Hot spots + adoption= Help

hello,

i need your major advice. last week i adopted a 15 month male OES.
he is wonderful! we love him so much. he came from a loving but broken home which he shared with a female OES named clarabell, whom he loved (the owners keep her).

when we picked him up from his former owners he had a large hot spot on his side near the ribs. we were/are giving him allergy meds (beny) and using the hot spot spray on it at night. it is healing slowly.

the bad news... today as i was brushing him, a huge clump of hair came out on his bottom back to reveal what i think to be another huge bald hot spot.

what should i do? i'm afraid if i do nothing he will go bald. also his former owners took him to the vet 2 weeks prior to us taking him, and said that it was just a hot spot.

i'm scared...

thanks,
erin

I would take him to your own vet and have them check for ringworm? It could be just the stress he is under, if it is not ringworm or anything medical, maybe try Bach's Rescue Remedy, a few drops in his water every day to ease his anxieties until he adjusts? He may be very happy with the loving home you've provided him with and he may not seem stressed, but everyone, animals and people, expresses anxiety differently. He may miss his canine companion as well.... do you have other dogs? If not, and once you make sure he has no medical condidtions perhaps think about adopting another four legged companion?
hi,

just got back from the vet. she said he was allergic to flea bites..?...anyway,
she gave me a powerful allergy med and flea medication.
