First contact with breeders
I have a shortlist of breeders in the UK who I would like to contact regarding buying a puppy. They are all registered & have websites so I have been able to do a little research on them. I would like to contact them now to find out when puppies will be available as I am looking to buy later this year, probably nearer september/december. Is it too early to enquire? What questions should I be asking? Should I provide details about myself & my lifestyle now? Should I wait until nearer the time or are they likely to have a waiting list? Sorry for so many questions! Any help would be good!! Cassandra. |

| It wouldn't hurt to go ahead and contact them.
Some breeders do have waiting list. Are you going to be showing you puppy? It would be nice to have a "Sticky" in this section. |
| Hi cassandra, contact them all now and give details of what you are after, dog or bitch, Pet or show things like that.
Yes give them your details and lifestyle too and ask when is the next litter planned, as you are searching for a breeder now for a pup towards the end of the year. So to be on a waiting list for later on in the year then with breeders there in the UK. It also means that doing this now a breeder has approved you to have a pup from them and you also have approved a breeder you are happy to have a pup from. So that is out of the way then 
Ask them if there breeding stock has been health checked, that is, hips graded and eye certifications done. Read through this forum, there is lots of help there to aid you in asking good questions to a breeder and working out which breeder suits you too.
