I know Sunshine, sort of. Their plant is on the same side street as the plant for my motorhome manufacturer in Red Bay, Alabama. I've weighed my motorhome (for free) on Sunshine's giant scale at their plant.

Red Bay, Alabama is so far removed from "civilization"... yet they import their products from China and the ship finished goods out. I've always wondered about that.
I was reading the other post http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=12930 and some of the members had food they thought was safe due to the date on the can but apparently the dates they were using were extended. So anything manufactured by Menu foods and on that list between Nov 8 and March 6 has now been recalled.

The dog biscuits recall is bothering me now and I am wondering just how far is this going to go.
Anyone been able to get on Sunshine Mills' web site to get more information on the supermarket brands they package for?

This is an alarming one, since inexpensive biscits are so often handed out to dogs at bank drive-throughs, coffee kiosks, etc...
Thanks! Mine had been getting a store brand that has no manufacturer listed... but I just read the ingredients which do not appear to include gluten.

The girls are mouthing off... not happy that I've got their treats and NOT SHARING!
Hey it Hoffma - I'm at work and need to be quick but will be checking back on this post - Monty has been eating the Ol' Roy treats for the past two years.

I am going to PetSmart at lunch to pick up some new treats. Any ideas on what kind to get? I know there will be a ton to choose from. Again, all he's had is the Ol' Roy so I am a tad clueless on what else to get.

Any help is appreciated. Monty seems to be fine and showing no signs of being sick. I have 6 bags of those frickin things at home :? . I'm so mad about it.

Thanks again!!
maybe try non pet food treats? baby carrots and things like that are the only thing I feel 100% about right now :(

somebody posted somewhere else about making sweet potato treats...I might try making those for Izzie this weekend.

Otherwise just check the ingredients and avoid anything with Wheat Gluten...that is the problem ingredient, right?

I buy the veggie cookies at Petcetera...they are wheat-free. But mostly my pooches get snacks like cheese, veggies and fruit that we eat.

What these 2 will do for a piece of lettuce is unbelieveable. 8O

That's funny. If they know that you would eat it dogs seem to always think it is the greatest treat ever

Our old sheepie Izzy (boy) was sitting by me when I was eating chips and salsa once. I offered him a chip and he refused it 8O puzzled I pretended to dip it in the salsa...he scarfed it right down.
Hoffma again -

They eat lettuce? Maybe I will have to try that. Monty is a garbage can I'm sure he will love it. I never thought about veggies and cheese. I guess I always thought that "people food" was not for dogs, but now thinking about it, if it's good for you then it's probably good for them?

I am going to scope out Petsmart. I'll let you know how that goes. I still can't get over all these recalls. Just awful!

So where is this potato recipe?
Taskers mom posted this...

I make dehydrated sweet potatoes, the boys LOVE them. Just slice them and put them on a cookie sheet @300 till they reach the proper texture. I don't have a food dehydrator. The thicker you slice them the longer it takes.

Izzie loves baby carrots...there are a few people foods dogs can't have, but most vegies and things are safe.
There are so many dog biscuit treats. Many of them don't have wheat gluten in them. We have several boxes of IAMS biscuits. They've always been a favorite and I like the sizes they come in. They do not have wheat gluten in them.

Mine love veggies too but know lettuce has 0 flavor to them, so leave it on the floor. Amazing since they'd eat practically anything. I take that back. They will not eat drive thru biscuits. they hate cheap biscuits.
Breena loves Old Mother Hubbard and Wellness treats. They are wheat free and all natural. She also loves frozen peanut butter and cream cheese in a kong.

Shhhhhhh....Don't tell my crew.

Maybe the dried, soggy, brown or thick pieces that I normally would throw out have more taste!

I must get a video of them eating a salad. They both love tomatoes and cukes, too.
I love videos!
Those canadian sheepies are such health nuts...american sheepies would say "salad? is it drowned in ranch dressing? bacon bits on top?"

Aint that the truth!! Panda wouldnt touch a piece of lettuce, carrot, tomato or a cucumber if her life depended on it...now crutons on the other hand are a different story!! :D
Hoffma again -

This post is cracking me up!! Thank you for the suggestions. I will be off to the store soon. I can't wait to make the sweet potato crisps. I will be baking those Saturday so Monty can have a special treat after he gets shaved (finally 8O ).
It may be time to make SPC's. It's been awhile in my house!!
The easiest and bestest treats we give? His regular mealtime kibble! He can't get enough of it!

It's the Wellness Super 5 Mix Lamb and he absolutely loves the stuff.

I keep a baggie of it in my jacket pocket.

(They also make little sample bags of it!!)

BTW I think I heard that Menu Fodds makes some of the Wellness TREATS, so be careful that they contain no wheat gluten.
I checked the site and Wellness and Old mother hubbard ( same co) treats don't contain any wheat gluten. They have a big tag on the page that says they don't use it in the product.
