Have to Give My Dog Away (Connecticut)

Unfortunately, I have to find a new home for my beloved sheepdog, Blue. I've had him for 6 years (he's probably between 7-8 yrs old), but now that my mom is moving to a condo, it doesn't look like Blue has a place to stay anymore. He's a beautiful dog and well-behaved. I don't want to have to bring him to the Humane Society or a pounf or something like that. I would love to see him in a new home. I live in Connecticut. Does anyone have any ideas of where I can bring him or know anyone who'd love to take in an Old English Sheepdog.

I have some pics of him if anyone is interested, but I couldn't figure out how to post them

Thanks for your help

I'm so sorry that you're going through this. I'm sure this is heart wrenching for you.

The GREAT news is that you're right in the neighborhood of the biggest OES rescue in the world, New England Old English Sheepdog Rescue, Inc., and right down the street from me (I'm in central Mass).

Have you called Grannie Annie at 781-259-8173 or email at grannie.annie@neoesr.org ??

Their website is at www.neoesr.org

You can email the photos to me (Webmaster@oes.org) if you don't want to join the forum.
I'm very sorry that you've got to find a new home for your sheepie. As Ron mentioned, NEOESR is a great place to contact if you need this kind of help. They have successfully placed hundreds of Old English Sheepdogs in forever homes. We adopted a sheepie from Grannie Annie in 2005 and it was a very good experience. We received support AFTER the adoption which is so very important because it helps to ensure the placement is good for both the dog and the family. You can review their online application to see the kinds of questions they ask perspective adopters... http://www.neoesr.org/adoptionform/

Good luck to you.
I'm so sorry you must part with your fried :( Grannie Annie will be a WONDERFUL help to you both.
I'm sorry you have to part with your sheepie. I'm sure you will find an excellent home for him.

Rescues are extremely helpful because they have a lot of experience in finding the best match for a longterm solution. You can also list him on petfinder. Sometimes when you are trying to place an older dog it requires a little more patience and effort.

Also if you register people can privately communicate with you.
If you still have Blue I'd love to adopt him! I live in Kansas (I hear you can ship a dog out of state--I'd pay!) and have a large house with 1 1/2 acres for him to live in! PLEASE!!!!! I'd love to see the pictures. Do you need my address or what?
Hi Jerilyn,

Welcome to the forum!

*Lots* of dogs become available through rescue programs over the course of the year. Have you contacted your local rescues and/or NEOESR?
