Chumley the sprinter

In the past almost 20 months that I've had Chumley, I could count the number of times she has run on one hand. It just was not something she would do, which I attributed to many things -- older age, arthritis, overweight, etc.

Now, about 2 months post-surgery, she is running all the time. It is flabbergasting. She runs to the door, runs across the yard, runs to greet people. There is a huge bounce in her step and smile on her face. She is eager to go on walks and she prances the whole way. She can go about 20 minutes now without getting overly tired. People who see her cannot believe she is the same dog who struggled to get up and would fall over all the time. I've been trying to catch it on film but she is too fast!

Absolutely amazing. What a miracle story!! :ghug:
And she is sleeping better too! She sleeps deeply and peacefully. I am so happy for her!

Chummie is the most inspiring dog! I am so happy for her. What a joy for you to see her run.

:sidestep:
I :hearts: Chummie.
Thanks everyone!! I am so surprised because it truly did not occur to me that her improvement would be this dramatic. I expected her to show less pain but not so much new energy.
That's such wonderful news :)
Yay Chum!! :)

Now how are YOU doing?
Amazing especially so soon after her therapy, she never ceases to amaze me, enthusiastic, smiling, just awesome is Chum. Now this wow, there is no stopping this girl now, go chum go woo hoo. :D

Now how is mom doing too? You have to try and keep up with the chum chum speedster now.

Has your therapy started?
Run Chummie Run! :sidestep:
I am actually doing pretty great. I had my first rehab and it was very encouraging. The therapist explained that all the various sensations I have been having are normal and expected. The therapist was impressed with my range of motion and relative lack of pain. She says that given my condition at this point, she expects me to make a full recovery. But she says it will take 6-9 months of rehab to get there. Luckily the crutches phase should be over in just a couple weeks. . .
Then you will be Abel to use a Cain?
Here is a happy picture from our walk today:

And I did manage to catch a snippet of her moving. She is trotting over to greet a dog -- something she had been extremely reluctant to do previously, I think out of fear of being hurt. She is a whole new dog. :hearts:
WOW! :o
If I didn't know any better, I wouldn't believe thats the same dog we've been reading about and seeing these past months!
Seriously...incredible! :D
Wow indeed! She looks amazing! :yay:

Go Chummie Go!!!!!!! :hearts: :hearts:
Absolutely incredible! I didn't realize she's only been with you for 20 months. I thought it was much longer than that.
Honestly, I really think you should write a book about this. So many owners would be encouraged by her progress and your faithfulness. It would be a great asset to the dog world.

It will be 2 years in July. . . She basically had one good, relatively healthy year and then she fell apart. Now she is in better shape than when I first got her. :sidestep:
