Your Favorite Type of Pizza (toppings)

If you could describe your favorite pizza, what would it have on it?

Tonight I tried a new recipe a family member sent with homemade pizza crust which was easy to make topped with pear and gorgonzola. I would have never thought to put that on pizza!

It was fab-u-lous, but it had me thinking, if you could have a pizza any way you want, what would be on it?

So my perfect pizza has:

cream sauce (alfredo/ranch)
cheese (mozz/prov mix)
tomato
artichoke hearts
mushrooms
onion
italian seasoning

Of course I'm assuming it's being made by a place who knows how to make it right!

I love hawaiian - with canadian bacon, pineapple and -- mandarin oranges! (they are great, add a bit of a sweet zip)

Another pizza?

There aren't many pizzas I don't like.
Cheese is good.
Extra cheese is really good.
Pepperoni is excellent.
Kitchen sink is good.
Meat lovers is eeeeexcellent.
Big is great. :D
Small is bad.

Eggplant was interesting... mainly because I think they deep fried the eggplant, but I'm not sure.

Onion is goooood.

Hawaiian is not for me. Pineapple? I mean, don't get me wrong, I like Pizza, and I like pineapple, but together? OK, if there was no other pizza, or if I had a choice between say, a burger and a Hawaiian pizza... Depends on the burger. I might go with the pizza! :D

Thick crust pan pizza is good.
Thin and crunchy crust is good.
Deep dish is not pizza; but it's still good. :D
(Joan used to be a supplier to Pizzeria Uno, I've had a LOT of their pizzas.)

So to answer your question, Meat lovers with onion. :D
Yumm Uno's- I love their mushroom pizza. Hmm wonder if they are still open?
There was an UNO's in D.C. that we LOVED going to. I agree that pizza from there is doing pizza right!

What the heck is kitchen sink?

I agree that small is bad. I get depressed if I have to share. My husband is always careful about how much he eats because he knows I will bite his fingers. I always eat more than him.

EGGPLANT is good stuff, but I'm not sure if I've had it in pizza yet!!! Have seen it in menus but haven't convinced Mr. J to get it with me!

I like lots of onions, but I do not like lots of cheese like you Ron. Most places put plenty on. As long as it covers the dough... I'm good.

Something is wrong with their pizza. It's edible, but there's something about it keeping it from being really good. They would be last on my list for a deep dish, Chicago style pizza. We have a couple of places local to Michigan that blow them away in terms of a deep dish pizza-- and there are a million in Chicago that put them to shame. Must be marketing that got them where they are!

I worked with pizza for 10 years and it's a rare day I have a regular pizza and say "Wow, that was good." Too many years of making it exactly how I like it ruined me. I like a very strong pizza sauce, with lots of olive oil and spices. Not too much cheese, sometimes I even prefer it without if I can get a pesto type sauce. I like mushrooms, broccoli, pineapple, artichokes and eggplant for toppings if I have the option, with the broccoli and eggplant being lightly stir fried before being put on the pizza.

Lol. I won't even start on my dough specifications-- I get the feeling that this should have been like a one or two word answer and look what I've done already!
would that word be......"picky"?
CHEEEEESE! :cow:
Pizza is not one of my favourite foods.

The best pizza I ever had was in New Jersey, it was Broccoli Cheese pizza...no tomato sauce and it was 3 different cheeses. That was about 20 years ago, no other pizza has ever come close to tasting as good, other than if I make it myself.

And yes I am Very PICKY!
Pizza would be one of my last choices for a meal.(oh and I don't like fast food burgers either)....see I said I was PICKY! :sidestep:
The Vasco de Gama--

Green and red peppers, onion, chorico, tomato sauce
oregano and double cheese. :D
hmmm .... the perfect pizza????

well, it would be a ''doughy'' crust...lots of sauce, minimal cheese, onions, mushrooms and anchovies on the side...so you can dip the crust into the oil :hearts:
I like the thin crust pizza, minimal sauce, and pile on the toppings, sausage, hamburger meat, mushrooms, onions, pepperoni, peppers, and lots, and lots of cheese.
Perfect pizza:
Whole wheat crust
No sauce
Tons of sauteed mushrooms, onions, red and green pepper
Banana peppers
Freshly grated asiago and some fresh mozzarella
Hot red pepper flakes
MMmmmmm!
just plain I love pepperoni pizza

when I feel like putting some effort into it this is great

enchilada sauce instead of pizza sauce
chorizo and onion sauteed then put on top
cheddar and/or monterey jack cheese
bake until bubbly
on top you add a salsa made of avocado, tomato, onion, cilatro, lime juice and salt....great summer pizza...mmm
Kind of boring, but we really like spinach, ground beef and easy cheese from a local place called Nino's. We go through long stretches of time where we get it every Friday night. Now that Lent is over, we'll start up again. I'm drooling just thinking about it!
Any kind of crust. Red sauce, Lots of cheese, mushrooms, black olives, onions, artichoke hearts, bell peppers, tomatoes.

I really like gourmet pizzas with olive oil or pesto sauce and cheese and tomatoes, spinach and kalamato olives.

And, I really like almost any kind of pizza but prefer it without meat!

YUM YUM YUM.
Bottom would be made from foccia bread with plenty of rosemary,

A dab of red sauce with:

mushrooms
onion
green pepper
feta cheese
I had to retrieve this pizza thread. It's all I think about. I go to sleep dreaming about when I can have pizza again. I feel like that little caesar guy: PIZZA PIZZA

Can't decide if I want a large thin crust pepperoni and onion

or

large deep dish combination

Not craving my normal toppings. Friday is my cheat day, so just 2 more days. Yum, yum.

I feel so much better now that I've talked about it.
I make my own, but toppings are sauce, I use diced tomatoes. garlic, onions, mushrooms / half hot pepper on one side sweet for me on other, mushrooms, LOTS of anchovies and cheesee, I also put black olives and artichoks.
I would say very little cheese, if any, and LOTS of veggies. OR, I like feta and artichoke and spinach, tomato slices...mmmm

Oh, and none of that deep dish stuff. That's not pizza!
HOW IS IT NOT PIZZA?

That's like saying for many people that your pizza with the untraditional feta and artichokes is not a pizza (btw, that is my favorite, but unless it's something you can order from pizza hut/dominos, some would say it wasn't what they call a "pizza") Pfft!
I should not have read this thread, now I'm hungry. My favorite pizza would have a deep dish crust like pizza huts, alfredo sauce, cheese, spinach, chicken, mushrooms, and banana peppers. I would be happy with any crust though, as long as its not tough. Hubby and son like hawaiian, but I just can't do the sweetness. Something tells me a trip to the commissary is in store soon..........
hey jo....are your cravings crazy enough to try anchovies yet????????????
:) To me, deep dish pizza is more of a casserole or something than an actual pizza. I think of pizza as a thinish (doesn't have to be super thin, I actually like the thickness of pizza hut) dough with toppings on it. :)
No :? ...but due to you mentioning it awhile back, I am craving some filet mignon from bennihanna's! I've only tasted it one time (one bite of my husbands). I normally hate any sort of steak (red meat).

I DO agree on that. I don't like those deep dishes that feel/taste like a casserole. Another reason why I normally (when not pregnant) don't like my pizza crowded with toppings. Takes away from the pizza for me.
Being from the Chicago area I love it all 8) Deep dish, thick crust, stuffed, thin or super thin and crispy.....mmmmmmm :D :D We have the best pizza places to cover every desire :D
I like chicken and sweetcorn with onions and peppers.

My hubby has tuna, peperoni, with a fried egg in the middle :?

your husband's pizza sounds disgusting! 8)
If you get a "REAL" NY style pizza there is no need for any topping beside cheese. MMMMM NY PIZZA! :P

My favorite toppings though are normally:
Pepperoni, onions and mushrooms and black olives.
I LOVE anchovies, but nobody ever wants them, so I rarely get it.

My all time favorite Pizza was from a place in Upstate NY. They had a Greek Pizza. It had fried eggplant, sundried tomatoes, mediterannian olives and feta cheese, plus the normal pizza sauce and cheese.
I lived on that stuff during my pregnancy with Ryan.

There is also a place in Paterson NJ that makes very thin crusted pizza. Their garbage pie is do die for!!! So is their cheesecake and calamari.
E, Ill meet you somewhere in between so we can have an anchovie and onion pizza....... :D

MMMMMm, go to Pizza Port--hot guys and good pizza! (not in O-side, but in Solana Beach)
Mmm, hot guys and pizza! Sounds good to me!
