One month without smoking

I'm bragging. One month--4 weeks--without a cigarette. I did mooch one over the weekend but didn't smoke it. I just wanted it in my possession. I left it in my car and threw it out a few hours later when I determined I didn't want it plus it was stale.

At least when I go for my check-up next week I can tell the doctor I don't smoke. :D

GO PAULA!!!
Paula, sweetie...I've been thinking about you. Right now, I think its more important for you to quit smoking than to lose weight.

Don't try to do both at once. You are NOT fat!!!

The benefits you will receive from not smoking far outweight the benefits from losing weight.

And in time...you will be able to concentrate on the poundage you want to lose.

I'm always here for you, as are you niece Keira and your nephew, Pirate
!
Way to go Paula. I am going to start Chantix tomorrow. It is suppose to kill the cravings. I am so proud of you Paula. Wish me luck.
That is wonderful, Paula!!

I read something that a nonsmoker would have to be 300lbs overweight (not just 300 lbs) to do the same damage to the body that smoking does!
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay:
Way to go Paula! :clappurple:

Wynette, darlin'!

You'll have to keep us all updated on your progress.

For those of you who don't know, I quit smoking 3 years ago. AND! I'm still on Nicorette gum! My Doc said, that was just fine, since the nicotine in the gum is very low and not cancer causing.

So! I'm for any help you can get to help you kick this nasty habit...nope, make it, this nasty addiction!
Great job Paula!!! :)
Wynette, feel free to PM me if you want to rant, rave or discuss. The Chantix makes me a little sick to my stomach for an hor after taking it. Definitely eat something before. I take it after breakfast and dinner and eat 2 saltines immediately after taking it. The instructions say continue smoking for a week while taking the pill, but I smoked for 2 weeks because I felt no different. I set a Monday as my quit date and Sunday night at 9pm I smoked the remaining cig (perfect planning). Monday morning, got up, had absolutely no desire to smoke.

And I lost 1.8 pounds this week.
Paula! You're jammin' girl!!!!

Way to goooooooooooooooo!!!!

My patients tell me Chantix is a WONDER drug, I've been seeing LOTS AND LOTS of success with it!
Congratulations!

:cheer: :cheer: GO PAULA, GO PAULA, GO PAULA!!!!!! :cheer: :cheer:

A friend of mine, who is certified by the American Council on Exercise, asked me two questions. The first - "If you smoke, what is the SINGLE, MOST IMPORTANT THING you can do for your health?" The answer, as you guessed, "Stop smoking.". The second - "As a non-smoker, what is the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING you can do for your health?" Eat healthy? Nope. Exercise? Nope. The answer - Don't start smoking. Scary, huh?

I echo Deborah's sentiments. So Paula, if diet and exercise have to go on the back burner for a bit while you focus on this VERY IMPORTANT GOAL, then understand that you are doing the best thing for yourself by giving up the cigarettes. The rest can come later.

Congrats and best of luck to you!

Laurie and Oscar
WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's awesome!!!!
