House

Ok, I know House has come up on the forum before, but always in another thread.... so hopefully I haven't lost my mind and am not just being repetitive. LOL
I have been watching House since it first aired, and loved it from the start.
I don't watch TV much, just House and Gilmore Girls on Tuesdays and CSI and ER on Thursdays.
Since the pups went home I've felt a little lost LOL I suddenly did NOT have a million things to do and no time to do them, so I started watching House. Every episode, all 3 seasons. I was addicted before, but I am officially addicted now. Maybe obsessed. LOL

What fascinates me is that Hugh Laurie has been successful for so long, and yet I never noticed him before. In Stuart Little movies I thought of those characters as nothing more than filler, but I think Hugh Laurie has found the perfect outlet for his outstanding acting ability with House.

Who else watches House? Have any of you watched it in order and follow the underlying thread plots (relationships, development of characters etc)?
The tv shows' website always has a poll going each week, I don't think they actually do anything with the results, but I think they're fun.
The current poll is asking about House's invitation to Cuddy, the options for answers are "It's the start of a good couple" , "He was only jealous that Wilson got attention from Cuddy" , or "He should be with Cameron anyway"
I answered they would be a good couple. Lots of chemistry there.
The problem with relationships coming to fruition on a tv series like that is they can't turn back, where do they go from there?

I watched faithfully seasons 1 and 2. Then it started getting really goofy (to me.)

I had enjoyed it, but now I don't find anything on there credible.

Hugh Laurie is extremely talented. I just can't "buy" the stories

What do you mean? Have you ever watched a soap or any other series with couples in love? There are endless possibilities to ruin or continue a relationship after they have gotten together, married, or even had children. The TV show FRIENDS showed this as well.

The other night was so good. I want mr. J to watch with me, and I think that would have been a good episode to pull him in. He may not get here by the time the next one airs, and I'm not sure just 1 episode (he's only here for 2 weeks) can make him a fan unless it's super!
It's one of those shows I LOVE TO HATE! I watch it EVERY week and TVO what I miss. Then I complain about what an A$$ he is

Did you ever notice that the Dr's on House DO IT ALL??????? It amazes me, one minute they are doing a Cardiac Cath and the very next Brain Surgery. Real life just isn't like that!!! But then, this is HOUSE we are talking about not real life
I love House. We never miss it either. Thanks to Jil (floofdog), we got hooked because she lent us the first season. Hugh Laurie is such an excellent actor but I have a really hard time believing him with his real accent because he is only "House" to me now!
I only saw House for the first time in reruns a couple months
ago, and I love it. I found it by accident.
It's so refreshing when an actor finds a role like this that makes
you rethink his past roles.
I wish I could watch the series from the beginning !

Shellie
Last night was a repeat. It was the one about the 15 year old model, and her manager father.

It was excellent! Even though the story was "out there", it has the chance of being possible.

I think that is what is the newer ones are missing. That credibility.

I think I heard tonight, someone is leaving
New episodes are always Tuesday night... I'm guessing you missed last weeks? Foreman quit.
I love House. Sure it's not "real life" - any doctor that acted like House would have lost his license in season 1. But I love the dialogue and plot lines.

House and Cuddy? I don't see it. I think he's just trying to stop Wilson from getting into yet another disastrous relationship.

Whenever they have scenes of Chase and Cameron making out in some laundry closet or empty exam room it makes me laugh, because now they're engaged in real life too. And as for Foreman quitting, remember that Cameron quit once too. I'm sure House will talk him into staying.
I absolutely see House/Cuddy! :) The chemistry is great, especially in the episode "Airborne" It was awesome.

I'm glad the Chase/Cameron thing is over with, even though they are actually engaged in RL I didn't see any chemistry between them at all. LOL

Re Foreman quitting, I would normally think "nah he'll be back" however there have been rumours of him leaving for a while....
I read an interview where Omar Epps (Foreman) said that his master plan was to get back to doing movies. He didn't state if he was leaving or not but with that said I bet he is.
I've read in various interviews that things are getting a shake up for the next 2 episodes, tonights and the season finale next week.
I'm not sure what's true and what isn't but what I'm seeing is that only Hugh Laurie's contract is officially renewed so far? His for another 2 years, anyone elses is up in the air.

Some *spoiler* preview stuff is indicating all 3 "ducklings" might hand in resignations, but I actually think it's just to keep us all guessing til next year.

Hugh Laurie is now filming a movie called Night Watch, a remake of The Night Watchmen? Should be interesting.
Yeah, I think somehow, someway Foreman comes back. At least I have my fingers crossed. I like him! I was screaming at the tv when he said he was leaving.

I got Mr. J hooked, I think. We watched it every time it came on, and let's say ...there were a lot of reruns (even came on friday).
The show I "LOVE TO HATE:

House gets four new punching bags next season
I can't wait!
I can't wait either. Just hope it's as good as the other seasons. Season 2 was actually my favorite so far.
cool, I was getting sick of the whiners anyway!!!

We can ALWAYS count on you Mrs J!!!!

Thanks, I didn't have a CLUE who they were!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool, thanks for the link... honestly I don't care who is in the show as long as Hugh Laurie still is
So new news has come out about the new puppets that basically indicates 2 will be there for the entire season and two will just be there for a series of episodes.
I read something very interesting over the weekend. Y'all may know this already.

House's character is based on Sherlock Holmes! His home address (which I can't remember) is the same as Sherlock's, both are eccentrically brilliant, and both are drug addicted.

Just thought that was interesting.
I LOVE House!! I agree that a lot of the stories are not believable, especially the processes they go through to reach their final diagnoses, but Hugh is SO entertaining that I keep watching anyway. I love how much of a jerk he is, because he is funny, and usually true. I actually like people who get to the point and don't sugar coat a whole lot. Plus he's handsome, too (in a rugged sort of way).

I read that too. Interesting!

I wrote earlier that I thought he was attractive too b/c of his personality on the show, but I want to take those words back. I no longer find him attractive, though love his character. Plus, he strikes me as terrible in bed. Wham, Bam, Thank You.. Ma'am seems more accurate.

HA HA HA!!!!! I've never found him attractive. Plus, his "beard" would really scratch!!!!!!!
Hmm you do have a point... sometimes the not sugar coating and getting to the point thing might really be bad (particularly in bed).

Maybe he's not as cute as I thought he was, lol.

When they showed his apartment number in one episode I just roared. Husband turned to me with ????? "Elementary" I said. He still didn't get it. So I had to explain. I thought the guitar was a bit of a stretch....he really needs to own a violin..
I think Hugh Laurie is sexy... I mean I think he's omg knock me over sexy... but only in character as House LOL
STARTS THIS WEEK!!! :yay:
Put me on the "I can't wait for House to begin" list too!!!

I have always loved medical shows, but this one is so far over the top...I am LMAO by his remarks on the show....I also can't believe how he can remove his British accent....(personally, I really love shows from England...My favorite was Dr. Who...a very very long time ago on PBS...The original Dr. Who....Tom Baker (?) )
My husband just found out the other night that Hugh Laurie has an accent.
He was on Jay Leno and hubby was like, "OMG! He's British!!!"
I said yeah, "I know." His comment, "Why didn't you tell me? I am so shocked!!"
He said the British Accent doesn't fit.
Yeah!!!!! Its the show I love to hate!!!!!

(Or is it the show I hate to love ? :? )

Anyhoo....I'm pretty excited!
I thought it was going kinda slow, but then that ending brought me right back in! Good season starter. I can't wait until next week.

For next week's episode, do you think his visions of his old puppets are just them coming back for other jobs in the hospital?
I had class last night so had to TVO it but I'll watch TONIGHT!!
I think they are coming back. Remember, Cuddy offered Foreman his own team if he stayed? I bet they are the "new" team.
I couldn't bring myself to watch last night. I suspect the 3 will be back but maybe one or more will have their own department and consult & argue with House while we may see a new face or two in the team.

I agree, the show I hate to watch or watch to hate or something in between. Hubby was out of town so TV never turned on.
I read that they come back to the hospital, but not back to him. Who knows, the whining was getting on my tv nerve. I love to watch Laurie, he so funny.
I missed the 1 st show, so what happened? I'll be watching tonite. I do hope the others come back.
Ok...here it is in a nut shell:

House doesn't have a team. Cutty and the other doc are pushing him to get one. He insists he doesn't need one.

Has a patient he can't figure out. Torments her husband. Her husband torments the patient's mother.

House consults with the janitor.

Everyone pushes him to get a team more. His guitar gets kidnapped. Patient dies...and turns out its not who he thought it was.

Decides yep, he needs a team...fade to black.
She died? I thought she didn't? They were just caring/waiting on the wrong chick, which I heard was based on a true incident.
Nope, she didn't die the OTHER pt who they thought was their pt died originally. Mistaken identity pt lived.
Ok..ok...I got confused!!!!! That happens. Heck, it was a week ago! But, I got the rest right, didn't I ?

Yes, I remember when the real incident happened.
The "true" story was when a bus/van of college students crashed in Indiana...right?
Yep...and it involved two blonde friends.

It really was heartbreaking.
Ughh... I can't stand that blonde chick. House leaves you wanting more. She leaves me looking for a kitchen knife.
I am with you on this.
That was a good episode.

edit: posted before I actually saw the last few minutes. Great ending.
More than anything...I was heartbroken about the dog. He reminded me of my Keira.

So...Foreman got canned! Hmmmm............................
Ok...I watched last night. I won't watch it again.

I think its really gotten stupid. No well educated person applying for a job would put up with House's sh*t.

Its gotten just plain silly.

Bye House
:sidestep:
Glad Foreman jumped right back on.....

I did think last night's episode was bizarre and far-fetched, but I just love it!!!! You won't stay away too long!

I like all the potential storylines developing.
Last night's episode was fun, though far fetched....I'm bummed that the old dude is gone....he was my favorite. :( I like the dark haired guy who was so enthusiastic about grave robbing too.
I really liked the old guy too. I still hate the blonde wanna-be House.
If he chooses CTB them I might have to stop watching. 13 has been quiet so far, but I would choose her over CTB.

I liked the old guy. I was hoping he could stick around. :(
I was shocked when both girls were fired last night but smiled when I saw the ending. :)
I missed the ending!!!! What happened?
He fired both girls and kept the guys. Went into Cuddy's office and she said he couldn't have all males but of course House insisted those were his choices. So she was forced to allow 3 people, which was part of House's plan all along by picking just the males. So he kept #13 ...not devil blonde.
AAAAAAAHHHHHAAAAAAAAA.....ok
Wow, well that last episode was shocking. I read it was because he got a job on Obama's administration.
I never saw that one coming! Oh my goodness!! What a shocker!! 8O
Yeah I was surprised too.... I still love this show though...
