| Thanks Marley, I'm not much of a neat freak because my house is tooooo small. No place for anything!! But I should know in about 9 day if i get the house that i want. the wait is killing me. |
| Hi Marley,
I saw that too from our catalog, my husband and I both liked it. We usually buy several bags of dog and cat food and cat litter at once, so I am trying to figure out the best way to store everything. I have big rubbermaid storage buckets stacked and it works ok, but I like things as simple as they can be. Yes, I am a neat freak too. I have cleaning down to an art now, and my kids are learning from me and seem to keep thier rooms clean on their own. How many more year until I train my husband? LOL Maybe I should crate train him to find the laundry bin. We had our garage sale on Saturday for about 5 hours. We sold just about everything, except a big chair and clothes. We made a little over $500 from it and I get to get some garage organizers to get the things we have off of the floor. I can't wait. I was really wanting a new front and storm door, but getting the garage finally finished sounds more important. If you get the food storage let me know...I would like to know how strong and well put together it is. Thanks, Stormi |
| Cher,
I know how hard it is waiting to hear the news of if you get the house you want. I have went through it a lot. It is so stressful. I really hope you get good news. Keep us posted. If this house isn't it, the next house will be even better! |
| I'm going through the waiting for a house thing too... so far three deals have fallen through because other people beat us to it, or they bid higher than we can go. We're still trying though.... my house is sooooo tiny and sooooo ugly. It was a last minute thing, and I haven't even bothered to paint anything because I knew we wouldn't stay here long... at least that's what I thought. Almost 4 years later nad I am still in this dump. LOL ... but because it's a cheap place to live we are completely debt free now. That was a huge accomplishment. So now we ignore the ugly paint, lol, and search the real estate listings alll the time. One day soon, I hope!!! |
| Willow, I hope everything goes OK for you. think positive.
I wasn't even going to buy yet but the landlady is selling the house that I'm in. A SMALL 2bd 1bth.(large back yard) with the three furkids and cat and kittens and the rat no one will rent to me You're right the waiting is hard.. Its a USDA house and isn't available yet. I'm going friday to start paper work. Hopefully I will beat anyone to it. I was hoping the USDA loan would go through first and i could do it that way but I am still waiting for paperwork I do have a back up though will keep ya posted. thank cher |
| It sounds wonderful!
Good luck! |
| Oh boy, I sure hope you will get your house! I went throught the same thing a few years ago. It was torture! Losing houses I fell in love with. But, I did find a perfect house! In a great neighborhood, with a good yard, for NYC, and the price was fantastic, because we got it through a friend. Now, the prices have skyrocketed in ny, the house is worth triple the amound we paid for it. Immagine that! My husband wants to sell it and move to Virginia! Oh, the food dispensers are great. They are made fairly well, and seem to keep food fresh. So, for $18, it was a good buy. |
| How do you guys do it? So many animals, not to mention the BIG dogs in such small places? We were lucky enough to find a huge house (see website), fortunately before the dogs. LOL! But, on the down side, there is a lot more cleaning to be done. I've decided that my house will never be all clean at once until the last child moves out... |
| Hi Brenda,
With the cats, they don't take up any room, only the 4 We have done a lot of upgrades in the house and we think in a few years we will sale and move a few miles out. I couldn't be away from the city or I would go crazy. Your house is beautiful, it looks like it is rich with history. I think new homes being built lack the character that older ones do. I call the neighborhood I live in cookie cutter houses. They each vary just a little to be different, but not much. There is probably 7-8 different floor plans that repeat through all of the homes. For those of you looking for homes, have you tried www.realtor.com That is where I found my home. I also think there are web sites for ...For sale by owner too. That might or might not be a route you would want to take. I had a friend who would search for forclosure houses and it took awhile but she eventually found a huge house that she paid very little for by going through a bank auction. My best advice is do a lot of research on finding the right mortgage loan. The closing fees are one thing, but they also put junk fees in that can vary depending on who you go through. You can save thousands by taking it slow and getting a loan first before you ever look at houses. Our first place we went to wanted almost $10,000 for closing and was only going to give 9%, we waited and found another place and got 6.5 % on our loan and closing was a little over $4,000. I can't tell you how sneaky places can be for house loans. Just be careful and research everything. I wish all of you well on finding the perfect house. Stormi and co. |
| I love your house Brenda, it is similar to the ones we are considering. I love all the big old victorian style homes.
If any of you want to take a look here are the ones we are considering right now This one is not bad, but I would prefer more bedrooms and I don't like the busy street it's on, and it has a rather small yard. http://www.mls.ca/PropertyDetails.aspx? ... ID=2670427 This one is ok, but not a lot of land, and has neighbors kind of close for my liking... lol http://www.mls.ca/PropertyDetails.aspx? ... ID=2637179 That's it for now, and I'm not crazy about either of them so I guess it's still wait wait wait...lol |
| Willow, I think I like the first one better also. And I like the older houses better, too. They do seem to have more character. We lucked out when we found ours. It had been converted to a duplex, so the down payment required was higher, but the owners wanted out of rental properties, and were selling really cheap. We paid less than $50,000 for it. Of course, it needed (and still does) a lot of renovation. We've put it back to single family and have been slowly restoring it to it's original style. We had renters upstairs when we moved in, so it was the 6 of us in a 2 bedroom apartment for a while at first. |
