UK Sheepie Day!

I was wondering if the members from the UK (and anywhere else who would like to join us) would like to have a sheepie Day here over the summer? :)

It would be fantastic to meet everyone and let the dogs all see each other!

It's only an idea at the moment but if for now people just say yes they would be interested we can find a venue and take it from there!!

Imagine loads of sheepies in one place it would be great! Mayhem but great!!

Let me know!!

Count me in!!!!! OOOOhhhhh a sheepie day lovely!!!!! :)
Wish I was over there!!!
Me too!!!! I'm so far from everyone.....you guys should check out the Frappr map and see where everyone is from.

It's a sticky at the top of the page. Shows members from all over the world and where they are located on the map. Hmmm not there...anyone know where it went to or the url? Not using my own computer at the moment.

Good luck with your sheepie fest!

Marianne and the boys
I probably have too much time or I am nut. I went on google map to find out how long it takes to go to UK. I think it is very doable, except for step no. 23. 8O

Perhaps you want to take a look too...

Go to google

Go to map

Go to direction

Enter New york, New York to London UK

Check out step no. 23

Gigi
Oooohhhhh Yes Please! That would be great! Count us in!

Karen and Daisy

Just checked out point 23 on the google map! Glad I don't have to get here from New York - I'm not that good a swimmer!
Stick with it and you'll be surprised. I had a similar crazy idea about 6 months ago and with Judi help, support and encouragement Sheepiepalooza was born. It wouldn't have happened without her. Good luck; you will be surprised how many will come.
Hahaha It takes you to Long Wharf in Boston first.

I guess Google doesn't take into account the Gulf Stream.

Much better to swim right from New York as the Gulf Stream is going to carry you North to Iceland anyway. :sidestep:
Sounds like fun Vicki, it would have to be indoors...our Brit summers can be a bit unpredictable, imagin the mud bath...now if we could hire a couple of marquees and have a bit of a picnic, Buckingham Palace would be fantastic
8O What about animal quarantine regulations? The only reason I haven't moved back to the UK is that my companions would be locked up for 6 months.
Count me in !!!!!!

How does the quartine work in the US - for Europe the dogs can now have a series of jabs, takes about 4-5 months, but they aren't locked up. Then as soon as they get the all clear, they are free to travel.

I'm sure we could speak to HRH and she would be ok about it

She likes dogs! Though I don't know about lots of sheepies running about in the gardens!!
leave it with me Liz is a close personal friend - I'm sure the Corgies and Sheepies will have lots of fun lol !!
I only live about 9 miles from Sandringham. Maybe she'll let us have it there?

Karen and Daisy
Hey...this thing's got legs
OK. I've made a map that shows all of us that expressed an interest in the UK sheepie day and plotted where we all live! (Great geography lesson!) I'll try to post it but if it doesn't work you can see it in my picures anyway. Maybe we need to decide whereabouts would be most central or does anyone have an idea of a good place to aim for?

Image

Not sure if that will work when I refreash as all I can see is the link but here goes.....
Brill.......lets all go to Kims'
It's going to be a small sheepie day!

Where's all the British Sheepies?? Come Sheepies bite your owners on the bum and tell them to bring you to the sheepie day!!!
I love your map. When your location says UK, or some of the towns, I had NO idea where you are! :D 8O
Brill what a cool map.... Ok lets try and meet find the right place for us all OOOOhhhhhh im so excited a sheepie day!!!
Sounds like a great idea! Archie and I would love to come along and meet everyone. Are there any more thoughts on location? We are in The Scottish Borders (Peebles) but can travel.
Susan and Archie
The most central point would be the Midlands (lucky Kim) ? Kim, what about the water park where you take Maizie & Hattie ? Just a suggestion, anyone else got any ? I think from where I am to the Midlands is around 2 hours. Soooooooo exciting !
The Midlands would be fine for me and Ted....about two hours also
We can make the Midlands too. When you suggested a water park Kayla I keep imagining Sheepies going round a lazy river ride in a rubber ring but I guess you didn't mean that kind of water park??? Would make for great pictures though!
ha ha !!! yeh, they can all wear their arm bands and a rubber ring round their middles !!!
Ok i will put details on about the Waterpark for you to look at see what you think!!! The only thing there is it does get busy at weekends. I will have a look at some other places too... We need somewhere thats not too busy so the dogs can play. And if its a raining somewhere to go with them.. Yeah theres my house but 8 SHEEPIES AND JACK OOHHHH its not big enough lol lol lol .... ha ha ha!!!!! :)
Ok hes the link just have look see what you think!

http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/Web/corp ... A300597F3F

Sutton Park

http://www.birminghamuk.com/suttonpark.htm
Looks great Kim
Daisy and I think all those places look great!

I've tried to revise the map I did to include Susan in Scotland but I can't find the program I used to edit it and can't seem to do it now! We know you want to join in so consider yourself 'on the map'!

Any ideas on when would be a good time to try to make this happen?
Ok Girls!!!!!

Ive been looking at kingsbury waterpark for our sheepie meet.. There are small venues for function held in the old barn coffee shop restaurant which do meals... But the dogs wouldn't be alllow in there while we eat. So if you didn't mind they would have to stay in the car for a while. But if the weather was fine we could eat outside and the dogs would be able to stay with us... Or the other option would be for me to get a couple of gazebos and barbeque. Just a thought!!!!! And!!!! If people could make it a day in the week the waterpark would be excellent as the weekends get very very busy... mmm im really trying to sort this out for us :)
ok here's the link for the old barn
hey sounds like a great idea, count me in :D cant wait, a mess of sheepies just great x
That sounds perfect. I would be able to do mid week no probs. A herd of playing sheepies......... :D
That sounds great!!

It would depend on when it was if we could come mid week but I'm sure we could work something out!!

Can't wait!
After a discussion on the chat tonight we are looking to have the UK sheepie day on Monday 4th June! :D Yipeeeee! :cheer: :cheer:

Hope to see you there....
June 4th is OK with us. Ooohhhhh How exciting! Just looked again at the link for the waterpark and it says that Barbeques are not allowed any more after 1st May 2007 but we're happy to get something from the restaurant or....if the weather's good maybe we could all take a picnic? Daisy is very excited about the idea!!
OK, finally managed to update the map but there's still not many of us! Although I guess when they all get together it might seem like a lot!

Hope that worked??
Theres enough of us to get started!! Who Knows others might still join us now we have a date!!

The map is brilliant!!

Can't wait!
Brill... Map Karen :)
Monday 4th of june... Will the children be on hoilday still then...

Cos if they are it will be busy at the waterpark!!! oohhh no room for sheepie. lol
i think the kids got back to school that day

we will already be sunning ourselves in florida

we would have loved to have come i do hope you all have a really good day

love

zoe and einy
I've just checked on the Staffordshire County Council website and the kids go back to school on June 4th after the Whitsun break. Same here in Norfolk too so I assume our huddle of sheepies will be safe! (what's a good collective name for a herd of sheepies! - maybe I should start a new thread.....)

Sooooo looking forward to this!
Oh my gosh!

How did I miss this? We would definately love to come & meet you guys & all the sheepies, we're not owners (I mean not owned!) just yet, but this would be a great chance to meet everyone.

We're down in Kent but would drive for a day out meeting sheepies :)

Cassie & Greg

OOHHH is that all 11 days wooooo hooooo!!!!!
11 days....and counting! I think I can look forward to it now as Daisy is so much better today - fingers crossed!

Am I right in thinking we plan to meet at around 11am? Should we all aim for the Old Barn Coffee shop as a meeting point or is there somewhere better Kim?

I'm so excited!
Yes if we say 11ish... I will be there around 10 to 10.30 ish As you come into the Waterpark there is a Barrier its £3.00 to get in for all day!!
After the barrier there's a little mini island, go right and then left into the big car park. You will see the Events field as you come in on yr right thats where we will be right at the back... You will see us!!! just look for SHEEPIES!!!! LOL LOL LOL

There are two entrances to the Waterpark the One you need is The Main Entrance & Visitor Centre the other one will be where Kayla is camping thats Broomey Croft entrance. (Kayla when you come out of that entrance you need to turn left and you will see the main entrance a bit further down)

Hope this helps... Ive never done anythink like this before woooo hoooo im so excited to see you all!!!!!!:)

Hey all, nearly missed this one.......
I'm hoping to try and make it as well. I can't wait to see Gatsby having fun with other sheepies. Heres hoping they all have as much energy as he does.

So what's the count up to now for people joining the 1st UK Sheepie Day?
We aren't sure!!

We think there are about 12 people coming but we aren't sure if people will come who haven't posted or if everyone will come!

It should be a good day and we are all praying for good weather!!

Looking forward to meeting you there!
I'm comming so is Mr Lindy (Rob) and of course Teddy Eddy 8)
I'm coming!!
We are coming! I think we will be the only ones without a sheepie though.

We're so excited about meeting you guys & all the sheepies!! :yay:

Cassie & Greg.
We are coming too (fingers crossed Daisy is well enough) We've booked the same hotel as Vicki and George for the night before too!

I guess I'll be first to post the dancing Nanas today!

Ha Ha!
Quote:

.
No, I'm coming without a sheepie aswell cause my Ellie just died a month ago and I still havent found another sheepie! So you will be not on your own alone without a sheepie!!

Loads of Sheepie hugs :ghug:
Oh so sorry Monica. Are you getting another? PM me and I know a lovely litter
Hi Lindy,

I'm on a Rescue waiting list but pm you with details!! I definitly want another one, I feel very very lonely since Ellie left!
Kim has asked that I do a post to advise everyone of what we may need for Sheepie Day!!

Obviously appropriate cloting knowing the weather we could need sunscreen or wellies!!

We will also need seats or blankets to sit on as there are benches but they are apart from each other!!

I think the people who are coming so far are: Me, Kim, Karen, Kayla, Lindy, Cassie, Monika, Michelle, Nicola plus partners and dogs!! Sorry if I have missed anyone, just post to let us know!!!

Well I think thats it apart from

Can't wait for sheepie day!! :yay:
Don't forget the picnic!!!!!!!!!!! :yay:
I bring some german pasta salad and a picnic table to clap out where 4 people can sit! :ghug:

Maybe I get another table and some more chairs in the car!! :hearts: :go: :yay: :cheer:
I'm so sorry to hear about Ellie. It's great you are looking for another sheepie now, I'm sure uksheepie day will cheer you up a treat- do you think you will get a puppy if you don't get a rescue?
Are we having a picnic or going to the Old Barn????

If we are having a picnic can we bring tons of extra food as George will be there pinching it all!!

And don't foget cameras so we can post lots of pictures!!!!
We probably won't be taking a picnic as we are staying over in a hotel the night before and any food we bring wouldn't be too good after an overnight stay! We will get something at the old barn I guess but we could bring it over to wherever we make a base if everyone else is having a picnic??

I'm charging the camera ready - don't worry!!

Very Excited!!
OH!! I can't wait to see pictures of your sheepie day. :D
Karen, don't worry I will make extra sandwiches....What do you like???
Lindy you are really kind thank you but don't worry we can just get something from the coffee shop - we will no doubt have had a cooked breakfast at the hotel so probably won't want a lot anyway. We will be fine but thank you so much for offering.

I'll be too excited to eat anyway! All those sheepies to cuddle! Can't wait!

Hopefully all the rain we've got today will mean it will be nice weather next week??

I'm still not sure what I will do, I am waiting for the rescue but can get frustrated cause I dont know how long it takes to get a Sheepie on the other hand I also think sometimes having a puppy would be nice cause I never had one! Both of my Sheepies were rescued. I will see!! :D

The Sheepie day will def cheer me up, I cant wait for it!!! :yay:

Monika

PS:Do we have a picnic now? Just wonder if I shall bring some food and some chairs or are we going in the barn??? :?: :lmt:
You guys will have a blast, just reading your posts cracks me up

REMEMBER THE FORUM RULES:

LOTS OF PICTURES!!!!
It would be nice to see a picture of all the uprights with user names so we know who you are :)
Yes lots of pictures, that is important, cameras people don't forget them.

I'll let someone else do the bananas :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
I have good news!!!!!

I have checked the long range weather forecast and so far there is only a 10% chance of rain on Monday so hopefully we will get good weather!!! :yay:

This time next week it will be the 1st UK Sheepie Day!!! :rimshot: :excited:

We will still need to bring chairs etc as there is nowhere to sit all together!!

Well I guess that all for today.................... Apart from.........

That's great news. It is so cold and horrible today I recon it will definately get better by next week. 8)
Guess I have to do my sun dance for you guys too!!!! :go: Can't wait for the pictures!!!
Not more long til 1. UK Sheepie day!!
6 days to go!!

I would like to change the dancing nanas to dancing suns to help us get goodweather but we don't have any!!!!

So here are the nanas!!!
I hope you guys have good weather and enjoy the get together of all the sheepies as we did in St. Louis; they were a wonderful bunch and it's worth the travel just to see them all play together and interact. And the 2 legged comraderie is wonderful.

George
Thank you George!!

The pictures from your weekend are wonderful and i hope our day goes as good as yours did!

We currently have non stop rain so heres hoping that it runs out by next week!! lol

Whatever the weather it will be great just to get together!!!
Hey all, can someone do me a favor and let me know if anything changes from Friday onwards - I’m going to my parents who's internet access is out at the moment so will not be able to check.

We're just deciding whether we should try and make it home for Dog training on Monday night. I can see him just sleeping and dreaming about playing with other sheepies and not paying much attention to the training
forgot to say we have an travel agility jump which I could bring with me if anyone if interested....let me know and i'll pop it in the car.
I think the jump would be a great idea! Not sure if Daisy will be up to jumping much as it will only be 12 days after surgery but I'm sure the others will enjoy it!

I think it will have to be a national emergency for us to cancel the day at this stage so I think you'll be safe. Can you access your PM's if we do need to contact you or would you rather PM me with your mobile number and I'll contact you if there are any changes?

Anyway - looking forward to seeing you next Monday!!
None of you forget to bring your camera's!! We are all counting on a lot more pics from across the pond :D
I just hope Ollie behaves himself what with all the laydeeeees about 8O
Ted is at a stage where he likes laydeeeeeees and boyyyyyys 8O !!!!!
Yeh Lindy, I should of mentioned, Ollie bats both ways right now - poor Mr Jack
I don't think little George should come to this if Ollie and Ted are going to corrupt him, he has enough bad habits without learning any more from a gang of older sheepies!!! lol

Don't know if I should start another thread but seeing as a few of us are doing picnics for sheepie day........Whats's your favorite sandwich filling???

My newest favorite is...
Hoummus (chick pea paste with garlick)
Tuna (in brine,healthy)
Salad leaves (hot Rockett and spinach)
Grated carrot (sweet and crunchie)
A small squeeze of lo cal mayo
a light powdering of ground cumin
All wrapped up in a flour tortilla

Fantastic
very nice Lindy... mine is:

rare roast beef, rocket, & horseradish, in white, freshly made, slightly warm baguette ..... I'm not at all picky lol followed by fresh French coffee and a Danish pastry mmmmmmm
I'm hungry :(
mmm yeh me too, nearly lunchtime, just had my coffee, might pop off for a Danish on the way home to walk the bubas and its flippin raining
Bad news on the weather!!

there are going to be showers on Monday!!!

Sun dances everyone please!!
ohhhhhhh!!!!!! sun sun we need sun !!!!! I got soaked at lunchtime walking the dogs, but hey worth it.

Didn't have any rare roast beef and funny enough no fresh baguettes lol so I ended up with Marmite & cheese on granary bread - yum !
only scattered showers on Monday so keep doing the sun dances they seem to be working!
I've heard it will be sunny on sunday so I hope it stays til monday! But English weather can change any minute?!

As you all know my Ellie just died recently and tomorrow I will get a 2yr old bitch from the rescue and her name is "Charlie", I think! I'm very very exited and I actually can bring on monday my new Sheepie with me! :cheer:

I will get her tomorrow afternoon and I cant wait for her!! :hearts: :clappurple:

Not more long til sheepie day!!

PS: I like everything without mushrooms or olives!!
Monica, that is great news, we can't wait to meet her.xxx :hearts:
How great Monika, to get a new friend and going partying with her.
Ollie & Mr Jack can't wait to meet Charlie
Daisy is looking forward to meeting her too! I'm so pleased for you Monika, I know how much you wanted another sheepie in your home, a home's not a home without a sheepie in it!

See you on Monday!
Thats great news Monika :cheer:

An extra special sheepie for the first Uk Sheepie day!!!!

Hope all you guys over there have a great and happy time and remember PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES please

Yeaaay!! That was quick! Lots of pics of Charlie please! :clappurple:
I was looking at your map of where everyone is located. Kayla is not that far from my (this is Joe, Wyn's husband) parents home in Upper Hartfield.
hi all steve dougal and I can't wait. My daughter kirsten is coming to. See everyone soon.
I am doing my sun for sheepie day dance here in maryland for you !! It is 90 here today so I am pushing sunshine your way.... :go: hopefully it will be there in time for your outing!!!
You guys have a LOT to live up to...I expect LOTS and LOTS of pictures and commentary...
I left some pictures of Charlie at the Rescue forum or you can also have a look under my photos!

She's cute, cant wait for monday!

We want nice weather for our Sheepie day!! :ghug:  :clappurple:
Ted's gona love her...me too
Charlie is so beautiful!!!! Sheepie hugs to her. Congradulations you are going to have so much fun with her.
Wynette - Hartfield is about 130 miles east of where I live or 2.5 hours drive - small world eh.

ooooh I love Charlie, can't wait to meet her, Ollie says woof woof !!!
I'm going to be first with the dancing Nanas today Vicki - too excited to wait by far! Daisy got the 'all clear' at the vets yesterday so there's no stopping us now!

Roll on Monday and here's hoping the rain stays away!

Monika - Charlie looks like one of the family already - looking forward to meeting her!
Who cares about the rain - the good news is that Daisy is well - yey !!!!!!!! you must be so relieved !! xx
Just a little bit (ha ha!) The vet said in the nicest possible way that he doesn't want to see us again for a very long time! My sentiments exactly! She's eating everything I put in front of her and is woofing at the postman again like nothing ever happened! What a relief!
Oh yeah Daisy is well!! :hearts: :clappurple: Congratultions!! :go:

And it should be rain on sunday but nice (19C) on monday!!! :yay:

Countdown til Sheepieday
Ted is having a bath on Sunday :D Great news about Daisy. No such thing as the bad weather just the wrong clothing, I recon it will be sunny like today....hope so
Anyone coming from the north? Just wonder if I should go out on junct. 9 on M42 or better on Junct. 10 Tamworth? Cause I found from Tamworth there is on the junct. roundabout a road towards "Freasley" (Trinity Road) and then goes directly to Kingsbury, which sounds easier as the way written on the AA Route.

I also seen 3 Carparks on the map, is the main one next to the Campsite?? (Broomey Croft Children's Farm?)

Charlie is settling in very well and she/we cant wait for monday! It's very hard to make any pictures of her cause she's constantly!!! moving and jumping about! :excited: :yay: :excited:

2 days til UK Sheepie day!!!
We are travelling from the north east and are following the RAC directions!!! Thankfully we are leaving on Sunday so might make to the waterpark on time for the sheepie day!!!

See you Monday!!!
Don't know where you all are today - No new messages?? Guess you're all bathing your sheepies in readiness for tomorrow!! I've bathed Daisy - all the packing is done and we're now going to leave for the hotel. Should take about 2-3 hours so see Vicki there (and maybe Kim and Kayla?) tonight and everyone else at the waterpark tomorrow.

We are VERY excited!!

Only one thing left to say......

See you all tomorrow!
Hooraaaay!!! It's tomorrow!!! Hope the weather stays good. OOOOHHHHH we just cant wait!!!

:yay: :cheer:
I'm getting ready for tomorrow aswell, cant bath Charlie cause she still settle's in but try to give her a brush if she lets me ha ha! :excited:

Weather is brilliant since 2 days and weatherforcast is fab! 20/23 C and NO rain!!!

Need loads of water for the dogs!!!

Will leave early in morning, so at 8.30/9.00 to be there right in time in case I dont find it ups! :clappurple:

1 day til Sheepie Day!!! :cheer: :yay:  :clappurple: :excited:
Looks like our journey will be 3 hours if the traffic is good, got to tackle the M25 though which could be a nightmare.

Could somebody please PM me their mobile number (and take mine) so I have a contact in case we can't find you guys?
