incontinence

Ok so I have mentioned before that Stella tends to "leak" on occasion. She makes it all through the night without a problem, but a few times a week I notice her legs wet and have found that she had peed on herself.
I also notice that if I know she has to go out and I check to see if she is wet, she will have seeped a little, even though she tries to hold it.
I have had a full urine work up and there is no infection so now I must decide if I want to put her on PPA.
Being that she is only one years old, I wonder if I should start her on a medication which she could possibly be on her whole life, or if I should just wait and see if she outgrows it. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

You could look into herbal remedies instead?

last summer my Bella started to wake up in the morning with wetness under her. I had her tested for a UTI but she was fine. She was almost 3 at the time.I started on Proin, just giviving it to her at night. So I give her 1 at bedtime. It has worked, but she is the first spayed female I have owned that has urinary incontinence. Your sweetie is beautiful.
Mark I would probably leave it awhile before starting hormone treatment and see if she does strenghthen up there in that department she is only one so maybe another 6 or seven months of maturity and it might settle there.

If her leak is not too bad and she is not leaving puddles on the floor.

In the meantime, get some of the waterless shampoo to use on her back legs to clean up the urine smell and that way you are not constantly washing her back end.

You can also pop a pair of undies on her if you are out and she does leak that will absorb the drips and stop it dribbling down her back legs.
I remember one OES Mom built a series of jumps for her OES girl. She believed by making the dog jump every day she would keep her abdominal muscles taut and not develop leaks. Works on humans too but we call the Kegels

Makes sense, that's why I think stella should be given a bit more time before starting on hormone treatment due to her immaturity at the moment.
