Matting

if my sheepie is matted on his chest and tummy, should i get him shaved down or try to get a grommer to get the mats out?

does anyone have any tricks to getting mats out? also how long does it take for a sheepie to grow a nice long coat after he is shaved?

thanks:)

I would recommend getting his chest/tummy shaved - and as long as there aren't too many mats on his body - keep that longer.

The mats on the chest/tummy are extremely difficult to get work out!

That's been my experience anyway!

Presley & Sydney both have their tummies shaved - and under their arms! And this past time - Presley needed a good portion of her chest shaved too (the weather really does a number on her coat).

Also for grooming tips you can use the forum search tool, there are lots of threads with great tips on solving specific as well as general matting and grooming problems.
