Computer help please!!!!!

:!:
Anyone who has even the slightest clue as to computers and specifically networking, please help!
I have been tryin all night to set up another computer on my network. It is my old computer and I'm setting it up in my daughters room. It is running win98se, its only a pentium 2 with a wee 3 gig hard drive, and only 64 meg of ram because I put the rest in my other puter... lol...
It runs great, fairly fast considering, and is recognized by the network and will run icq, lol, but nothing else internet related. Email doesnt work, explorer doesn';t work, well they work, they just keep giving me dns errors. ALL of that stuff worked fine untill I ran windows updates. Then, it broke. LOL
I uninstalled the windows updates and it still didnt work. I though this may have been because when the updates installed it said something about replacing files etc and I said no so it may have deleted needed files when I uninstalled the updates. So, I reinstalled win98se. Still didn't fix it. All the internet connection stuff is fine, the router knows its there, the other computers know its there and it knows the other puters are there. And, as I said ICQ messenger is working. Not msn messenger, or yahoo, or explorer or outlook express. I have tried running ipconfig and it won't run. I downloaded updates and service packs to another puter and sent them through to the broken one, installed them, etc.... blah blah blah.... but the thing still won't work!!!! Please? Anyone??? Ron??? :!:

by the way my icq is 155631975 if anyone has it!
Willowsprite, how are you connecting to a network, and how is the network setup, i.e. is it through a router, 10/100 hub or something else. Let me know and i will try to help, it could be something simple.
Router, and all the connections are fine. I can ping all of them and they're fine... it's an explorer problem I think, since it happened after I install updates. I re installed win98 twice though and it didn't fix it...
any help would be great!
I KNOW WHAT IT IS.... maybe.....

In IE, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN settings and set them the same way that they're set on all the other machines (that are working).

Outlook uses the same settings by default.

When you said: Explorer problem for some reason it set that off in my head. I hope it works.... let us know!
I checked and they are all the same Ron.... thank you though, please keep thinking! :)
