ellie and Buff :high5:
Glad Panda is better and Mommy learned her little girl's tummy is just too sensitive for the treats. A mere snibble of prime rib will have to do instead of a real piece. The enjoyment will have to be in smelling, not tasting.

I agree with those who said no food, not even rice water, for 24 hours. The gut is just too irritated to handle anything.
I honestly didnt think...think being the key word here, that such a small amount would send her into such a downward spiral....and I just want to beat myself with a soft stick BECAUSE i knew that she didnt tolerate beef that well...chicken and cheese she seems to be fine with....but ahhh that beef...forget about it.......lol.....
Glad she is better!! Live and learn . . .

:D
Glad she is better! Diarrhea is never fun.
