Why do people have to work with others??

I swear, the people I work with are crazy. Every little thing that happens or changes is A BIG DEAL.

We'll be told something like "Per the president of the company, we are no longer allowed to end sentences with prepositions." Okay, no big deal, right? Apparently it is. When things like this happen, there are a million emails that have to go back and forth, discussing why this change is stupid or a good idea but going to cause us more work...then a person storms into my office running around with her head cut off...

And when I just calmly say something like "Okay, we'll have to be on the lookout for this" they all look at me like I'm dumb because I'm not screaming with them...

I do not miss the corporate world.

Everyone loves to over react and create drama of the smallest changes in policies. Sorry you have to deal with it. :(
I always wondered what all those people in cubicles in those big office buildings did........
But but...this is really something we should go crazy for!
I mean, come on, who do they think they are dealing with?
I must go crazy, tell me who I should go to and scream at?

:sidestep:

Ok...enough being bad. I actually totally agree with you.
UGH! I definitely feel for you! I find that being in the corporate world is like being in junior high all over again. If you don't join in on the complaining or backstabbing, you are the next victim! I typically seem to start jobs being in the "in" crowd. After a few months I'm on the fringes of society because I don't buy-into all the nonsense. UGH UGH UGH!

Are you kidding me??? Sounds like something out of the show The Office! LOL

What kind of business are you in that they frown on bad grammar? Maybe they should have a pre-test before they hire people.
  This is why I have chosen to work with animals...I would (in most cases) prefer they leave their owners in the car! :D :D

I am sooooooooooo glad I do not have to deal with that kind of nonsense anymore, I often wonder how those people will react during a REAL crisis in their lives? :lmt:
One of the reasons I have the most perfect job in the entire world is that I really have no "co-workers". I am a hospital employee leased to a clinic where I run my own program independent of anyone in the building. I come to work in the morning, go to my area and stay there for the rest of the day. I see my patients, do my work and go home. I speak to my boss by phone once a week and see her once a year.

The only interaction I have with clinic employees is to pick up my mail in the morning and notes to the supply person to order supplies. It is an idylic existance in which I can totally ignore the politics and insanity of the people around me.

I love my job
Yeah we go through that at my work a lot also. Some little thing you would think was the end of the world for some. At our last meeting that this happened at, it was something really minor and people were all up in arms, I said if this is all you have to get riled up over you life must be wonderful......... Sometimes people just drive me crazy. OK sorry I don't ranting for the morning.

Ha ha ha. You are SOOOOOOOOO funny.

Verve--I work for a direct marketing company. We work with colleges and universities to help them meet their admission goals, so we're speaking as the 'voice' of those colleges. So I get that we need to sound good, but my main point with that example was just the fact that my fellow proofreaders freaked out about it, instead of just saying, Okay...

As for The Office...yeah, there are definitely some similarly odd mandates that have happened around here (you can't use 'email' as a plural form (emails)...You have to say Did you get the email messages I sent you, not Did you get the emails I sent you? Things like that.
I feel for you, kid! God willing, my tenure with corporate America will come to an end at the end of 2008. Enough is enough!!
Thats why I like being the only female.....Princess status remains intact after 16 yrs!
Unfortunately, I work in a half cube, only one side to mine which is better than being boxed off !! There are plenty of people round here who like to run with the hounds - I deliberately don't get caught up in it, this job is a means to an end, I hate corporate stuff yuk yuk yuk. I work to pay my mortgage and keep my dogs in the lap of luxury, oh yeh I like shoes/bags too lol
