Hell's Kitchen

I just checked their website, and it will be returning in June.

I'm very excited.

When I went to NY, we had dinner at Gordon Ramsey's at the London (Hotel).

Without question, it was the most marvelous meal I've ever had!

I can't wait for the show to start again

He has a show called The F Word. Does that mean what I think it means? 8O
Oh! I don't know! Probably! Is it also a cooking show?
Yes, another behind the scenes type show. I think it's shown on BBC America.
The 'official' line in the UK is that F stands for Food but knowing Gordon Ramsey.............!
IT'S COMING IN A FEW DAYS!!!!!!!!! MONDAY I THINK! :yay:

For those of you who don't know, when I was in NY in March, I ate his restaurant (Gordon Ramsey's at the London) and everything was perfect! He has every right to be an arrogant ass! I think, I worship him!
OK.

The first show was OK, I guess. How can you throw so many people into the deep end and expect anything but chaos?

There are people who just aren't qualified at all to be in this competition, but I guess they feel that makes for good TV?

I think I like the guy who apparently is not affected by Chef's yelling, and smiles it off. It would be cool if he has the talent to back up his confidence.

Wake me up when most of the worthless ones are gone.
For reality tv watchers, it's a known that the first 1-2 episodes aren't that good/exciting, so keep that in mind Ron! Of course if it continues to just be OK... then we can hop there's something else on. ;)

I've never seen Hell's Kitchen but will eagerly give it a go this season.
I, personally, loved it! Ramsey really cracks me up! (Gnat piss?????)

On the first 2 season, the first several "dinners" were total busts too.
Yeah, I agree.. thought last night's episode was so funny. That Asian guy was giving me a headache. Just LEAVE already. That guy is going to have a heart attack on the show.
I like Julia (girl w/no experience).

I couldn't believe that chick really thought food out of the trash was okay while competing, while on tv... jeez!!
I know...what a jerk! I would NEVER take anything out of the garbage and try and serve it. What the heck was she thinking?

Julia is wonderful. I think the other girls are just snobs. Julia was the only one who could pull them together.

Kudos to Ramsey for putting Julia back in line!!!!!!! :clappurple:
I wish melissa left because she is so cocky.

Jen (I think?) gets on my nerves even though she is sweet. ...just the way she speaks in general (all whiny) and the way her lips move along with how she closes her eyes a lot when arguing a point.

This episode was slow, in general. I miss trying to guess when that Asian guy would pass out next.
Ha ha! Poor Aaron!

I really think Melissa is nuts. No, really. She doesn't seem stable to me, and her take on herself is not realistic. When she started shouting that she didn't want to show the food...what the heck was that? And why in the world, would she have put the duck back in the oven once is was perfect? I can't ever remember her taking the lead with the team, and getting it right.

I can't believe Ramsey would let her cook with that filthy, dirty raggy hair flying all over the place. And that "thing" on her chin. She grosses me out. Oh...and those crazy eyes!

Jen is not exceptional. I don't know why Ramsey doesn't see that. I think Julia does a far superior job to Jen.

I was disappointed Melissa wasn't sent home.
I was thinking they may have done it because they kicked off two people the episode the Asian was sick? Of course, there's ratings too!

I was also wondering why Melissa's hair was EVERYWHERE.
Thank goodness Melissa and her hair is GONE!!!!! :D
Oh I know! I feel badly for Julia. I really like her, but I think she is going to get squeezed out.

I think Gordon is too "scripted" this year. He doesn't seem as spontainous.

I still think its fun!
I was worried about Rock when he had his crazy spell.

How do you screw up mashed potatoes?

As I said the other week, Jen seems like a good girl ...someone you can depend on and trust, but she sure is goofy to me. She strikes me as a girl who hasn't been exposed to the world much. I was grossed out watching her chew with her mouth open at the photo shoot. She's still the best out of all the girls though, it seems.
Yep...I don't really like Jen, but I, too, think she is the best of the women.

Its funny, Tony and I both commented on her chewing!

Really??? When I type that, I was positive you guys would think I was nuts b/c I was the only one who noticed. I don't mean to bash the girl, but I always think if I had her as a roommate, she would drive me nuts.
She wouldn't drive me nuts, cuz I'd shoot her first! She's way too whiney!
Well.... I totally forgot this was on!!! For some reason, all I saw on my tvguide was age of love. I missed everything up to the last meal they made, saw who went up for eliminations, but never saw who got booted. I was thinking the blonde girl???
Brad got booted off last night....Bonnie for some reason got another chance. Next week the teams join together to form one team....should be interesting to see how they work together!
Thanks.

I saw Jen get made fun of because she walks funny
I didn't see it last night, but dvr'd it.

Hmmm...Brad is gone, and Bonnie is still there, eh?

Can't wait to see what led up to that!
** Spoilers if you didn't see last night's episode (this line is for JoJo ;) ) **

Rock or Julia... Rock or Julia....

I'm thinking Rock.

I'm also thinking that I would hire Julia and either stick her in as a sous chef in a fine restaurant and give her a chance to learn, or send her to a culinary arts school, or both.

I think she demonstrates a lot of great qualities and instinct she just needs some book learning and a little experience with a more upscale menu.

I didn't like the way Rock exploded -- I know chefs are "temperamental" but this was over the top. It was especially over the top when he did it at the photo shoot. He should have played that with good humor, and taken the break from dumpster diving as just that, a break. A tantrum like that could "bring down" a whole kitchen, perhaps ruin it for a while. Then again, look at the host of the show.

As a note, as the men were coming back from paintball, I said to Joan that "I would have grabbed a box or two on my way in. This may be a competition, but they're still on the same team." I liked to see the two boys get lambasted for not helping in the kitchen, but it extends beyond that, and their lack of common courtesy demonstrated that to me.

Jen's a worker, not a leader. Bonnie is too Bonnie. The other guy is no good.

So if I gotta choose one, it's gotta be Rock.
I've seen Jen be a leader in the kitchen, but overall, think you are right.

She lets people walk on her and would give a worker TOOO many chances before feeling she had no choice but to fire them. She's a little mouse.
I also don't appreciate the way they are cutting this show, trying to make things seem a lot more than what they are.

They were trying to make it look like everyone ordered the red menu, when the tickets were actually 52 to 48 (unless they stopped allowing red orders after 52). I don't like all the artificial suspense and other audience-manipulative things that is all the rage in these reality and game shows nowadays.
I didn't see last night's show, yet, but from what I've seen, I like Julia and Rock the best.

Julia will be fabulous one day, but lacks experience to run a fine-dining restaurant. BUT...I really, really like her.

Jen is way too whiny.

And Ron put it best,

Bonnie is too Bonnie.
Jen is extremely whiny. She was really annoying last night.
Bonnie's excuses crack me up - I've got a great palate and lots of creativity, I just need more experience with "execution". LOL! Girl, if you can't cook, what are you doing in this competition?
And Josh can't cook either.
I'd love to see Julia win, but I'm betting on Rock.
I finally watched it. What is with all the facial contortions Jen makes? Its like she has a rubber face!

I think Josh should have gone, or Bonnie, not Brad.

Hey! Who knew Chef would be so good at paintballing?!

And...I was really happy Julia's steak was such a big hit!
I'd like to see Julia win, if only because the other girls always look down on her  . She has saved the red team several times, I loved that she fought for steak on the red menu and it was the most popular dish :)
RON CALLED IT IN HIS LAST POST!!! I Couldn't believe it, but am so happy!!! What a nice thing for the chef to do for Julia! Gave me a feel good feeling.

IMO, she NEVER deserved to win because of the lack of experience. Hard work can only get you so far, but I would root for until the end if she came back after going to culinary school.

Everyone knows I don't like Jen the mouse. However, I felt horrible when Rock just tore down on her. I would hate to be an employee of his. It was ridiculous when he chewed into the blonde just because she said "Go ahead and try ironing it on the table"
I thought Chef was a total gentleman. He showed a warmth you rarely see in him. And...I think Julia agreed with his assessment. I really wish her luck, and hope to see her back.

Bonnie and Jen are both soooooooo on my nerves. I'm not crazy about Rock, but I think he is the best of the bunch.
Julia may not have deserved to win because of her lack of fine dining experience - but at least she could cook! She can design dishes that are edible and get the food out the door. The three that are left can't do that consistently. It was really great that Chef Ramsey recognized Julia's talent and offered to give her the opportunity for culinary school.
Another real plus for Julia, was that she instinctively knows what people will like!

The others just seem to want to "wow" without regard to good taste.
Although I really wanted her to WIN just to show the other competitors, I am happy this happened this way. Now it is up to her! Once she is exposed to the world of fine dining and the ingredients and some of the science behind it, I *hope* that she will develop an imagination.

If you don't know and recognize the possibilities of the ingredients you just can't innovate.

I hope she can afford to take a couple of years to go to school... if not, maybe she can work out some sort of an apprenticeship deal with Chef Ramsey or the producers. Maybe she needs an agent with an imagination to help her negotiate this.

this was my concern as well
Bonnie in the finals??? HUH????????????????????????????????

(I must have missed something, since this makes no sense at all!)

8O
I agree. I've been assuming that Bonnie would be sent home for the past few weeks. Chef Ramsey must see something in her that doesn't come through after editing.
I thought it had a lot to do with leadership and being able to take charge. Was still shocked though. Did anyone's mouth open when he was announcing who would get booted and he said "Rock..............."
I started watching last night, and turned it off. To me, having Bonnie as a finalist, is like putting lipstick on a pig.
I can't believe you did that. Part one of last night was really good to me!! I was way more interested than my other show I watch in this time slot!!
I was surprised that so many chefs picked fired chicken...

Rock seemed like he went through a phase of demoralization -- Bonnie fed right into it. He lost all of his self confidence for a time in the dorm, and of course they showed moments of indecision during his re-decorating time. I hate trying to guess whether something is really happening or if they are just editing it that way for fun, or editing it that way as a distraction.

Casual restaurant? Blue Jeans? Fried Chicken? I thought Julia went home!?! What is he thinking?
I liked how Rock managed his team in this last competition. Good ending.
Yep....

But it seems to me in past years, the chefs were much more talented and had more personality.

This year...none of the chefs really stood out.

I'm very glad the winner was the winner. Of all of them, that person deserved it the most.

Congrats!
This season, it seems that they chose people solely for the melt-down potential. Geez, I could cook better than some of the people in the final 8. Consistently burning a crabcake? Over cooking, then undercooking, the prawns? It's not rocket science. I'm glad Rock won, because he has the right culinary experience to run a restaurant plus he has a cute family to support. I hope he makes the most of his year at GVR.
they made josh look so bad (he made himself look bad). i sure as heck wouldn't want to go to his restaurant after this show.
