Age for new puppy to come home

We are getting an OES puppy and cant wait!! It was born May 8 and the breeder had mentioned going home at 6 - 8 weeks. I know 8 weeks is the better option but due to my work schedule I was wondering what anyone thought about 7 weeks and 4 days otherwise I wait another week. I want to make sure I have sufficient time initially with the puppy, my husband will be home but I AM the mommy!! So whats anyone think???

My rec is wait until 9 weeks. There is no drawback for waiting the extra week. I think those extra days with his "pack" will be beneficial for him.

Also, I have found it doesn't matter who is around more often when they are pups, the puppy will decide for their own reasons who they will bond the closest with.

Good luck
(Can you wait for 12 weeks? :D )

Welcome to the forum!
If you have the choice, I'd wait until 9 weeks.
Would a CREDIBLE breeder send a puppy home at six weeks?

I think I would reconsider a breeder that would give away a pup at 6 weeks. I really think the longer, the better.
In a lot of states it is illegal to send a puppy home before 8 weeks- just something to think about!
This is the breeders 1st litter and she was talking to her vet about it. She is a wonderful person and a very conscientious breeder. We will probably wait the 8+ weeks but we lost our first OES in Feb of this year and I just miss the love and energy in the house.
I waited until 9 wks to get my boy. She said I could pick him up anytime after 8 wks. I could hardly wait that extra week, but it was for the best.
We picked up our new puppy Stella at just over 8 weeks. Winnifred was 10 weeks old when I brought her home.

Exactly. We lost our Winnifred (age 11) in January and despite swearing that there was no way we could get another sheep anytime soon... it was unbearable without one. We adopted Sadie,a 15 month old, in March and just got a OES puppy, Stella, last weekend. They are very very happy together. And we are very happy to have their "energy in the house" again.

Congrats on your new puppy!
I would wait the week, so the puppy can get the education in manners from momma and siblings. Our breeder wouldn't release Quincy until he was 12 weeks old, but we took Oscar at 10 weeks, as he was deaf, and really beating up his poor siblings! (He couldn't hear them yelp when he bit too hard. Our first Oscar sighting was him hanging off his poor sister's ear, having a great old time, while she was yelping to beat the band! 8O )

Congrats on your new puppy!

Laurie and Oscar
