chicago sheepie puppy

I was reading the tribune today and saw an ad for an OES, male, 5mos old, for sale with crate.

This doesn't sound good to me. Anyone know anything about this, or anyone in chicago looking for a pup?

I instinctively know not to call, cuz I can't take another dog now.

I just have a bad feeling about this.

Poor baby... I wonder why they are giving him up? I would call, because I wouldn't be able to help myself, just to find out why, but like you, it's never a good idea to call unless you're prepared to take another pup! LOL I have ended up with many rescues that way! LOL
Perhaps if you are nearby you could look into it and help make sure he finds the right furever home?
Alot of Petstores and/or Mills (brokers) will advertise the puppies that they haven't been able to get rid of - they often will pretend to be a consumer who has one excuse or another for getting rid of the puppy (moving, allergies, etc, etc.). Beware!!!
Oh you're right Kristen, I hadn't thought of that...
Well.....

If anyone is brave enough, the number is 815-332-7172.

(I'm not brave at all!!)
Someone could call and let them know about RESCUE and try and encourage them to place the puppy through RESCUE instead - but that's probably a shot in the dark!

I would avoid calling just to see what's going on - because they may be looking to see what the "turnout" will be and if they are a mill and have a lot of calls - they'll be cueing up the production lines for OES puppies to meet the needs!
Should I call and find out? :( I woldn't be any good because I am in NY, but maybe i can get the scoop and see if they would place him in a rescue?
Just an Update

I called today and didn't get an answer... :(

I left a message with my number, but since it would be out of state long distance, I'm not sure they will call me back.

I will try to contact them again later... If anyone knows anything else, please let us know! :)
Just to update you:

The ad is no longer in the paper.

Sure hope the little guy got a good home.
Yes beware. I called one ad in the paper that was local and it turned out to be a pet store. One of our friends knew of it and said it was bad news.
I'm worried, because when we were looking a few months back we called a place in the 815 area code and went to see a female pup. We didn't have a good feeling about the woman selling her (she was haggling on the price and said she was selling for her friend from MO). We didn't takethe pup, though I would've like to gotten her out of there. Unfortunately, I don't think I saved the number. But I know the woman was in the Crete/Monee, IL area.
